WASHINGTON, May 21 (AFP) - China's banned Falungong spiritual group has pounced on a fifth top Chinese official during a visit to the United States, serving him with a writ alleging torture and genocide, activists said Tuesday.
Ding Guangen, a politburo member and head of publicity for the Communist Party's central committee, was served with papers in a hotel in Hawaii last Thursday, on the way home from a visit to Canada.
"As propaganda minister of China, Ding is directly responsible for the deadly propaganda, fabrication and lies to grossly distort Falungong's teachings and slander its founder and students with the purpose of bending public opinion to support the government's persecution of Falungong," said Terri Marsh an attorney working on the case.
Ding faces charges including torture, genocide under Alien Tort Act and the Torture Victims Protection Act, which allows American jurisdiction over acts of torture committed outside the country.
A lawsuit can only proceed, however, if defendants are served with legal papers while in the United States.
Ding is the fifth top Chinese official to be served with such a writ during a visit to the United States.
The court papers were filed on behalf of Frenchwoman Helene Petit, who was arrested in Tiananmen Square during a peaceful protest and expelled on November 21, and three unnamed Chinese plaintiffs.
This case differs from other similar cases in that it is a class action lawsuit, designed to protect the interests of a large group of people, rather than a few individuals, said Morton Sklar, Executive Director of the World Organisation against Torture which is sponsoring the action.
"This case is extremely important because it reaches one of the few people who are directly responsible for the campaign of persecution against Falungong practitioners."
Falungong has already won one previous case, through default, for damages against Zhao Zhifei, Public Security Chief of China's Hubei province, who refused to show up in court to contest charges of torture, murder and crimes against humanity.
The legislation allows jurisdiction over any assets that are held by the named individuals in the United States -- but as it does not provide for jurisdiction over their person and cannot prevent them returning to the country.
But activists say the cases, even if they are not contested, allow victims some restitution and the chance to pursue symbolic justice, as well as putting China on notice that human rights violations will not go unpunished.

NEW YORK, May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Residents of New York City, together with the non-profit organization Friends of Falun Gong, have filed a lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court seeking an end to the hate and slander put forth by the New York-area Chinese language newspapers, China Press and Sing Tao Daily.
"Over the past year, a string of defamatory articles published by these newspapers have taken lies, defamatory statements and slanderous labels, and weaved them into articles that incite hatred and distrust for practitioners of Falun Gong among the people of New York City," said Queens resident Janet Xiong, one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit. "The harm that results from these articles is real, and the damage they have caused has touched numerous facets of our lives."
Plaintiffs in the lawsuit will be joined by attorney Sheldon Leffler in front of the China Press office tomorrow to discuss the details of the case and provide interviews with plaintiffs.

We are very concerned with the treatment in China of Falun Gong practitioners in general, and specifically relating to recent events in the city of Changchun, Jilin Province. We have been notified that over 5000 practitioners of Falun Gong have been detained, and up to 100 have been killed. Much police activity has been conducted secretly, and police are encouraged to arrest Falun Gong practitioners.
We strongly urge you to guarantee the safety of all those detained in connection with the broadcast on the Changchun TV station this March and during the ensuing police operation. It is very important that you make known the detainees' names and whereabouts, and ensure that they have access to lawyers, their families, and medical attention.
Furthermore, all those Falun Gong members who have been detained solely for peaceful exercise of their fundamental human rights should be released immediately and unconditionally.
Finally, we have been informed of the many human rights violations, such as the torture of Falun Gong practitioners, and therefore call on you to publicly express your concern regarding these issues to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice as soon as possible.

On May 13 2002, practitioners from Klamadorsk , Ukraine celebrated the10th anniversary of the Public Introduction of Falun Dafa and the 3rd World Falun Dafa Day.
Story one:
A young man who appeared to have had too much to drink came to our place. He tried hard to prove to us that our work was useless but nobody would listen to him. He stopped many passersby to do his so-called "survey" but people simply told him, "Everyone has the freedom to choose what one wants" or "We can't tell you because we have not read the materials yet." Of course we, being the practitioners, would not complain to him. Before he said goodbye to us, an old man came. The old man read our truth-clarifying newspaper and told the young man, "You want to hear my opinion? OK, let's see. It is clearly printed here: not a religion, non-profit, and non-political. Isn't it good? The practitioners are all good people. They don't drink, don't smoke, don't use drugs, neither do they curse people nor bully others. I have a neighbor, a young man who practices Falun Gong. He is very good."
Story two:
One lady came to our display boards and asked what it was. After we introduced Falun Dafa to her and clarified the truth she was very happy that she got an answer to her long unsolved problem, e.g., how to maintain the safety and order of the park. She said that if all people had a higher moral level it would not only solve the problem of social order of the park but also all aspects of the society would improve. We were very happy too. Dafa helped this woman, and although it seemed to have only solved a small problem, the most important thing is that one more life experienced the greatness and benefits of Dafa. When she was leaving, she said, "Friends, you are doing the right and good thing!"

On May 15, 2002, the government of Biskopsgarden District, Gothenburg proclaimed the first "Falun Dafa Day" in Sweden. The district government also held a ribbon cutting opening ceremony at the center square of the district for Falun Dafa Day.

At the opening ceremony, the representative of the government Ms. Kristina gave a speech. In her speech, she highly appraised that Falun Dafa has brought benefits to both people and society. She wanted the residents of the district to follow the principle of Truth Compassion Tolerance.
According to Swedish customs, Ms. Kristina cut the ribbon for the opening of Falun Dafa Day. After cutting the ribbon, the representative from Sweden Falun Dafa Organization expressed the appreciation to district government and to Ms. Kristina and presented her with a gift, the books of Zhuan Falun, Falun Gong and etc. Another practitioner introduced her personal experiences practicing Falun Dafa and how many positive changes Falun Dafa had brought to her.

Next, practitioners demonstrated the five sets of exercises and sang Falun Dafa songs. Many residents participated in the event. The May 15 Falun Dafa Day will bring a bright future to the district and the people of this district.

