From an Elementary School Teacher in China: Teaching Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to Students

(Clearwisdom.net) I am a teacher and I have to be responsible to my students. To evaluate my students, I use the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I tell them what kind of people they should grow up to be; I teach them to memorize poems from Hong Yin. I am so touched by the sound of the children reading the poems aloud.

I was forced to leave the first school that I had taught in. Before I left, I asked my students, "What is Falun Gong?" They answered, "Falun Gong is about Truthfulness- Compassion-Forbearance."

Soon after I began teaching at a second school, my students' academic performance improved; their behavior also changed for the better. In one instance, Student A said to Student B, "My grandpa has a bad temper. He does not like it when I bring my classmates home." B said, "Why don't you ask him to practice Falun Gong? His bad temper will change." I was so happy when I heard this. Those young people were changing; children are so pure. But soon after, I was again fired and I had to seek employment at a third school.

At the third school, I was hired as a homeroom teacher. After only a month, my class was ranked the highest in behavior within the school. During the second term, when I was teaching Fifth Grade, the school honored me with the "Most Excellent Homeroom Teacher" award. When other teachers asked me how I achieved it, I told them that Falun Gong is the key to my success in teaching the children.

After six months at my third school, someone complained to the school administrators that I (Yang Hui) practiced Falun Gong and that was the reason why I was fired from my previous teaching assignment. The person demanded that the school had to do something about my belief in Falun Gong, or else he/she would complain to the school board, and the board would then close the school. The school was going to fire me. After reading Teacher Li's article "Beyond the Limits of Forbearance," I realized that I should not let them do bad things like this, and that I had to negate the arrangement of the old forces. So, I called the supervisor of the accuser and told him about what his subordinate had done. At the same time, I told them the truth about Falun Gong and the importance of not committing sins against it. Twenty minutes later, along with the school principal, I was driven back to my school, which was presented with a written apology.

I managed to stay at the school and continued to guide the children. At the same time, I continued to clarify the truth to my colleagues and told them some of the basic law and principles of Falun Gong.
