The Zhao Ming that I Know (Clearwisdom.net) I became acquainted with Zhao Ming while he was
working as a network engineer at the Ziguang Incorporation of Qinghua
University. He was a single young man with a stable income, living a very simple
life. He used words sparingly but was warmhearted and used all he had to provide
conveniences for others.
In 1995, the difficulty of buying Dafa books was worrying many practitioners.
Zhao Ming used his personal savings of 10,000 Yuan as circulating funds for
purchasing Dafa books from publishers and distributors. This helped solve the
problem of providing books for fellow practitioners and people who had just
begun practicing Falun Gong. When autumn had begun to set in, he saw that the
cold weather made it inconvenient to have outdoor Fa-study. He then moved out of
his school dormitory, rented a two-bedroom, one-story house, and offered that
house as a place for fellow practitioners to hold Fa-study. He also bought a TV,
audio cassette player, VCD, and Dafa materials for fellow practitioners to use.
He placed the key to his front door in a place known to everyone so that they
could come into his house to study Fa and exchange Fa-study experiences.
The spring of 1996 was a high tide for spreading the Fa. Zhao Ming and fellow
practitioners made some banners to introduce the Fa and rented some venues to
play Dafa lecture videotapes and exercise videotapes. Almost every day, Zhao
Ming taught the exercise movements to people who had just started practicing and
also helped them refine the movements. He used all of his spare time for Dafa.
In the spring of 1998, many millions of people were practicing Falun Gong,
and many places often held experience-sharing conferences of various sizes. The
practitioners at Qinghua University held an experience sharing conference in the
Mengmin Building. Before the conference, the organizers received more than 100
experience-sharing papers. Zhao Ming, as one of the reviewers of the papers,
often worked until midnight. The papers read at the conference were touching and
inspiring. Many participants wanted more people to learn what they had heard
shared in the presentations. After the conference, Zhao Ming and the others
compiled the experiences into a book named "Falun Gong at Qinghua
University." This book soon spread among friends and relatives and even
spread aboard.
At the end of 1998, Zhao Ming was moved when he saw the photos of the
splendid scenes of a group practice with 10,000 practitioners at the Shengyang
Industry Exhibition in Liaoning Province, the large group practices at Changchun
City and at Leshan Sport Stadium in Sichuan Province. He hoped that more people
could see these precious photos so he tried various means and used his own money
to print the photos as a collection called "Great Virtue and Great
Fa." He then distributed them for free to many people.
When the crackdown on Falun Gong was launched by Jiang's regime in July 20,
1999, Zhao Ming was very concerned about the safety of fellow practitioners with
whom he had spent many days and nights. He decided to take the opportunity of
visiting his family members over the Christmas holiday to examine the situation
of his fellow practitioners, and to appeal for Dafa.
Zhao Ming, however, was monitored as soon as he landed at the airport. He was
constantly followed when he returned to Qinghua University and when he walked
down an alley, a police car would be waiting for him on the main road, just
ahead. Zhao Ming was in the shadow of national terrorism as soon as he entered
China, yet he remained unafraid. He managed to elude his monitors and find
some practitioners with which to exchange experiences. When he learned that some
fellow practitioners had been poisoned by false scriptures of the Teacher, he
immediately found the one spreading these scriptures and persuaded her to stop.
When she insisted, Zhao Ming spoke sternly to her and asked her to stop.
January 6, 2000 was the date for his return to Ireland for the beginning of
the university semester. Many people tried to persuade him not to appeal since
it would surely result in his imprisonment. At the time, the Office of Appeal
had become a place to arrest Dafa practitioners. Zhao Ming, however, with
disregard for his personal safety, resolutely entered the Appeal Office of the
central government in Beijing. As soon as he stepped through the entrance, upon
finding out that he was a Dafa practitioner, they arrested him without letting
him speak a single word. They took his plane ticket and his passport, detained
him, and sent him back to the Changchun Public Security Department in Jilin
Province.
As a student studying aboard and concerned about his country and his people,
Zhao Ming was deprived of his rights of speech and belief bestowed by the
constitution of the totalitarian government. However, "coercion cannot
change people's hearts." Zhao Ming didn't change his righteous belief in
Dafa even though he experienced physical and spiritual torture at the notorious
Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp, the devil's lair in the human world created by Jiang
and Lou's regime. Five policemen used electric batons with a voltage as high as
30,000V to shock him, but were not able to change his righteous belief in Dafa.
That only served to expose the evil deeds of Jiang and Lou's regime and exhibit
their sad state during their approaching last days. The pain and torture Zhao
Ming endured to defend the universal principle of "Truth, Compassion, and
Forbearance" won the respect of people with a sense of justice and awakened
the hearts of millions.