From July 20, 1999, when China started to persecute Falun Dafa to the present, many countries including Canada, America, Australia, New Zealand and France have proclaimed "Falun Dafa Day" or "Falun Dafa Week" or "Falun Dafa Month". More countries and cities have issued nearly 700 supportive resolutions and proclamations.
(Clearwisdom.net) In spite of last minute planning, practitioners gathered in Frankfurt on May 13 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Falun Dafa - the day ten years ago in 1992 when Master Li Hongzhi first introduced the system to the public. Practitioners from Frankfurt and surrounding areas met for the day to exchange ideas and participate in a bicycle tour through Frankfurt and local environs.
The day began in Sachsenhausen for the seven participants. Sachsenhausen is a southern suburb of Frankfurt, on the opposite side of the Main River from the city center. Our first destination was the plaza in front of the Suedbahnhof (south train station). We were well supplied with newspapers and flyers. Our bikes were adorned with flags, lovingly handmade by a practitioner. The flags read, "Falun Gong" and also carried the Chinese characters "Zhen, Shan, Ren." It must have been the first time for many of the public to see a group of people sitting in the lotus position and meditating. We sent our righteous thoughts and distributed flyers to passers-by and to area retailers.
Our group, clad in yellow t-shirts and waving yellow Dafa flags, generated a lot of interest from the crowds moving through the area. We were able to hand out many flyers. We constantly asked ourselves if we should move on to other locations or simply continue where we were. Later on, we demonstrated the exercises at another location in the southern part of Frankfurt and spoke with several passers-by. From there we crossed the Main River and rode toward the beautiful and historic Opera House in the heart of Frankfurt, a very busy spot around lunchtime favored by locals and tourists alike. We stopped there to clarify the truth to the many people there. We limited ourselves to three practitioners at once, thereby eliminating the need for a permit, and demonstrated the exercises.
At noon we continued our Falun Dafa Day celebrations at the "Eiserner Steg," (Iron Bridge) an ancient, picturesque pedestrian bridge across the Main River. The bridge is a primary pedestrian artery across the river and is equally popular with locals and tourists.
The day had become brilliantly sunny and warm, and remained so until evening. We were united in the joy of participating in this 10th anniversary with other practitioners in a festive mood. The exercise group portrayed a beautiful, harmonious picture and the afternoon sun bathed the huge, yellow Dafa banner in golden light. We were pleased that many passers-by saw our group performing the exercises and asked pertinent questions. It was truly an international group of people that met us and we had information available in almost everyone's language.
We paid particular attention to tourists from China. We gave them truth clarifying information and VCDs in Chinese. The Chinese tourists are unwittingly our most important helpers to break Jiang Zemin's blockade, and there were quite a few Chinese there that day! We were overjoyed to show them that Falun Gong is widely practiced and appreciated outside of China, thereby revealing the lies the Chinese government spreads!
Our bike group remained at the Opera Plaza for a long time. Since there were only three of us there at any one time instead of a large group, we had no need for a permit. This overcame the authorities earlier refusal to issue a permit in a very natural and harmonious way. We were still able to hand out hundreds of flyers. Each one of us experienced that even though people were in a hurry, they did stop and smilingly accepted a flyer or a newspaper. They must have recognized the value of the information, because we found very few flyers tossed to ground.
Afterwards the group rode to the Main River Promenade (an elegant, broad walkway along the river, beautifully landscaped and adorned with statuary and benches) where we made sure the people strolling along became aware of us. Most everyone received some reading material. Almost no one sitting on the benches was left out. Flyers were handed around from cyclist to cyclist.
Everyone had fun during our first-ever cycling tour of Frankfurt. Our group reunited with the other half who had stayed to spend the afternoon at "Eiserner Steg," where it so happened that a TV team was videotaping a Falun Gong segment. With such great weather, the TV team was able to get some truly excellent footage to document this 10th anniversary of Falun Dafa's introduction to the public. We all left in a happy mood, having had a successful day.

After several days of rain and cold, the weather took a turn for the better and became clear and sunny on the afternoon of May 13, 2002. Practitioners from the Columbia area happily gathered together on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia and gave a musical performance to celebrate this special day. Many Chinese people learned the truth about Falun Dafa and expressed their respect for the courage of the practitioners in China who are clarifying the truth and insisting on following their beliefs under such brutal persecution. This event also received support from many practitioners' family members who don't practice Falun Dafa. It also gave them a chance to gain a deeper understanding of practitioners and Falun Dafa.

At around 6 p.m., practitioners began their performances. Many audience members asked the practitioners about the persecution of the Falun Dafa disciples in China and expressed their respect for the practitioners who have risked their lives to uphold the truth. Some people wanted to learn the exercises immediately, and one girl from Vietnam said that she had looked for Falun Dafa for a long time and was happy to have finally found it at our event.
A post-doctoral student of the physics department said that even though he didn't practice Falun Gong, he knew that the Jiang regime was lying. He said that if they didn't lie, then they wouldn't be able to survive.
During the break a mother and a son from China joined our celebration. The boy was about 7 or 8 years old and together with his mother they viewed our display boards carefully. When they saw Teacher's exercise demonstration pictures, the boy sat in front of the board and crossed his legs in the full lotus position. A practitioner talked to them and found out that they had practiced Falun Gong in China before 1999. But after the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, they stopped practicing. The practitioner sincerely told them, "It was so unfair to you, but here you can practice freely." They happily found out the group practice schedule and left. Another girl from Qinghua University also said that she had practiced Falun Gong before and doing so had cured her headaches. But after the persecution, she was forced to stop practicing and her headaches returned.
From this event, we can see that as more and more evil is eradicated, more and more Chinese people are awakening and recognizing the truth. Before, even in America, they rarely dared to express their opinions in public even though they admitted that Falun Gong is good in private. The Jiang regime's lies are rapidly losing their hold over the people.

