Proclamation of May 13, 2002 as Falun Dafa Day by Mayor of the City of Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Office of the Mayor Murfreesboro, Tennessee Proclamation WHEREAS, the practice of Falun Dafa, commonly referred to as Falun Gong was introduced to the
public in 1992, so that all could benefit from this ancient Chinese self-cultivation practice; and WHEREAS, Falun Dafa promotes the principle of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance
through a virtuous system of body, mind and spirit; and WHEREAS, Falun Dafa consists of a set of five basic exercises that include both physical
movement and extended stillness that are simple to learn and follow; and WHEREAS, Falun Dafa is not a religion and not political, yet some practitioners suffer
persecution and suppression in different areas of the world for their efforts in self-improvement;
and WHEREAS, the City of Murfreesboro embraces the fundamental freedom in this country of basic
human rights and liberty, without barriers to the pursuit of cultural and chosen teachings. NOW, THEREFORE, I, TOMMY BRAGG, MAYOR of the City of MURFREESBORO, TENNESSEE on behalf of the
entire City Council do hereby proclaim May 13, 2002 FALUN DAFA DAY in our city and urge all citizens to observe and recognize the importance of health, wellness and
