The Path Returning Home (10) March 21, 2002
(Clearwisdom.net)
13. A Crime in the Abandoned Building In the morning of our second day in this place, the thirteenth day of our hunger
strike, the police took off my handcuffs and told me that someone wanted to talk
to me. I did not know what trick they were going to play this time. I was taken
to an office on the first floor, where there were three policemen from the
police station. One of the three was a director whose surname was Wang, another
one was Liu Zongcai, and the third one has the surname of Peng. They said they
wanted to help me solve my problem. I told them the reason for the hunger strike
and our mistreatment. I also said that we had no choice but to hunger strike
because we were not criminals and should not be illegally detained. There were
no means left for us to use to appeal. We were incarcerated and brutally
persecuted in this earthly hell. I appealed to them, asking that they not
persecute the innocent but rather respect basic human values and human rights,
or at least follow the law rather than ignore it. However, they replied by
saying that they were not the ones establishing the policy, and would only
follow what their "superiors" told them to do. I said, "'Superiors' would not
allow police to curse and torture practitioners, yet you still beat us. Now you
want to solve my problem, but you say that you can't make a decision. Then what
is the point of talking to me?" They said that it was not very convenient to talk there, so they wanted to move
to another location, the abandoned building across the street. I knew that they
were going to do something bad and that they did not dare to let others know. On
the way to the building, I told them, "Today is the thirteenth day of my hunger
strike. I can still walk with ease and talk to you like this. Think about it,
could a non-practitioner make it? Could you make it?" I told them that if I had
not practiced Dafa, I would have been in far worse condition. I might even have
already died from the brutal persecution. However, they ascribed this to some
kind of mental side effect. I asked them, "You take Communism as your belief.
Can you show me a side effect from Communism like this?" They became silent.
(1) Vicious Policeman Guo Zhenshan Ferociously Commits Crimes
Upon arriving at the building, they dragged an old table into the room to
take notes. I said, "You claim to be solving the problem for me, however you do
not do anything with the policemen who committed the crime. Rather, you take
notes of my words. I will not do this." They asked, "Who persecuted you?" I
said, "It was Jiang Zemin and a handful of evil persons who used their power to
persecute Falun Gong and illegally detain good people. There are also some
accomplices who acted as hired thugs. All of them will be brought to justice
some day." After listening to my words, policeman Liu Zongcai began to shout
slanderous words. Seeing that I kept silent, they cuffed one of my hands to the
bed, and said that they would report this to their leaders. At 3:00 p.m.,
several other policemen came. They pressed me down on the bed and tried to cuff
both of my hands. I struggled to resist it. Then the director of the police
station Wang grabbed one of my legs and forcefully pushed upwards while others
exerted all their strength to press down on my other leg. I looked at him
without saying anything. I thought that he was nearly in his fifties and must
have had a family, a wife, daughters and sons, yet his heart was so venomous. He
did not know that he was harming others and himself as well. What a pity for
him! Noticing that I was staring at him without saying anything, he released his
hands and said, "I forgive you this time."
Two policewomen named Mou Chunyan and Lu Yanxia remained in the building,
enlisting the help of a criminal inmate as well, to watch me. I wanted to go to
the bathroom, but they refused to remove the handcuffs. So I exerted my strength
and banged the bed with the handcuffs. Mou Chunyan called He Qiang. Shortly
after, about a dozen policemen came. One of the vicious policemen grabbed me by
the hair from behind, took my head and slammed it against the mattress board
repeatedly. Another tried to cuff my feet, but failed, so they wound rope around
my feet and tied them down to the bed. They then wound rope around my entire
body until I could not move at all. The evil policeman that I had complained
about then beat my head until he became exhausted, then he put his black hand on
my face, pressing on my nose and mouth to make me unable to breathe. Seeing that
I really could not bear it any more, he stopped. Then he used his fists to beat
both sides of my face while saying, "Do you remember me? Do you know me?" He
kept on beating me until my face became numb and I lost consciousness. I looked
at his evil face and said to him, "You beat a lady like this? You have no human
nature! Don't you have a mother and wife at home?" The troublemaker replied,
"Are you my mother?" and punched my face several times.
