U.S. Congresswoman Diana DeGette's Letter to Practitioner Supporting the Rights of Falun Gong Practitioners
Congress of the United States April 8, 2002 Thank you for contacting me regarding the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. I am
pleased to learn your views and appreciate the opportunity to share mine. As a member of the Congressional Human Rights Caucus, I am concerned about human rights abuses
around the globe. I believe governments should respect the basic freedoms of their citizens. For
this reason, I am concerned about allegations of human rights abuses against Falun Gong
practitioners in China. As you probably know, two bills have been introduced in the 107th Congress that would
express Congress's disapproval of the Chinese government's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
Although I was unable to send a letter to President George W. Bush about this issue before his trip
to China, I will be sure to keep your views in mind should these bills reach the House floor for a
vote. Again, thank you for contacting me. I look forward to our continued communication. á Sincerely Diana DeGette
