Traffic Policeman Moved by Honesty of Falun Gong Practitioner
(Clearwisdom.net) At 3 p.m. on January 11, 2002, at a busy intersection of
a city in Hebei Province, a traffic policeman on duty, with a bag full of money in his hand, was
shouting to the people around him, "She found this. She practices Falun Gong. She handed the
money to me." Pedestrians looked to where he pointed and saw an honest-looking, middle-aged
woman walking away with a smile on her face, pushing her cart with tofu for sale. This is what happened: the lady had just packed up after spending her day selling
tofu in the market, when she saw a plastic bag on the ground containing change and a bundle of bank
notes. It looked like a large amount of money. A passerby saw it and said, "You are lucky! You
wouldn't have made this much selling tofu for a whole year." "This is not my money. I will not take a cent of it," she said. The
lady pushed her cart to the side of the road and walked straight to the policeman at the command
post and said, "I found this. Please give it back to whom it belongs." Looking at the honest, kind woman in front of him, the policeman was speechless,
knowing that it was a lot of money. It doesn't happen very often these days that someone would turn
in this much money. The lady said to him, very clearly, "I practice Falun Gong. Any Falun Gong
practitioner would do the same." At this time, another policeman heard this and said, "You have to check in
over there since you practice Falun Gong". The lady said calmly, "There is no need. I am
on their list at the public security bureau as well as at the local police station. The Falun Gong
practitioners are not after fame or profit. We are just trying to be good. I am not that educated. I
just listen to my Teacher. There is nothing wrong with being a good person." Before she could finish, the policeman was so moved that he went up to the post
and shouted to everybody... That was what happened at the beginning of this story.