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. I have been made homeless and am forced to move from place to place, because of my determination to cultivate Falun Dafa. On February 13, 2002 (lunar calendar January 2), I was abducted on my way home by up to 7 employees from my work place who, along with a police officer, had been waiting long to catch me. They forcibly sent me that night to a Provincial brainwashing center. For two and a half months I endured inhuman tortures. I personally witnessed the true situation of the brainwashing "classes". With the help of Master's strengthening energy, I have borne all of these tortures and on April 27, I walked out of the brainwashing center in a dignified manner. I now want to write down my personal experience, to reveal the truth of the persecution to the world's people.
The So-Called "Legal Education" Center
The so-called "Legal Education" Center is located in Beicheng Street, Shijiazhuang City, and is a part of the City Labor Camp. This jail-like facility is equipped with tall walls, iron gates, and is full of camera monitors. There are two main buildings - a south building and a north building. All of the abducted Dafa disciples are locked in the north building, the windows of which are covered with wire mesh. There is only one door to the north building, and it is guarded 24 hours a day. Two "Accompanying Educators" watch over one Dafa disciple 24 hours a day (practitioners who have given in to the persecution have only one guard). Today, this so-called "Legal Education Center" has become a base for specifically persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners. Every day there is a human tragedy playing out in this place, and the public is completely unaware of it. There are more than 20 abducted Dafa disciples still being held there. Among them, Kiang Fan (male, 29 years old, employee of Huber Pharmaceutical Factory) has already been detained there for over four months, and he is still being tortured.
Ten Days of Continuous Sleep Deprivation
When I was first abducted, the police appeared to be "nice" to me. But facing the illegal detention that deprived me of my freedom, I did not cooperate with the persecution at all. Two days later, the evil beings tore down their "nice" appearance, and on the sly, they did not allow me to sleep for ten consecutive days. During these ten days, group after group of police took turns trying to brainwash me. They tried to pour lies into my head, and tried to force me write four kinds of "guarantee statements" (declarations that a Falun Dafa practitioner will never go to Beijing to appeal, never again associate with other practitioners, never again spread the Fa, and is sorry to have practiced Falun Gong in the first place) when I was too tired to think clearly. One police officer from the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] named Kong Fanyun threatened me by saying, "If you still will not be transformed [and sign the guarantees], we will send you to a forced labor camp; when your term is up and if you are still not transformed, we will send you back here; you will never get out unless you become transformed. There is no possibility to be released by going on a hunger strike." He also added viciously, "Don't even think of any chance of redressing (Falun Gong). Even if it were to be redressed, I wouldn't allow you to go free. I will kill you, so that you will never be out of here (in time for the redressing of Falun Gong)."
I had been on a hunger strike ever since my first day there to protest the illegal detention. The police said they were conducting "humane force-feeding to be responsible to lives." In fact, force-feeding is cruel torture. They use very long, thick feeding tubes, and fiercely insert it into your stomach, which is unbearably painful. They used this method to torture people. They put too much salt into the force-feeding milk. Every time they force-fed me, I felt like I was walking in hell once more (I had been force-fed before while in the detention center, but that was not as evil as here). Every day they force-fed a large amount each time. The tenth day, Kong Fanyun had someone bring a laminated photo of our Master, cursed it with vicious words, then tried to force me to step on the photo. I struggled hard against this evil attempt.
15 More Days of Continuously not Being Allowed to Sleep
They did not get what they expected in those ten days of torture, and just two days later, another round of torture began. The police assigned several traitors [former practitioners who have renounced Falun Dafa due to extreme mental pressure and torture] to take turns to "work with me." They would not allow me to rest one bit. As soon as I closed my eyes, they would come over and separate my eyelids, or poke my eyeballs. Even during their meal time they would stay very close, watching my eyes. This time the torture lasted 15 days. Every day, together with physical tortures, they would try to pour ridiculous words into my head. Total sleep deprivation is their main method. In order to prevent me from falling asleep, the police used various means, such as punching my forehead, hammering my thighs, twisting my ears, separating my eyelids, or hammering my head with anything they could grab. An evil traitor, Zhao Juyong, would inhumanely pick my eyes, and flick my eyeballs, which caused me unbearable pain -- worse than dying. In the later days of this torture, I could not bear it any more. They forced me to walk inside the room back and forth. Two times I fell asleep while walking, so that my head bumped into the wall, or the door, and I received huge bumps on my head. Also I experienced hallucinations, and could not see things normally. The last night, I could not even sit straight on the stool (they would not let me sit on a chair, to prevent me from sleeping), and I constantly fell down from sitting on the stool. Every time I fell down, they would pull me up and make me sit back up. However, the evil torture could not move this Dafa disciple, and their plan failed again.
After these 15 days, the exhausted evil police lost their confidence. They rotated practitioners who had enlightened on a wrong path [and who therefore had renounced Falun Dafa] to watch me. Basically, they still would not let me sleep. But sometimes some of those who went on the wrong path could not bear to torture me too much, and they would let me nap while leaning against a chair. Then they forced me to repeatedly watch movies that slandered Dafa, 24 hours a day. Due to long periods of time sitting, my legs and feet became all swollen. My feet especially were swollen severely.
The Completely Fabricated "Four Guarantee Statements"
During the second round of fierce brainwashing, besides not allowing me to sleep, they tried to force me write the four statements. The first time, the evil policeman Kong Fanyun instructed a group of security guards to force me onto a chair. They used a round table pressed against my chest, while some of them pressed down on my shoulders, some of them choked my neck, some twisted my left arm, and others held my right arm tightly. They all gripped me very tightly. Evil Kong came over and spread my fingers apart, then put a pen in between my fingers. He then tightly held my right hand and began to write some crooked words on the paper. I used all my strength to resist. They finished the "first statement" using all their might, and grabbed my hand to press a fingerprint on it. Later they bragged in front of me, "You've already written [a guarantee statement]." My right arm muscles were wounded because of being over-stretched and gripped so tightly, and I was in pain for a very long time. They repeated this maneuver for a second and a third time. Each time it was led by former practitioner Zhao Juyong with a group of assistants. Zhao would hold my hand, and as he saw me struggle against it so wholeheartedly, he would slam my hands against the edges of the table or the chair, causing my hands excruciating pain as if the bones were being shattered. The severe wounds pained me for many days.
On another day, a male assistant named Liu Lihui brought several vicious assistants, including Yang Jie, Xing Xiao, Li Ming, and others, and force-fed me alcohol while they pressed me down on a chair [note: Falun Dafa practitioners do not drink alcohol]. One female assistant, Cui (around 50 years old -- they said she was the "nicest teacher" there) also came to help them. I struggled fiercely; about half a mug of liquor went down my throat. Cui put some water in the mug and then poured it onto my head. She told me that they would do more of this later. They would often blow cigarette smoke in my face, trying to move my faith this way. I was not allowed to be visited by my family, or even to be sent necessities.
Lives that Lost their Human Conscience
Many practitioners who were abducted and brought to this place could not bear the tortures, and when they could not think clearly, accepted the brainwashing. The painful thing is, some of them even lost their human conscience. I saw that Wang Bo, Yang Jie, Xing Xiao, Yang Kailiang, Liu Lihui, Wang Guilan, and Wu Yongxin have been viciously persecuting others after being lost.
The more evil ones like Zhao Juyong had already changed over to an inhuman mindset. He is the head of assistants. He never has specifically designated tasks, but leads every torture attack with great pleasure. He always led the force-feeding. He constantly beat firmly cultivating Dafa disciples. Once when many people were attacking me, he grabbed a chopstick and poked my body hard. Xing Xiao saw him poke my soft body parts, and afraid that something bad would happen, he suggested that he instead poke my chest and ribs. The chopstick was broken in half because of his hard poking, and he still would not stop. He grabbed a TV antenna connector, folded it, and then whipped my head with the iron end till my head was bleeding. He twisted and pinched my ears many times. My left ear was festering for a long while. Once when he saw me wearing a pair of cotton shoes, he viciously crushed my toes with the heel of his boots. My feet were in pain for a long time after this. Once he came to twist my ear again, so I tried to block him with my hand; he suddenly grabbed one of my fingers and broke it backwards, then poked my eyes with his hand. I tried to avoid his attack, but he still managed to poke into the corner of my eyes. He was still not satisfied. He used the corner of a book to poke my eye; although I closed my eyes, my eyelids were cut. This evil scoundrel was very admired by the Brainwashing Center. I heard that as a Falun Dafa practitioner he had formerly been sent from the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp to be brainwashed in the violent Beijing Tuanhe Labor Camp. There he had endured many tortures himself. But now he let out his revenge wildly onto Falun Dafa disciples.
This place of horrifying persecution was described as the "happy reunion place" of Wang Bo's family by CCTV. There are often visitors from other provinces. The Central "610" Office uses this site as their model brainwashing center. The evil persecution continues to create tragedies every day in this location. At least 150 Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured here. There are still more than 20 practitioners detained there, and the evil ones are still abducting more practitioners and bringing them in. A few days ago, they arrested two young female Falun Dafa practitioners. Zhao Juyong and his evil gang do not use doctors for force-feeding, and instead conduct the force-feedings themselves. Dafa disciple Jiang Fan was abducted from his work place, and has been illegally detained here for more than four months. Because he never gave in, they sent him to the forced labor camp for more persecution. Nevertheless, this cruel persecution cannot move genuine Dafa cultivators. We call upon all righteous people to please extend a helping hand and help stop this evil persecution towards kind people. Return justice to the human world and to people's hearts, and return the heavenly law!

