Hu Jintao, the vice Chairman of China, arrived in Washington DC for a state visit on April 30 2002. Some practitioners of DC gathered near the hotel where Hu was staying and along the streets where he would pass by. They were peacefully appealing to him to put a stop to the persecution against Falun Gong while letting the Chinese delegation see that Falun Dafa is well accepted in America.

In the morning, before Hu arrived at the Willard Hotel, some practitioners were already waiting for him. When Hu's motorcade arrived, Falun Gong practitioners raised banners reading, "Falun Dafa is good" and "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" to let the members of Chinese delegation see that there are many people who practice Falun Gong in America.

At about 3 p.m., Hu left the hotel for Capitol Hill. Along the road that the motorcade drove by, they could also see practitioners holding banners. In the evening at around 6:30 p.m., Hu's delegation got off in front of the State Department. One clever practitioner spoke to him only 15 feet away, "Please remember Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance are good." Other practitioners sang the song "Falun Dafa is good" to express their voice from the heart.

Three groups of people had assembled in front of the U.S. State Department this afternoon. Only the Falun Dafa practitioners' group was very peaceful, without waving flags and making noises. They were very quiet. Some stood and held the banners that read, "Falun Dafa is good" and "Stop Persecuting Falun Gong." Some practiced the exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts. The beautiful movements and music attracted many policemen and reporters. Practitioners also distributed many truth-clarifying materials to the Chinese people at the site.

Some Chinese people living in DC told the practitioners, "You are all good people. After the persecution is over and the good name of Falun Gong is restored, we will come to learn Falun Gong together." After 8 p.m., Hu's motorcade left the State Department. The practitioners said goodbye to and shook hands with the police at the U.S. State Department. The police said, "We understand you very well. Good luck!"
