Video clips of "Self-Immolation or Deception?" produced by the North America Illumination Television Station, were posted on Minghui (the Chinese version of Clearwisdom) during March of 2001. Since then through mid May of this year, this video footage has been one of the three most accessed items on Minghui during each of the previous 14 months.

Since the "Self-Immolation or Deception?" video file was made available 14 months ago, the number of visits to it has continuously grown. Although the persecutors within the Chinese Government try extensively to block Minghui in Mainland China, the number of people who access this truth-clarifying video clip through Minghui has increased by more than 4,000 people per month on average. Additionally, many existing subscribers have passed the clip onto others, and many people have viewed it on related mirror websites, freenet websites, confidential websites and through other sources.

On the afternoon of January 23^rd, 2001, five people allegedly "self-immolated" at Tiananmen Square. Within two hours, the Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese Government's primary news agency, reported the incident in English to the entire world, and slanderously announced that they were Falun Gong practitioners. Normally, every report that Xinhua News Agency issues must first go through many levels of approval, which is a time-consuming process. However, this report was issued extraordinarily fast. Fortunately, the practitioners at North America Illumination TV analyzed the video footage from CCTV (China Central Television Station) while viewing it at an extremely slow speed. When slowed down, many suspicious details surfaced, clearly indicating that the "self-immolation" incident was staged.

Two months after "Self-Immolation or Deception?" was launched to clarify the truth, CCTV, for any of the airings of it's video tape of the so-called "self-immolation," cut all of the footage containing the suspicious points that practitioners had found during their analysis.