[Northeast China] Dafa Practitioners Hang Up Several Hundred Banners to Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Introduction of Falun Dafa to the Public
On the evening of May 11, Dafa practitioners in a Northeastern city in China celebrated World Falun Dafa Day on May 13th. They hung up four huge banners, one meter in width and twelve meters in length (three feet by 39 feet), which read, "Celebrate May 13th - World Falun Dafa Day." Big colorful Falun emblems were printed at the bottom of the banners. People who saw them all praised them and were moved by the practitioners' tenacious determination.
That same evening, practitioners also hung up several hundred smaller banners that were a little over one meter (3 feet) in length to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day. They also made several thousand fine-looking, self-sticking flyers, which manifested the sacredness, solemnity and wonderfulness of this Dafa holiday.
[Changchun Province, Jilin Province] Policemen in Court are Armed with Electric Batons; the Nanguan District Court is in a Mess
On March 6, officials in Nanguan District's Court convened a "trial" to sentence Dafa practitioners. More than 100 police cars were parked outside the court and over 100 police officers were inside the courtyard. Military policemen even crowded upstairs and downstairs, as if facing a dangerous enemy.
The court was filled with plainclothes and uniformed police with electric batons in their hands. Only less than ten family members were present in the public gallery. The whole court was full of horror, as if facing formidable enemies. The judge of the Nanguan District Court didn't allow the practitioners to defend themselves. If the practitioners said something, they would be pulled out, beaten and shocked with electric batons. The practitioners didn't cooperate with the evil thugs. Three or four police beat one practitioner together. The court was in a mess. Electric batons sparked and policemen kicked the chairs over.
Practitioner Mr. Luu Yan was beaten so severely that he couldn't walk. Female practitioners, including Ms. Liu Zhe were electrically shocked. Policemen grabbed Ms. Zhang Shuqin's neck so tightly that she couldn't breathe. When the leading judge asked Ms. Liu Zhe to defend herself, Ms. Liu Zhe said, "First I want to defend my Teacher." Before she could complete her sentence, she was pulled out. Most practitioners were forcibly taken out of court many times because they defended themselves. When many practitioners were beaten, the judge had to announce a break. Almost every single practitioner was taken into a room and brutally beaten. During the trial, some family members were unreasonably taken out of the courtroom and illegally detained.
The so-called "witness statements" read in the court were actually written by the police. In the end, policemen held the hands of practitioners, who were beaten and couldn't move, to sign the document. Most practitioners' sentences were signed this way.

Practitioners in Jiamusi City are faced with unprecedented, relentless persecution. Many practitioners were arrested and had confessions extracted with the aid of brutal tortures. In order to arrest more practitioners, the evil thugs recently bought surveillance equipment to tap, monitor, and locate practitioners' cell phones and pagers. The most important work for the police authorities right now is to persecute Falun Gong and they have laid everything else aside.
[Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Several Practitioners' Whereabouts are Unknown After their Arrest in Late April
On April 24, scofflaw policemen arrested practitioner Mr. Yang Chuanjun in Dalian City and his current whereabouts are unknown. His wife was also arrested on the second day. The whereabouts of many practitioners who have been arrested recently are still unknown.

During recent years, guards in the Yingkou Forced Labor Camp have coerced common prisoners into monitoring Dafa practitioners with the lure of reducing their detention terms. The prisoners often beat, abused and physically punished Dafa practitioners. A policeman in the labor camp said, "This is a pool of crocodiles."
Over the past few years, guards in the labor camp ordered prisoners to beat and shock Dafa practitioners with electric batons. After the physical torture had no effect on Dafa practitioners, the guards began to mentally persecute Dafa practitioners instead. They didn't allow Dafa practitioners to meet with their families for more than half a year, which made their families misunderstand Dafa practitioners and directly led to families being broken up. In one divorce case, guards in the labor camp deliberately held on to the Dafa practitioner's letters to prevent him from communicating with his wife, which eventually led to the divorce. They also didn't release Dafa practitioners when their detention terms had expired. Instead, they extended practitioners' detention terms.
In April 2002, the guards learned new methods from other places to torture Dafa practitioners. They divided us 13 practitioners into two teams and forced us to face a wall and sit down on a small wooden stool, which was only four meters long (12 feet) and four inches high, for a whole day. They didn't allow us to talk with each other or make any movements. If one of the practitioners went to toilet, they ordered four common prisoners to specially watch him. They assigned three chiefs in each division to strictly watch on us in turn, around the clock.
Even though under such strict surveillance, very early on the morning of May 5, we thirteen Dafa practitioners collectively sent forth righteous thoughts and escaped from the evil dens, which struck the evils a deadly blow.

Since January 2002, after the evildoings of the vile persons in Lanzhou City's Charcoal Factory have been exposed all over the Haishiwan District and arose intense responses in the public, everyone in the factory knew of the evildoings. Officials in the "610 Office" at the factory were outraged. They colluded with officials in Haishiwan District's Police Precinct to arrest Dafa practitioners. On January 31, 2002, two Dafa practitioners were illegally detained at Honggu District's Drug Rehabilitation Center for fifteen days. The two Dafa practitioners did not drink water or eat food to protest the illegal detention. On the fifth day, Ren Guizhi (female), a chief of the rehabilitation center, rushed into the cell and beat and kicked the two Dafa practitioners without saying anything. After the beating, she ordered two male drug addicts to force-feed Dafa practitioners with water, but they failed. Then she ordered male prisoners to stuff Dafa practitioners' mouths with dirty towels. On the eighth day, officials in the rehabilitation center directly sent the two Dafa practitioners to Lanzhou City's brainwashing class.
Officials in Lanzhou City's Charcoal Factory dispatched two persons to watch every Falun Gong practitioner around the clock. Because they feared that Dafa practitioners would escape, they didn't allow Dafa practitioners to turn off the lamps at night or allow the accompaniers to sleep.

A county police department director dies in a car accident
Zheng Heping, the Shenqiu County Police Department director of Zhoukou City in Henan Province has been illegally jailing and cruelly persecuting Dafa practitioners since July 20, 1999. He died of a car accident on his way to Zhengzhou in October 2001. Seven people were in the car, with six others all being safe.
Security director becomes paralyzed
During his tenure as the director of the security division in Zhoukou City Police Department, Wang Yide, beat up and verbally abused people who practiced "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance." He also tortured them using all sorts of torture methods and apparatus on them and took the opportunity to extort money from them. There were more than 60 people illegally convicted in Zhoukou City alone.
It is a heavenly principle that one will reaps whatever one sows. The crooked Wang Yide persecuted Dafa and harmed good people. In doing so, he also harmed himself, and, as a result, became paralyzed over half of his body in the spring of 2001.
Two examples from Yantai City, Shandong Province:
1. Wang Huanliang, the president of the Yantai City Seafood Supply and Distribution Company persecuted Dafa practitioners in his company. He had fired those practitioners who went to Beijing to appeal. In March of 2001, he suddenly got liver cancer, and died soon after in May of that year.
2. Zhao Ximo, the secretary of Haifa district office of the Yantai City Seafood Supply and Distribution Company, slandered Dafa and Teacher as well as cursed at Buddha in a company meeting. He ran into a building riding his bicycle on the way home right after the meeting. He was injured all over and had to be wrapped in bandages from head to toe.

