Mayor of the City of Hudson, New York Issues Proclamation to Support Falun Gong Practitioners' Human Rights

Proclamation

Whereas, Falun Dafa is a self improvement practice rooted in ancient Chinese Culture and was first introduced to the general public in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi; and

Whereas, Falun Dafa consists of four gentle exercises and mediation stressing the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance, which improve the lives and moral nature of Falun Dafa practitioners; and

Whereas, the study of Falun Dafa believes that when the heart is pure, the mind is balanced,a nd the body energized, making health and happineses a natural outcome; and

Whereas, in the past eight years, over 100 million people in more than 50 different countries have come to practice Falun Dafa and the effects on their physical, mental and spiritual health; and

Now , Therefore, I, Richard Scalera, Mayor of the City of Hudson, New York, do proclaim that the City of Hudson is committed to basic human rights in our community, our nation and our world, including the rights of all individuals to participate in religious and spiritual practices of their choice.