I told him, "How can you call yourself a policeman? You are a degenerate and
a troublemaker! Although you dare to commit crimes, your crimes will sooner or
later be published on the Internet, so that all the people in the world will
know what degenerate policemen like you are doing!" He brazenly laughed and
said, "Go to the Internet, I don't care! I can hardly wait." Then he hit my face
several times and this was followed by wild laughs from those around him. One of
them pulled out a hazelnut and said to me in a mean way, "Do you want me to feed
you?" I did not reply to him, he then spit out the hazelnut shell on me and
threw the hazelnut onto my face and neck. The police blinded me with a
flashlight while speaking dirty words. Right before leaving, they told the two
policewomen, "Do not allow her to go to the restroom, just let her use her
pants."
After a long time, a policeman said that the degenerate who beat me was named
Guo Zhenshan. He was the director of the Jiamusi Labor Camp Political Division
and was a troublemaker notorious for abusing women.
(2) Mentally Devastated and Physically Tortured
This time I was handcuffed to the bed for 40 days, just as police officer He
Qiang had said. Unlike Liu Hongguang, He Qiang did not handcuff us for only a
few days. The other practitioners were all handcuffed for 35 days, as well.
During these 40 days chained to a bed in the abandoned building, at least 20
policemen and many other criminal inmates watched me in turns. I clarified the
truth to them, telling them about the persecution I had suffered. Most of them
were very sympathetic to me, and were not against Dafa. There were also a few
blind followers of the Party who said, "I will not do it if the Party tells me
not to. If some day the Party allows Falun Gong to be practiced, I will
practice." I then asked one of them, "If the Party tells you to kill someone,
say kill your family members, are you going to kill them?" In fact the question
is this simple. I do not understand why these people do not have any conscience
or the ability to discern right from wrong.
Most of them had not had any contact with Dafa practitioners before and had
been fooled by the evil propaganda. Revealing the truth to them, their close
contact with practitioners gradually changed their minds. They realized that
Falun Dafa practitioners are all good people. Later, when the watch guard was
not on duty, they would remove the handcuffs for me to let me take a break and
have a bath. They even allowed me to do the exercises.
I had waged a hunger strike for 20 days. He Qiang said, "Everyone has already
eaten except you. Do you still not want to eat?" Failing to understand the Fa
from within the Fa, I thought that it was useless to continue the hunger strike
by myself. Therefore I stopped under the policewoman's persuasion.
During the days when I was handcuffed, the evil tortured me both physically
and mentally. One day the vice-party director cursed Falun Gong, calling us
dregs of society and defaming Teacher with dirty words from his
mean-thought-filled mind. I told him to be quiet and that every single word and
behavior of his made actually made him fall into the category of a dreg of
society. I also told him that only a person who had a dirty mind like his could
do the dirty things he did. Zhu Tiehong and a person named Fu were echoing each
other, talking vicious nonsense. I turned my face away from them with tears
flowing from my eyes. I felt very bad in my heart because I did not do a good
job, which resulted in the evil's being able to viciously defame Teacher. I
decided to pay no attention to the two evil people. Zhu Tiehong then called a
newly arrived criminal inmate to shake my head violently. Feeling that this
criminal did not work hard enough, she called another, convicted for
prostitution and drug abuse, to violently shake my head. The torture did not
stop until they left with a wicked laugh.
Shortly after, the newly arrived criminal quietly told me, "Don't be angry
sister, although I just came here, I know that you are all good people. I have
to do this, please forgive me." Later I mentioned this to a policewoman, she
said angrily "Why don't you ask them what they are shaking you for? Are they
going to take responsibility if this caused your death? How come they shake you
while you still have very high blood pressure? If they do this again, next time
you can sue them through the Inspection Department."
After being abused by the two evil people, I continued my hunger strike for 6
days. On the third day a vicious doctor from the clinic named Yang wanted to
force feed me, and I refused. She seized my hair and pinched my nose while
forcibly sticking in the tube until it was inserted into my trachea. This made
me unable to speak. She pulled out the tube and intended to insert it again. I
told her that she was killing me, and I tried to stop her. At this time, the
vicious policewoman Liu Chunlan brought several female criminals in in order to
force-feed me again. I said to Liu, "Don't you realize that I will choke to
death if you stick it into my trachea? Aren't you afraid of taking
responsibility?" Then they switched people.
During my hunger strike, they force fed me a lot of salt and soybean milk
with unknown drugs many times. After the force feeding my throat was covered
with salty and bitter juice, I would vomit and have diarrhea as well as a dry
tongue, which was too painful for me to bear.
