SF Examiner: Opinion, Not so fast
04/22/2002 ááá SAMUEL Luo's letter of March 12 is very misleading. The
author claimed to quote the founder of Falun Gong, Li Hongzhi, but such a
statement does not exist in Li's teachings. It is Luo's fabrication,
irresponsible and reprehensible. ááá Luo's claims are counter to the teachings of Falun Gong, which encourages
practitioners to be constructive, interactive members of society, who should
think of others before themselves, and should never ignore or mistreat them. ááá People practice Falun Gong because of the health benefits it affords and
the virtues of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance," that are the main
principles it teaches. ááá These teachings are the reason why in the nearly three years of persecution
of Falun Gong in China, there is not a single reported case of a Falun Gong
practitioner responding back in anger or physical aggression toward the police,
even when faced with the most brutal treatment. ááá I am sorry to see that Luo's article carries the kind of defamation that is
similar to the propaganda that the [Jiang's regime] has been spreading to
justify its brutal persecution of its own citizens, who refuse to give up their
rights to their personal beliefs. Sherry Zhang http://www.examiner.com/opinion/default.jsp?story=OPletters042202w
