Chinese Consulate in U.S. Tries To Illegally Obtain Calling Card Customers' Identities
(Clearwisdom.net) An American calling card company owner told Falun Gong
practitioners that lately, officials from the Chinese Consulate frequently show
up trying to get his company to provide them with card buyers' identities, using
threats, bribes and other such means. They said that someone in America had
"disturbed" some concerned officials in China using phone cards and
hinted that Falun Gong was the cause. This person knows the truth about Falun
Gong and the persecution, and did not cooperate with the official's attempt at
spying. He told the Chinese Consulate's representative sternly, "This is
America, not China. Doing what you ask would be against American law and will
get a person thrown in jail. Besides, there are thousands of people calling
China everyday. Even if all of you in the Consulate come to do this, you
couldn't do it." The owner kindly advises Falun Gong practitioners that when buying a calling
card, it is best to check and see if the company has Chinese government backing
before providing personal information.