During this time, the criminals told me that the letter written to me by a
Beijing traitor (a former practitioner who had renounced Falun Dafa) had
been broadcast without my permission. The captain, Zhang Xiaodan, carried a copy
of it. She told me that she had made many copies and distributed them to other
practitioners. I protested to He Qiang for illegally opening my personal mail
without my permission. I also told him that the traitor's letter was a very bad
one that had a lot of lies. It not only cheated more people by broadcasting it,
but also caused a bigger crime for the person who wrote the letter. He urged me
to sue them. I told him that suing them is not the purpose, and hopefully they
would no longer do this. Just then did he say that this would never happen
again.
(3) Disclosing evil while the police retaliate
There were extremely bad policewomen too. Liu Yingzhi was one of them. She
abetted an inmate (a prostitute and drug addict) to hit and swear at others. She
told me shamelessly in front of my younger brother and a guard named Zhang that
she did so because she didn't like the other policewomen treating me so well.
This completely exposed her abnormal psychology.
Every time she was on duty, the inmate behaved as if she had police support,
and would speak a lot of bad words. When practitioners were sent food from the
dining room, she would say they were going to feed a pig. I conducted a hunger
strike for two days, and I have reported this to the authority, but no one did
anything to stop her.
One day Liu Yingzhi was back on duty. She told the inmate something and the
inmate proceeded to swear at me for more than twenty minutes. I said, "How could
you possibly say such low words?" She even beat me. Liu Yingzhi called He Qiang.
In front of another policewoman, she shifted the blame to me saying that it was
me who swore at and beat the criminal. While the witnessing policewoman said it
wasn't the fact, she then claimed that it was the policewoman that I swore at
and beat. How unreasonable! In the end, even though He Qiang knew that it wasn't
my fault, he ordered that I be handcuffed. The second day after, while I was
still cuffed, He Qiang had someone write a sheet of rules and post them on my
door. One said that no police were allowed to walk in and talk to me. The police
were furious at this. They asked, "What is this rule all about? We are limited
too?" They talked to the authority of the labor camp about this.
Later on I asked He Qiang why he was so unreasonable and had ordered them to
cuff me. He said angrily, "It was you who reported me to the person from the
Judiciary Department. More than twenty people told me this. I have been trying
to find an excuse to punish you and couldn't find it! That's why I kept you
cuffed up." What he was mentioning was that on the second day when I was cuffed,
I reported about the persecution in the camp to a representative of the
Judiciary Department. I did so in front of the head of the labor camp, people in
charge of the institute and the police, altogether more than twenty people. I
questioned He Qiang, "Was it you or not who had me cuffed for more than 40 days?
Didn't you cuff practitioners and torture them on Spring Festival Eve?" Didn't
you force us to eat and excrete inside our room and not allow us to go out for
some fresh air in order to forcibly transform us? Didn't you deceived your
superiors and deluded your subordinates trying to conceal the truth of this
transformation? How can you dare to do these things yet be afraid of it being
talked about? If you were doing what was right, why are you so afraid of being
exposed?" He talked nonsense, saying, "It wasn't all done by me. No matter what,
you reported me, so I want to cuff you." Moreover, he said ill--naturedly, "To
deal with you Falun Gong, we've got to cuff you. It is of no use to prolong your
terms. You wouldn't be afraid even if you're held for ten thousand years,
because when the Fa rectifies the human world, you'll all get out." He even said
more ill--naturedly, "If it was just for me, I would shoot you all, like was
done on June 4 (Editor's note: Tiananmen Massacre happened on June 4, 1989). Then see who will still practice." I said, "Impossible! But
listen, even if you drag me out to shoot me now, I will have a smile on my face.
Otherwise, I wouldn't be a Dafa disciple." In fact how can evil understand that
true practitioners have let go of life and death a long time ago? We only have
one thought in mind, "Steadfastly cultivate Dafa, the will unflinching."(Essentials
for Further Advancement II True Nature Revealed)
Later on another policewoman on duty told me, "I'll never stay in the same
team with Liu Yingzhi again, her quality is too bad! I feel shameful to be in
the same team as her!" She reported to the vice commissar and told him his
objection to Liu Yingzhi. A department police told me, "Being a disciplinary
inspector, Liu Yingzhi is so ill-natured. I don't even want to talk with her
now." Another policewoman told me, "Liu is so low, and everyone now knows how
she is."
