Following Recovery from Many Diseases, Woman Dies after Destroying Zhuan Falun Under Pressure

Chen Yimei, female, lived in Ezhou, Hubei Province. For years, she suffered from many kinds of diseases. However, after practicing Falun Gong, she recovered from all her infirmities and no longer needed to take any medicine. She became a healthy person, and very different from what she used to be. But after July 20, 1999, because she believed in the evil propaganda slandering Dafa and defaming Teacher (Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa), she stopped practicing Falun Gong.

One year later, she saw many Dafa practitioners being arrested and deprived of all their property. At that moment, she remembered that she still kept the book Zhuan Falun (The principal book of Falun Dafa) at home. Feeling very frightened, she asked her husband to burn the book secretly. After several attempts, however, they could not burn it. It was so strange: they couldn't set the book on fire. But even after all attempts failed, she still was not enlightened to it. She thought the book was too thick, so she tore the book page by page and then burned them in sheer ignorance. Within half a month after they burned the book, Chen Yimei's whole body became painful, and her muscles were very tight. Then her body became edematous. Soon after, she was sent to the hospital for an examination.

The hospital diagnosed her with uremia, and she died a few days later. Later, her husband hit somebody while riding his bicycle. He paid more than 7,000 Yuan [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan] for that person's medical coverage.

In order to slander Dafa, the local officials asked Chen's husband to fabricate a story on TV by saying that his wife's death was caused by her refusal to go to the hospital. They told him he would get 1,000 Yuan as a reward for doing so. Chen's husband refused to do it though; maybe he had realized, at that moment, his past wrongdoings. Chen's husband said, "Actually, my wife recovered from all the diseases she suffered after practicing Falun Gong. The reason she died was that she believed in the government's propaganda in slandering Falun Gong. As a result, she stopped practicing and burned Zhuan Falun, and both of us received retribution as punishment. If I sell my conscience for 1,000 Yuan, I am afraid that my retribution would be even more bitter than my wife's."