(Clearwisdom.net) Liu Lu, an officer at Wawo Town Police Station, Pulandian City, Liaoning Province, participated in manhunts for Dafa practitioners before April 25 of this year. Not long after, he was thrown from his motorcycle while making a turn and died due to severe head injuries.
Around July 20, 1999, Zhang Erchen, former deputy mayor of Shijiazhuang City, arrested and abused Falun Gong practitioners in order to keep his post. Later, he was arrested because of corruption. One day while in custody, his mental functions degraded severely, leaving him in a catatonic state overnight.
In Hebei Province there is a woman who cut up Master's picture after giving up cultivation after July 20, 1999. Consequently, her husband died due to illness within two months, and her son was divorced after becoming mentally ill.
A large company employed many Dafa practitioners who had gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. A malicious member of the management verbally assaulted Dafa practitioners and sent a memo saying that anyone who practices Falun Dafa would be dismissed. Soon after, the company headquarters dismissed him.
It is indeed true that good will be rewarded with good and evil will meet with evil.

(Clearwisdom.net) I have been a Dafa practitioner for almost three years. I began cultivating while I was in China in March 1999. I was an English teacher in Jiangsu Province and one of my friends gave me the English version of Zhuan Falun. After I read the book, I asked my friend to teach me the exercises. Then I began the routine of waking at dawn three or four times a week and practicing in a park near my school with a group of about fifty people. We practiced openly without fear. After the peaceful appeal on April 25, 1999, I couldn't practice at the park due to pressure from my supervisor. I practiced on campus instead. I tried to clarify the truth to them, but at that time I did not know how much I should resist.
I left China July 10, 1999 and returned to my family in California. That was thirty-one months ago. I would now like to share my more recent experience in Tiananmen Square.
On February 10, two other Western practitioners from my area and I left for China. We arrived in Beijing on Monday evening. After we left our luggage at the hotel, we walked to Tiananmen Square. As we walked along the streets toward the square, I saw a small group of Chinese people taking pictures. I saw a man and woman holding hands and I saw cute Chinese children bundled up in winter clothing as they walked beside their parents. As I watched these people, I thought to myself, "How many of these kind-looking, mild-mannered people believe what the government tells them about Falun Gong? How many of these people know the truth about Falun Gong? How many of them remember how popular and accepted Falun Gong was before July 1999?"
On Tuesday, the three of us exercised and read Teacher's articles. On Wednesday, we exercised and visited the Summer Palace. Once we entered the gate, a Chinese woman approached us and offered to be our tour guide. We accepted her offer and, after 45 minutes, we asked her about Falun Gong. I told her that the people in Western countries condemn the persecution and they know Falun Gong is good. I reasoned that Falun Gong practitioners are good people who should not be persecuted.
On Thursday morning, we prepared to go to Tiananmen Square. I had previously made a banner with Chinese characters: Zhen Shan Ren (Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance). When we arrived at the square in a taxi, police were guarding all of the entrances. I did not understand why there were so many police at the square. Throughout the persecution, practitioners have never resorted to violence although they themselves have been violated. There has never been a need for so many police officers.
We were arbitrarily stopped and questioned three times by police while we were there. After a few minutes, we spread out and walked around. I met a young Chinese man and talked to him before I showed him my banner and said, "Falun Gong is good" in Chinese. Within seconds, a policeman grabbed my banner and pulled me to a police van. As I tried to say Falun Gong is good, he proceeded to choke and hit me. It felt so strange and unjust to see his anger and to experience his horrible treatment because I had said something as harmless as "Falun Gong is good."
I want to share with you some of the conversations I had with different police officers while I was illegally detained. I figured that I would clarify the truth to them.
On the bus ride to our detainment location near the airport, I sat next to a police officer that spoke English well. I said, "Zhen Shan Ren is good. Is that right?" She said, "Of course it is good. But why do you say you have forbearance when you go to Tiananmen Square?" I said that it is a Constitutional right to appeal to the government. Forbearance does not mean that you allow injustice to exist and run wild without consequence. I asked her, "If Falun Gong is accepted and practiced in fifty countries around the world, why is China the only country that persecutes it?" She was embarrassed and could not respond. Another question I wish I had asked her is, "In the fifty other countries where people practice Falun Gong, why don't we ever hear those horrible stories in which Falun Gong practitioners are crazy and violent? Why is it that those stories that defame Falun Gong only come from China?"
After the bus ride, I was taken to a room and interrogated by a policeman. He asked my name, where I was from, and questions about Falun Gong. I told him that the Chinese Constitution grants the freedom to appeal, to assemble, and to express oneself. He shamelessly responded, "We don't follow the Constitution."
He also stated that we disrupted social order by going to Tiananmen Square. Contrary to his statement, I can say with certainty that I did not disrupt the social order. I simply showed a banner that read Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, and I said, "Falun Gong is good." How could this disrupt anything? If everyone walked by me and read my banner, I think that would make everyone peaceful and relaxed. The truth is that the police caused social disorder when they accosted and beat me. Since the beginning of the persecution, this is how it has been. Many Chinese people I talk to try to justify the persecution by claiming that practitioners disrupt social order. I ask them, "Why was there no disruption of social order from 1992 until 1999?"
There are also Chinese people I talk to who tell me, "You just don't understand China. You need to understand China before you condemn the persecution." It is true that many Westerners do not understand Chinese culture, Chinese thought, and Chinese governmental policy. However, this does not mean we do not understand the difference between right and wrong.
A Western practitioner from New York who also went to Tiananmen Square said last week that a policeman took his cell phone and typed a message for him to read. It read, "I trust you. I know Falun Gong is good. I am sorry we have to do this."
I went to China to validate Falun Dafa, to let Chinese people know that non-Chinese westerners know that Falun Gong is good, and that we are aware of the persecution. I want them to ask themselves if they think they are doing a good thing by persecuting Falun Gong.
While I was detained, I realized that I was more restrained in such an evil environment. I failed to step out of humanness many times, and I realized that my understanding of compassion is superficial. I also realized that Mainland Chinese practitioners who can transcend the evil environment and not allow it to penetrate their righteous thoughts are great. They are really great!
(Clearwisdom.net) Upon hearing the news that Ding Yan had been tortured to death in the water dungeon of the jail in Chengde City, Hebei Province, I felt extremely grieved. I never expected that when we parted on July 3, 2000, that it would be for the last time in this world. She died in her 34th year, full of youthful vitality. I couldn't fall asleep that night, and the towel over my pillow was wet with my tears.
It was in the First Detention Center when I saw her the first time. We were imprisoned in the same cell. During the days we worked and recited Hongyin together and, in the evenings we practiced and studied the Fa together. She was so diligent in cultivation that she spent all of her available time studying the Fa and transcribing the Fa from memory. Because she was a hairdresser, many of the inmates liked to have their hair cut by her. She always sat for a long time while doing the work, and her hard work and sweat inspired everyone around her.
One time a warden asked us to write down the reasons why we had been sent to jail. She wrote, "Because I cultivate Falun Dafa, I was sentenced to 4 years in jail. I will continue to cultivate according to the principles 'Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance', to be a good person and a good person in an even higher realm." At last she wrote, "I welcome my Teacher's return to China so that more people can obtain and cultivate the Fa." This sentence touched me deeply, and it is just the voice in my heart.
Ding Yan's wish was to display a Dafa banner on Tiananmen Square. For the greatness and holiness of Dafa, all the practitioners who have not stepped out should step out to validate the Fa by cultivating diligently. Under Teacher's boundless mercy and benevolence, such as have never been on the earth throughout human history, you must do what you should without any regrets or hesitation.
Teacher said in "Also in a few words," "Indestructible righteous faith in the cosmos's truth forms the Dafa disciples' rock-solid, Diamond-Like Bodies, it frightens all the evil, and the light of Truth it emanates makes the unrighteous elements in all beings' thoughts disintegrate."
When she was illegally put on trial, she exposed the evil and validated the Fa in the court. The vicious police accused her of "contempt of court." They grabbed her hair, slammed her head against the wall, and even pulled down her trousers to humiliate her. She ordered them with the force of justice, "Lift up my trousers!" Under the gaze of her awe-inspiring eyes, they had to do as she said.
The death of Ding Yan is the result of the persecution by the evil old forces. Teacher has told us, "No matter how the evil persecutes, what awaits Dafa disciples is still Consummation, and what awaits the evil beings is nothing but eternally paying in Hell for all they have done to interfere with and persecute the Fa-rectification and Dafa disciples." Ding Yan's moving article "Let life be glorious in the Fa-rectification" has inspired so many Dafa disciples to go to validate the Fa in Beijing, letting them make the first step in the journey of the Fa-rectification cultivation. One steady step after another in her road of cultivation, everything she did and achieved in cultivation is simple and unadorned, but is indestructible like diamond.
She used every opportunity to spread the Fa and expose the evil, no matter what attitude the people had and how difficult it was. She patiently told the people in the cell the truth and the innocence of Dafa. Under her influence, a lot of people with predestined relationships with the Fa copied Hongyin, and some of them even began to cultivate as well.
Ding Yan, I miss you so much. Seeing more and more sentient being have obtained the truth, you must be smiling in the heavens.
Note: Ding Yan participated in the news conference by practitioners in Beijing on October 28, 1999, the first time that the world's media contacted Dafa practitioners in Mainland China directly. On November 26 of the same year, she was arrested during the Fa conference in Guangzhou. (Clearwisdom.net) On May 10, 2002, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Latvian practitioners held a candlelight vigil to commemorate the Falun Dafa practitioners who were persecuted to death by the Jiang regime for practicing "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance."
The vigil was approved by the Duma (Parliament) of Riga, the capital of Latvia, and many media outlets reported the event, including the Latvian national television station.
At first, many policemen were assigned to keep order. The practitioners clarified the truth to the policemen and showed their peaceful nature during the event. The authorities then decided to leave only two policemen from the local police station to provide security.
One policeman in particular was very interested in Falun Gong. He recorded the practitioners' activities with his own video camera. I talked to him for a while and told him about how Falun Gong has transcended the boundaries of race and nationality, and how Falun Gong is recognized all over the world. I also told him about the ongoing persecution in China, and how previous to 1999, the Chinese government endorsed Falun Gong.
After sunset, quite a few people came to the site of the candlelight vigil and asked questions. We introduced Falun Dafa to them by talking to them and showing them the pictures on the display boards. A practitioner taught the children the Falun Gong exercises. A policeman saw it and said, "Usually there aren't many children here. Today is special. It is good to teach them Falun Gong. If they practice Falun Gong, they will not use drugs or violate the law. And I know they will not only obtain good health, but also become good people. It would be really good if Latvia had a school to teach our children about Falun Gong."
With the successful conclusion of the event, we expressed our appreciation to the policemen for their hard work. One of them could read English, so we gave him some "Witness to History" booklets in English. They wished us success.