After I was cuffed, I started a hunger strike. On the fifth day, they started
to tube-feed me. On the sixth day a policewoman told me, "They're so bad,
talking about how to discipline you. They said they would charge you 10 yuan
each time until you run out of all your money in the book. They'll frame you.
You shouldn't let them feed you tomorrow." Liu Yingzhi provoked Zhu Tiehong, and
Zhu Tiehong came to the abandoned building and threatened she would discipline
me to death. A policewoman reported for me to the group about this. When she
came back, she said Zhu Tiehong yelled at her.
On the sixth day, more than ten people came. They wanted to tube-feed me
again. I said, "Wait! Let me finish my words." I told them why I was on hunger
strike. After that, the prison doctor said, "We know you're being treated
unjustly. I'll report it for you. But we have to feed you, otherwise how will it
do if you don't eat?" I said, "You won't get it in." The tube turned out getting
into the trachea both times even though they changed two people during the
process. They had to leave because they didn't know what to do.
On the same day, Gong Chunbo and Liu Chunlan took the cuffs off me and tore
down the rules. The drug-addict criminal who beat me had their term prolonged
for another month, and Liu Yingzhi said she would never be on duty again. As it
turned out, Liu Yingzhi and Shi Libo from the Accounting Office had taken
several thousand-yuan bribes from the criminal and released her even before her
regular term was over. There were no laws or principles in the labor camp.
Everything was completely based on money and power.
Liu Chunlan had been trying to persuade me to write a renunciation of Dafa
for a long time. She said she would guarantee my going back home soon if I was
"transformed." She could also then retire early because of her achievement. She
said that surely it would cause a sensation by airing on TV. She told me to
think about it carefully, "Don't be silly by suffering in here. You could be
living a good life outside." I told her to stop dreaming. Seeing her deception
failed, she again said. "since you won't write the renunciation, you can obey
the rules and regulations of the labor camp by taking part in labor and study.
You'll get a reduced term also." I told her, "I'm not a criminal, and I'm not
here to be reformed. I will never join any labor or study." Thus, I did not do
any forced labor during my illegal detention in the labor camp for a year and
five months.
(4) Hearing "You are not allowed to beat people", policeman Li Xin lashed out
at a practitioner.
On the evening of May 21, 2001 a fellow practitioner, Wang Yuhong, was
escorted into my room by several policemen and was handcuffed to the Dead
Person's Bed (The four limbs are stretched out and tied to the four corners
of an icy-cold metal bed. The practitioner cannot move at all. Neither is he
allowed to get up to eat, drink, or go to the bathroom. This treatment lasts
from several hours to more than a dozen days. This cruel torture causes severe
damage to the practitioner both mentally and physically.) At that moment,
she looked very pale, and her face was swollen from beatings. Even I did not
recognize her. She told the policeman who handcuffed her, "Yu Dalong, when you
beat us, you are doing something evil." He replied: "If you call me by my name,
I will beat you again." There were still three other practitioners who were
locked up in the neighboring room. I knew two of them -- Fan Xirong and Jin
Lihong. I did not know the name of the third person. Wang Yuhong is still being
illegally detained in the labor camp. The long-term persecution has made her
physically very feeble.
The two policewomen Zhu Tiehong and Chen Chunmei, followed by the prisoners,
searched Wang Yuhong's body for Teacher's articles. When Zhu Tiehong saw me, she
said, "Also search her body to see whether she has the articles." I replied,
"You have locked me up alone in an abandoned building for three months, and now
you think of searching me? The articles are all in my head and there is no way
you can take them away from me."
At the same time that they were searching Wang Yuhong's body, the police also
ordered other practitioners out from the "strictly disciplined team" and
searched them one by one. When they were searching Wang Junhua's body, they used
electric batons to shock her face, neck, mouth and hands and forced her to give
over her copy of Teacher's articles. She held tightly to her pant pocket and did
not let her hand go. The brutal policeman shocked her hand with an electric
baton. She continued to hold tightly and only did she let her hand go when we
could smell flesh burning. She quickly rethought about the fact that she had
released her hand and again held tightly to her pants. Since that incident, the
police have left us alone. As one of the policemen, He Qiang said, "Someone said
you all had the scriptures, but I did not ask them to search you individually,
neither did I ask them to search your cell inside out. Unless we witness it from
the monitoring room, we will not search each person individually." What he said
did not come out of compassion, rather it was the dignity of Dafa practitioners
that had deterred the evil.
