Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia: Police of the 1st Detention Center Use Heavy Torture Instruments to Harm Dafa Practitioners

The 1st Detention Center of Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia Province, separates Dafa practitioners and jails them separately in cells with the regular criminal offenders.

Dafa practitioner Wang Xia held a hunger strike for her right to maintain her belief in "Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance." The police force fed her and then put a "Torture Instrument" on her. (This is a torture method in which both hands are handcuffed together and then the handcuff is locked onto the foot cuffs. Meanwhile, both feet are shackled and chained. Such a torture instrument prevents one from straightening up his/her back and legs. One then cannot walk, sit or lie down properly, hence one is unable to function normally in daily life). The police continued with their illegal activities putting this torture instrument on Wang Xia more than ten times and for periods of up to three months. They justified this brutal treatment by pointing out that Wang Xia didn't cooperate with reciting the "Prison Rules" and "Rules of Conduct," and that she would not wear the detention center's uniform.

While being escorted back to the Hohhot City 1st Detention Center from Wuchuan Detention Center, Wang Xia and Zhang Guilan (who is more than 60 years old) sent forth righteous thoughts and opened their handcuffs. The police were very scared. As soon as they arrived at the Hohhot City 1st Detention Center, the detention center director and a female warder Zhao Liansheng attached to them a torture instrument weighing more than ten pounds. This was attached to them for as long as seven days. Wang Xia's whole body was full of scabies due to this persecution.

Another Dafa practitioner from Shandong Province refused to tell the police her name and home address. Mo Dege, a female warder, put the torture instrument on her and left it on her for half a month. After half a month, the police only took off her handcuffs but still left the shackles and foot chains on. This practitioner's hands were very swollen, the skin on her wrists was lacerated, and her fingers were numb.

A 62-year-old Dafa practitioner Hu Yujun, is an associate professor at the Inner Mongolia Agricultural University. She was illegally jailed four times for her determination to practice Dafa and to clarify the truth of what Falun Dafa is to people. This time, she has been illegally jailed since July 13, 2001 and has not yet been released. It is said that she held a hunger strike several days ago to protest her illegal detention and was thus transferred to Tuzuoqi Detention Center in Hohhot City. Zhang Guilan was also transferred to Tuzuoqi Detention Center for her appeals.

According to the news, all the illegally jailed Dafa practitioners in the 1st Detention Center of Hohhot City have been holding a hunger strike to protest their illegal detention. Up to now (4/6/2002), the hunger strike has gone into its 17th day.

We are calling for the moral support and help of all kind-hearted people around the world. We invite all Dafa practitioners to send forth their righteous thoughts and eliminate and eradicate the evils. Let us stop the brutal forced feeding. Let us act together to help them.