Many Chinese tourists and local Chinese come here, and they were very surprised to see Westerners practicing Falun Gong. Some of them took the Dafa truth-clarifying literature. Many were quietly standing in front of the photos displaying the vicious persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
One middle-aged man from a tourist group from Shanghai said, "Falun Gong, I know, is a very good practice. We all know it in China." Being deceived by Jiang's regime's slanderous media, he was afraid that we are political oriented. We told him that Falun Gong has never been involved in politics. We clarify the truth only in the hope of stopping this persecution.
One lady who went abroad shortly after Falun Gong was banned in China, said, "At that time, all TV programs broadcast how Falun Gong is bad. We all believed the propaganda of the Chinese government, but we had no way to know the truth about Falun Gong." We clarified many of her queries. When she learned that we all work or study, and we only spend our holidays to clarify the truth to people, she was so moved that she thanked us. She took the truth-clarifying literature and wanted to read carefully after going home, and then read the book Zhuan Falun. She also asked for a badge reading "I support Falun Dafa" and put it on immediately.
One Belgian took Dafa truth-clarifying literature in different languages. He said, "I have friends speaking English, and I also have friends speaking Chinese, I want to take all these materials for them."
(Clearwisdom.net) On May 13, 2002, Delaware State Falun Dafa practitioners held a two-day "Journey of Falun Dafa" photo exhibition at the student center of University of Delaware.
At 11:00 a.m. on the morning of May 13, the opening ceremony started and proclamation of Falun Dafa Day from the Governor of Delaware State Ruth Ann Minner was announced. It wrote, "Whereas the great compassion and tolerance displayed by Falun Dafa practitioners under the most severe environments has touched the hearts of the people throughout our states, nation and world; Now, therefore, we do hereby declare May 13, 2002, Falun Dafa Day in the State of Delaware, and urge all Delawareans to recognize and support the practitioners of Falun Dafa, both within the first state and throughout the globe." A representative of State Assemblyman Roger P. Roy also attended the ceremony, and issued the tribute signed by the House of Representatives, expressing their congratulations to the 10th anniversary of Falun Dafa's public introduction and the photo exhibition. In addition, State Senator Margaret R. Henry and State Representative Richard A. Diliberto, Jr. also sent congratulatory letters. A Practitioner made a 20-minute speech entitled "Journey of Falun Dafa," reviewing Falun Dafa's wide spread over the last ten years, (and) today's huge tribulation, the Falun Dafa practitioners in China facing the vicious persecution. After the ceremony, the video "Peaceful Journey of Falun Dafa" was shown.
After the guests viewed the photos, one guest left words on the guest book, "I think Falun Dafa is so wonderful. The Chinese (Jiang's) regime should be denounced and opposed for brutally abusing and mistreating so many Dafa practitioners." Another guest wrote, "The exhibit is so interesting and extraordinary. I have understood the inner meaning of Falun Dafa and noticed that Falun Dafa practitioners in China have been deprived of their basic freedom as citizens (by the Jiang's regime). Please let me know how I can help and support this movement."
At about 11 a.m. on May 16, 2002, Florida Governor Jeb Bush and other officials came to the University of South Florida to sign the new education bill. Tampa city Falun Dafa practitioners talked to the Governor face to face and asked him to request Jiang's regime to stop persecuting Falun Gong.
Governor Bush first shook hands with a Falun Dafa practitioner at the entrance. The practitioner briefly introduced his personal experiences of being persecuted because of practicing Falun Gong and he asked for the help of the Governor. Governor Bush replied firmly, "Absolutely". He took the materials the practitioner prepared for him and said that he would look into this matter.
When the officials were leaving, our practitioners approached Lieutenant Governor Frank Borgan and talked about the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Lt Governor accepted the truth-clarifying materials and expressed his deep sympathy. He wished good luck to the practitioners and took a photo with the practitioners.