After the police had gone, security guards from the government office
remained. I asked Wang Yuhong to tell me what had happened. Wang Yuhong said
that day Fu Meilin, a practitioner said she had a headache and could not join
the drill. She was asked by one of the policewomen to go with her to the office.
A few minutes later, they heard her cry and ran over to see what was happening.
Liu Chunlan and the other policemen did not allow them to get through the door.
At dusk, Liu ordered them to come over to talk. Hardly had they reached the
bottom of the steps when Liu ordered a dozen policemen to beat the four female
practitioners. Later they locked them up and held them captive there.
The next day, the policemen hoped to take notes of practitioners'
conversations to use against them in order to prolong their prison terms. Wang
Yuhong said, "I don't want to say anything. I want to speak with Commissar Fu."
Officer Li Xin came in to ask the other policemen, Xie Ying and Miao Xueqi,
whether they had recorded what the practitioners had said. When he learned that
they had not, Li Xin gave Wang Yuhong a violent slap on the face. I stood up
immediately and said, "You are not allowed to beat people." Li Xin, like an
insane dog, jumped up against me and grabbed my hair and forced me to turn
around and beat me severely. He slapped me on the face with force while
uttering, "I will beat you to death." I responded, "You are beating people and
committing evil acts. You will have to pay for what you have done today." When
he heard this, he again grabbed my hair and slapped me on my face. Zhu Tiehong
stood aside looking. I said to her: "When you see him beating people without any
reason, how come you do not stop him?" The policeman again slapped me violently
on my face. Zhu Tiehong said nothing. The assistant section chief of the
administration section Yan rushed in and saw that I was being beaten. He not
only did not stop the beating, he reprimanded me. I told him: "Can't you see
that he is committing physical assault? I only asked him to not beat people and
he responded by further assaulting us." Li Xin continued to grab my hair and did
not let go. He said, "Handcuff her too." Miao Xueqi took over the handcuffs,
while Li Xin grabbed me by my hair and dragged me into the corridor. I held on
to a thick pipe and did not let them drag me away. I asked Zhu Tiehong, "Why
don't you stop him? He is committing crimes." Zhu Tiehong did not stop him.
Instead she helped him to drag me to another room at the end of the corridor.
They handcuffed one hand of mine to the iron bed. When I used my hand to stroke
my hair, a whole handful of hair fell off. Li Xin was responsible for my hair
falling out.
With two glass windows between us, I still heard the sound of the electric
batons used to shock the other practitioners. I stood up and saw Li Xin holding
up the electric baton to shock and beat Wang Yuhong on her face, neck and the
rest of her body. Over and over again they shocked her down to the ground. Zhu
Tiehong was standing aside and looking. In the middle room, two policewomen Gong
Chunbo and Liu Zongcai were interrogating another practitioner. I cried out,
asking Li Xin to stop. He did not. I cried out to Gong Chunbo and Zhu Tiehong to
stop them from committing further physical assault. Gong Chunbo pretended not to
listen. Zhu Tiehong not only did not stop him, she brought over another man to
handcuff my other hand to the iron bed. I could not stand up, but I could still
hear the sound of the inhumane beatings and electric shock. My heart almost
broke. Tears rolled down my face. After I was severely beaten, nobody criticized
Li Xin for his evil deeds. They handcuffed me to the Dead Person's Bed for seven
days. Wang Yuhong was handcuffed for over half a month.
I asked Liu Chunlan why the evil policemen beat practitioners. She said, "You
deserve to be beaten. Tonight we will continue to beat you." She is part of the
disciplinary inspection cadre of the labor camp and a deputy team leader
temporarily in charge of the Third Team. She is a woman and a mother too. Her
daughter also works as a disciplinary guard in the forced labor camp. Despite
all this Liu Chunlan is still so savage. She committed crimes without mercy and
fear of being caught.
One week later the officer, Gong Chunbo told me that if I wrote a
self-criticism, they would release my handcuffs. I replied, "Policemen beat me
and you locked me up for seven days. And now you want me to write a
self-criticism? If you don't release my handcuffs, I will not eat even if I am
starved to death." Finally they removed my handcuffs. From the window I could
see that Wang Yuhong's face had been scratched.
