Government of Baishi Township, Guangan County, Sichuan Province Collaborated with a School and a Theatrical Troupe to Extort Money from Students
(Clearwisdom.net) On April 12, 2002, all students from Baishi Junior High
School in Guangan County, Sichuan Province were forced to watch a drama
slandering Falun Gong. It was performed by Guangan County's Chuan Opera Troupe.
When the school authorities told the students what the drama was about and that
it would cost four Yuan for each student, none of the students wanted to go
since four Yuan was too expensive for a village child. The school authorities
threatened the students that it was a political assignment for all students to
watch the show, and required by the higher government. Anyone who did not watch
the drama would be expelled from the classroom. The students had no other option
but to submit to the pressure and pay the money.
The school collected a total of more than 6,000 Yuan for a drama that lasted
for about an hour, out of which 3,000 Yuan was paid to the theatrical troupe and
the school kept the remaining 3,000 Yuan. School administrators used the money
to have a banquet with Township government officials. Normally the school only
charges each student one Yuan to watch a drama or a movie organized by school,
and this time they charged four Yuan.
From this incident it is not hard to see what kind of hostile environment the
Falun Gong practitioners in China are facing, how much effort Jiang's regime is
making to slander Falun Gong, and how much damage such an evil persecution is
causing to ordinary Chinese citizens.