Before the officials left, another practitioner had a chance to talk to Governor Jeb Bush. She asked the Governor to sign on the page about Falun Dafa proclamations from Florida State in a truth-clarifying brochure. The media at the site immediately took photos. The university newspaper reporter held a follow-up interview with the practitioners.
During the event, practitioners remembered that we are not just asking for help from the officials in the human world, but we are also clarifying the truth to them and saving them. We are giving them the chance to position themselves (including all the people under their jurisdiction) justly. The practitioners kept righteous thoughts all the time and the effect of Fa-promotion was good.

Practitioners consulted one member of American photographers association who is a Christian, conservative Caucasian, and has been working in photography for several dozen years. After carefully studying the pictures, he said affirmatively that it is impossible to be any known light effect.
The reason why our flesh eyes cannot see Falun is that Falun exists in other dimension, and the light energy Falun emits is so big that it surpasses the view scope of our flesh eyes, so we cannot see it. Light-sensitive film can, at times, record it.
All these photos tell us that Falun Gong is the true science, it reflects the true situation of the universe, and in no way is it imagination or superstition.
(Clearwisdom.net) On Saturday May 11, 2002 the city of Charlotte celebrated its 3rd Annual Asian Festival in honor of Asian heritage and the Asian culture present today in North Carolina. The festival took place in downtown Charlotte at Marshall Park. Practitioners from Chapel Hill and Durham joined the practitioners in Charlotte to sponsor a booth at the festival, offering information on the practice of Falun Gong in the English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean languages and demonstrating the exercises for attendees to observe.
The festival was a pleasant experience for both attendees and Dafa practitioners. The Falun Gong exercise video demonstration attracted many Chinese to the booth with expressions of interest. Many people who knew of Falun Dafa and the persecution in China conversed with the practitioners at the booth and took flyers. Others had the opportunity to learn about Falun Dafa for the first time, asking about the practice and local practice site. Numerous children were excited to receive pinwheels. One Vietnamese practitioner seized the opportunity to clarify the truth to many Vietnamese attendees, providing them with Dafa literature in their own language.

Due to interference of the Chinese Consulate, North Carolina practitioners had stipulations placed upon them for this year's festival. No flyers could be passed out and no material on the persecution could be present. However they did allow us to have a booth this year, unlike the past year, and attendees asked practitioners for both verbal and written information, mentioning their awareness of the persecution. Two practitioners learned that policemen at the festival were told to keep close watch on the Falun Gong booth, yet once one Vietnamese policeman learned what Falun Dafa is and noticed the warm and friendly demeanor of the two practitioners, he realized that special watch for the Falun Gong group was totally unnecessary.
One Vietnamese man attended the local practice in Charlotte the day after the festival. At the closing of the day, Dafa practitioners were very happy in having clarified the truth to the Charlotte community.

Though it had rained heavily during the previous two days, the weather was nice that morning. Many practitioners brought their families to participate in the activity, thus there were many children wearing yellow T-shirts. A practitioner introduced Falun Gong to the audience and explained some of the benefits practitioners have enjoyed both physically and spiritually. He announced that there would be a morning practice from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. at the school and that everyone was welcome to attend. After the completion of the demonstration, the school issued an appreciation letter for their participation in the event.

During the demonstration, some practitioners introduced Falun Gong to students' parents and guests. One lady asked for the time and location of exercise instruction for her husband. She said that she practiced at home for a while and had not found a practice site nearby. She did not know that there were practice sites and Dafa classes in the town until she saw us.

East China University is a new university that has the largest campus in Taiwan. On May 13, 2002, when practitioners from over 50 countries were celebrating World Falun Dafa Day, the Falun Dafa Association at East China University was established. Practitioners at East China University launched a one-week-long series of activities including the "Journey of Falun Dafa" Photo Exhibition, Experience-Sharing Conference, Group Practice and other Fa-promoting activities to set the groundwork for further promoting Falun Dafa at East China University.

On the opening day of the "Journey of Falun Dafa" photo exhibition, a foreign professor who taught English Conversation brought the students to the exhibition hall. Over one hundred photos that recorded the history of ten years of public introduction of Falun Dafa became the best teaching materials. The students began to discuss hotly about "Why China (Jiang) wants to persecute Falun Dafa" and "What kind of cultivation Falun Dafa is" in the exhibition hall.
On the same day, many practitioners from Hualian area came to participate in the activity. At the experience-sharing conference, Ms. Nie Shuwen talked about her personal experiences of cultivation since she obtained Falun Dafa at the Beijing Oriental Heath Expo in 1993. Her speech was sincere and touching. One person from the audience said, "From her experience-sharing, I saw my distance from veteran practitioners. Every mindset from these practitioners was based on Fa-rectification and Fa-promotion."
The series of activities were successfully concluded after a group practice. It was raining lightly, but practitioners from East China University and Hualian Area practiced the five sets of exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts serenely and peacefully in the rain.

New Zealand North Island practitioners held a three-day celebration for "World Falun Dafa Day." They also did voluntary work on May 13, to express their gratitude to the New Zealand government for their support of Dafa. A national TV station in New Zealand did a series of detailed reports, and is planning to broadcast it during prime time to introduce Falun Dafa.
Mo Zhengfang: More than one year ago, the Chinese Embassy in Britain refused to give my daughter a passport with no reason given, and they even said incredibly that "I" canceled my daughter's registration. Later due to pressure, they agreed orally to give my daughter, Xiao Minghui, a travel document. On April 24 I went to the Chinese Embassy, filled out the paper work and had everything settled. But on May 14 when I was supposed to get the document, they changed their minds, and asked me to wait indefinitely for further instructions from authorities.

After practicing Dafa, without any medication, my wife totally recovered from cirrhosis of the liver. In November 1999, we went to Beijing and asked the police in Tiananmen to transfer our appeal letter to the government. But instead we were arrested and sentenced to forced labor for two years, suffering all kinds of hardships. After returning home, my wife was on the verge of death, and her weight had dropped to about 60 lbs. Because she would not give up her belief and is under constant restriction and surveillance, we had to become homeless to avoid further persecution.

Grandpa Yuan sees that all Dafa practitioners are good people, so he often helps his daughter-in-law clarify the truth. He hands out truth-clarifying materials in the ballroom, tells the truth of the self-immolation event in public bath facilities, and persuades the area chief of the resident committee not to interfere with practitioners. One day Grandpa Yuan was hit by a police car while riding his bike, but both Grandpa Yuan and his bike remained intact while the police car's bumper was damaged.

A Dafa practitioner was twice awakened in the middle of the night and taken to a brainwashing class. On the evening of May 10, officers from Baisha Police Station of Wuhan City and the local "610 Office" once again attempted to send her to a brainwashing class. The practitioner refused to go with them and went upstairs. The lawless officials then kicked the stair door open and used a hoe to pry open her bedroom door. They also called the riot police to forcefully kidnap the practitioner to the brainwashing class.
Under pressure from their superiors, police from the Tongzhou District in Beijing illegally arrested several Falun Gong practitioners and confiscated much of their property. Fellow practitioners from Tongzhou, please pay attention to your safety. The police have started carrying out raids against practitioners in some areas in the name of room inspections.
It Is Heaven's Law that "Good is Rewarded with Good, while Evil Meets with Evil"
Thirty years of history: During the Cultural Revolution, 30 to 40 members of the Red Guard (an organization known for violence during the "Cultural Revolution") and people's militia went to the "Holy Land of Buddhism" and smashed Buddha and Bodhisattva sculptures. Over the next 40 years, they have been decimated by mental illness, handicaps, and violent deaths - some were even executed. Only one of the men is still living today.

