Radio Free Asia (RFA): Discussion Organized by Europe's Chinese Press on the Recent Intensified Persecution of Falun Gong in China (extracts)

(Clearwisdom. Net) The following was reported by Tian Yi, special correspondent from RFA stationed in Germany:

In early March, news from Mainland China reported that Changchun's Cable TV network transmitted truth-clarifying programs about the Chinese government's persecution against Falun Gong. Since the Chinese (Jiang's) government declared Falun Gong a [slanderous term omitted] organization, and the consequent ban and the persecution of the practice, Falun Gong, instead of being eliminated, saw further development. Therefore, according to relevant reports, the Chinese (Jiang's) government decided to take further persecutory measures against Falun Gong and to "kill without mercy." To explore whether the situation is so, whether there will be a recurrence of large-scale persecution like that of year 1989, or whether the Chinese (Jiang's) government is able to completely eliminate Falun Gong eventually, Europe's Chinese Press organized a discussion forum. Ms. Zheng Zhihong, formerly a lecturer at Zhejiang University, now doing research in Berlin, said,

"On Friday, I read news on the Internet that various places in China have made death lists, and they could even shoot Falun Gong practitioners to death on the spot. I was extremely shocked at the news, and immediately thought of the June 4th Massacre at Tiananmen Square in 1989. Many people and I, as a student then, did not believe that the government would shoot its own people, yet it all turned out to be true. Now, after the persecution has been going on for two years and seven months, the Jiang Zemin government is still unable to crush Falun Gong practitioners' belief in Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, and Jiang Zemin has become utterly discomfited and has completely lost his human nature. Under his orders, shooting to kill will most likely become a reality."

Ms. Weng Lidong, a scholar on Politics from Mainland China said,

"We should not forget historical lessons, such as the suppression of people's uprising by the Communist Party in East Berlin in 1953, the Hungarian incident in 1956, the invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, the suppression of the Union (of workers) in 1980 in Poland. We Chinese people also experienced what happened in 1976 and 1989. When the Communist Party feels that its power is threatened, and when it cannot achieve what it wants to achieve by any other means, it will certainly resort to suppression."

Regarding whether such kind of massacre can be prevented, Ms. Weng Lidong said,

"Only when governments of various countries and the masses of people respond strongly against it, can such massacre be prevented."

On this note Ms. Zheng Zhihong said,

" I hope to appeal to all the kind-hearted people in the international community and all the government organizations to act immediately to rescue the Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China, and to condemn the brutal actions of the Jiang Zemin government in order to stop the massacre of innocent people."

Regarding whether Falun Gong can be eliminated, Ms. Zheng Zhihong said, " The Communist Party cannot eliminate Falun Gong completely, because they cannot root out people's pursuit of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance in their hearts, and they cannot eradicate the cultural foundation deeply rooted in the hearts of the Chinese people."