One day, Commissar Fu came to make an inspection of those on duty. I told him
that Li Xin had beaten the practitioners. He asked knowing full well the answer,
"Who beat you? Did someone beat you?" I said, "It was Li Xin." I also pointed to
Yu Dalong beside him, "Also him -- Yu Dalong." Several policemen burst into
roars of laughter. Yu Dalong flew into a rage from shame and pulled out a gun
and pointed it at me and said, "If you use my name again, I will put handcuffs
back on you." I said, "How come I can not use your name? Isn't your name how
someone should identify you?" Liu Chunlan said, "You have to call him Section
Chief Yu. You should not say Yu Dalong." After she said this, Fu gave a snort.
Several of them stormed out of the room.
One week later, police officers Mu Chunyan and Lu Yanxia were again on duty.
Li Xin came to check on them in the evening. He said to the two policewomen
indecently "You can both go. I will sleep here and I will make them all go out
on bail to see the doctor." The two policewomen laughed lustfully. These are the
present "People's Police". They heartlessly beat us and humiliated us. When we
made our situation known to them none of them upheld justice. On the contrary,
they brazenly supported each other.
Wang Yuhong went on hunger strike after she was beaten. Everyday she kept
vomiting, but was still savagely force-fed. She was illegally sentenced to three
years of forced labor in October 1999. In the labor camp, she was tortured
severely. She was reduced to a skeleton. However she always remained firm in her
belief in Dafa and Teacher and refused to give in to the insane persecution.
During the time she was handcuffed, she still taught me to recite new
scriptures. We encouraged each other and did not give in. We refused to listen
to the evil's orders and demands. She said she would no longer join in the labor
and brainwashing study. She would rather be locked in the "strictly disciplined
team."
After Wang Yuhong was locked up in the abandoned building, Dafa practitioner
An Hong from Jiamusi was also handcuffed to a Dead Person's Bed in another room
since she refused to follow the policemen's order to watch TV. The prisoners
were incited by Gong Chunbo to handcuff An Hong very tightly, which was
unbearably painful. One week later, the policemen believed that they could now
bring her under control. When they asked her whether she would go back to watch
TV, she said she did not want to watch, and neither would she join in any forced
labor activities, since she was not a prisoner. And she would never be a
prisoner. The policemen continued to handcuff her for many more days.
For the three months before they came, I did not have contact with any
practitioners. I did not hear any new scriptures. When they came, they recited
to me, "Coercion Cannot Change People's Hearts" and "Dafa Disciples'
Righteous Thoughts are Powerful." Wang Yuhong told me they had asked a
prisoner to pass me the scriptures before, but the prisoner handed it to the
policemen. The policemen offered prisoners a reduction in their prison terms as
a reward for those who handed in scriptures taken from practitioners. The police
would prolong the terms and beat those who were found to pass around the
scriptures. In this way, they forced the prisoners to commit crimes.
Half a month later, Wang Yuhong and An Hong were locked up in the "strictly
disciplined team." I was left alone in the abandoned building. When the
prisoners helped them with their luggage and supported them with their hands to
go downstairs, I turned my back and could not help shedding tears. How good are
those days that we are able to spend with fellow practitioners, even if we are
only able to say something through the glass!
It was June and it became hotter every day. All the windows were fastened
completely with nails. Only the window in the corridor could be opened. It was
very stuffy in the room. One morning I stood by the door and looked outside
through the window in the corridor. At this moment, the prisoner who watched
over me forcibly pushed me back into the room. I asked her why she did what she
did and she said, "The director saw you and was yelling loudly. Go back to the
room quickly." "I did not see her. Am I not even allowed to breathe some fresh
air?" "Go back quickly, otherwise I will have bad luck," the prisoner said. A
while later, Gong Chunbo took a one-inch nail and fastened the window in the
corridor. Since I had been locked up in the abandoned building I had never had
the chance to go downstairs. I could not see the sunshine or have a chance to
breathe fresh air. The bedpan was left inside the room and was emptied by a
prisoner everyday. Even under such conditions, the evil policemen kept the
window in the corridor nailed shut. They were afraid of justice, afraid of me
having contact with fellow practitioners. They were even afraid of me seeing my
fellow practitioners from far away.