On May 18, Taiwanese Falun Gong practitioners were invited to demonstrate Falun Gong exercises at the opening ceremony of the Lixin Town Stadium in Taipei County. Looking at this group of people making a great effort to show others that Falun Dafa is good on a weekend under the burning sun, I felt that many people knew in their hearts the magnificence of a Dafa practitioner.

SALZBURG/CITY (Salzburg News-sab). He had distributed flyers in Beijing on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the founding of Falun Gong, to raise awareness of the persecution of Falun Gong: following that, 30-year-old Alexander Hamrle from Vienna was arrested in Beijing. Only after the Austrian legate in Beijing intervened for him was he set free.
Hellmut Lumpi, a 23-year-old law student from Salzburg/Stadt commented, "We were all very concerned about him." Mr. Lumpi accounts for the perhaps ten or so Falun Gong members in Austria and has had similar experiences with restrictions at the hands of Chinese government agencies. He would have loved to travel to China, but is not allowed. Twice already he has applied for a tourist visa; the first time through the Chinese embassy in a city in Switzerland and the second time through the travel agency "Geo." Both times he was rejected.
Geo sells more than 1,400 trips to China every year. Mr. Egger from the travel agency had this to say, "This must surely be a rarity. We have never encountered something like that." Even the Foreign Office in Vienna cannot recall a case such as this.
The Chinese consulate said that Mr. Lumpi's visa has been denied for "technical reasons." This means that Mr. Lumpi's name is on a computer list. But the consular officials refuse to say how his name got on the list.
In all probability it is because he, like Mr. Hamrle in China, distributed flyers in Salzburg containing Falun Gong information, muses Mr. Lumpi. "The flyers contained my name for those who wanted to learn about Falun Gong free of charge."
Falun Gong, freely translated, means "Turning the Law Wheel." According to self-defined explanations of its followers, it is a meditation practice for body, mind and spirit, combining Buddhist and Taoist teachings with qigong, a popular Chinese exercise. The Chinese government [...] banned it in 1999, and since then, followers have been hunted and arrested.
International human rights organizations have repeatedly raised awareness of the repression of this movement. The Gesellschaft fuer bedrohte Voelker (Association for Threatened Peoples) is correct in its criticism of the denial of Mr. Hellmut Lumpi's visa to travel to China.

(Clearwisdom.net) There were many miracle-working doctors in ancient China. The reason a doctor was called a "miracle-worker" came from his supernormal capabilities and wisdom. The miracle manifested itself in their extremely accurate diagnosis and treatment of diseases. It was just incredible!
According to the book Historical Annals, Cang Gong during the reign of Emperor Wen in the Han Dynasty (202 B.C.E. - A.D. 220) was considered to be a miracle-working doctor. There was a man who was suffering from a headache. Cang Gong felt his pulse and decided that it was a very serious disease, beyond help. So he told the patient's brother, "Your brother's disease will soon affect his intestines and stomach; his body will swell up five days later and he will vomit pus and die after eight days." It happened exactly as he said. Zhang Zhongjing of the Han Dynasty was also a brilliant, miracle-working doctor. Once he was diagnosing Wang Zhongxuan who was only seventeen years old. After the observation diagnosis, he said to him, "You have an internal disease and should consume the 'five-stone' soup, otherwise your eyebrows will fall out when you are 30 years old." Wang didn't believe him, nor did he take the medicine. Indeed, his eyebrows did fall out at the age of 30. Miracle-working doctor Hua Tuo was even more of a household word across the land. One patient had a pain in his abdomen. After diagnosing him, Hua Tuo said, "Your disease is deeply rooted and you should have an operation. In any event, you only have ten years to live, whether you have it treated or not. Upon the patient's request, Hua Tuo performed the operation, but he still died 10 years later.
Doctors also showed their amazing abilities in their treatment of diseases, cured many strange diseases and difficult symptoms, and saved lives. Once there was a poor scholar named Zhang Quan who lived during the period of the "Three Kingdoms." He unexpectedly received a bequest of a seven-room house, and was overjoyed by it all. However, his extreme joy led to sorrow and he developed symptoms, which compelled him to laugh uncontrollably and which could not be cured for a long time. Later accompanied by his father, he went to see Hua Tuo. After feeling his pulse, Hua Tuo shook his head and said, "Your disease is not curable. It is beyond my capability." The father and son were shocked at what they were told and knelt down to beg for help. Hua Tuo said, "I have a disciple called Wu Pu who lives in Xuzhou. Let me write a letter to him and maybe he can help. Remember, do not open the letter on the way and you must arrive within 10 days, otherwise your life will be in danger." It took eight days for the father and son to get there. Upon reading the letter Wu Pu burst out laughing. It turned out that the letter read, "The visitor can not help laughing uncontrollably due to extreme over-joy. It could not be helped with medicine, so I purposely told him that he was sick to death to make him worry and be anxious. The day they arrive will be the day he is cured." Only then did the father and son realize that the son's symptoms were gone. From the viewpoint of modern medical science, this was actually a type of psychotherapy treatment.
There was another case told in Hua Tuo Bie Zhuan [The Stories About Hua Tuo] that someone had symptoms of dizziness and could not be cured for a long time. Hua Tuo asked him take off all his clothes, hung him upside down and used wet cloth to wipe his whole body. His pulse then showed five colors. Hua Tuo cut his pulse with a knife and drained the five-colored blood, then applied a plaster to the cut. The dizziness of the patient disappeared immediately. The strange way of treatment was truly a work of art at its best.
How can miracle-working doctors be so amazing? It was mainly because of their sophisticated medical skills resulting from a long time of practice. We cannot exclude the fact that these doctors have some kind of special gift, even certain supernormal capabilities. Take the "observation diagnosis" in Chinese medicine for example. Ordinary doctors use it only for observing the color changes of the skin, the size of the pupils, the thickness of the coating on the tongue, while for miracle-working doctors it is a kind of latent form of communication through which the subject and the object achieve a divine interaction. Bian Que of the "Spring and Autumn Period" had such abilities. It was recorded in Historical Annals that Bian Que used to be in charge of an inn when he was young. A guest named Chang Sangjun became very close friends with him. Once, Chang Sangjun wanted to teach Bian Que a secret prescription. He took out a kind of medicine wrapped in a piece of cloth and said, "You need to take this medicine with rainwater before the rainwater drops to the ground. Thirty days later you can see what ordinary people cannot see." He then gave Bian Que the book with secret prescriptions. Bian Que took the medicine according to what Chang Sangjun told him. Thirty days later he could see people through walls. With such eyesight, he could clearly see all the symptoms in his patients. It must also be told that Zhang Zhongjing and Hua Tuo practiced Qigong routinely, which might have induced supernormal capabilities. Through all this, in addition to their diligent study and using their mind, which led to their high morals and sophisticated skills, they eventually became miracle-working doctors of their time.
