(Clearwisdom.net) In 1999, the police department instructed me to monitor my neighbor [in the same apartment building] who was practicing Falun Gong. I have known my neighbor for many years. He is upright and honest and always happy to help others. However, the television propaganda said that Falun Gong practitioners kill people, commit suicide and do not take medicine when they are ill. Since I am a member of the Party and I believed that the Party could not go wrong, I opened my door and monitored my neighbor whenever I was at home.

After quite long a time I have discovered that his actions and words are just the opposite of what is described on the television. For example, the propaganda says that Falun Gong practitioners just practice all the time and do not hold jobs. However, he not only works diligently in his work unit but also cleans our stairways very well. His work unit leaders said that their job would be much easier if there were more people practicing Falun Gong and that there were not many people as good as Falun Gong practitioners. I just cannot figure out why Jiang, the Chinese President, wants to mobilize the whole society to persecute Falun Gong-- possibly because Falun Gong practitioners are so upright while the ruling Party is too far away from people's standards. Nowadays, the government also forces us to watch the video programs that slander Falun Gong, and to sign on their banners that have words slandering Falun Gong. One middle-school student was punished just for saying, "Falun Gong is good." Content that slanders Falun Gong is even added to elementary school textbooks. How despicable and brazen it is!

Now the propaganda claims that people have been "transformed" [i.e., brainwashed]. However, according to what I have seen, most Falun Gong practitioners are still practicing. The small portion of them who had written the "repentance letter," [used by the government to indicate a practitioner has giving up practicing Falun Gong] have also declared one after another that what they had said and written are no longer valid and they will resume their cultivation. In my eyes, the propaganda is obviously false. Fortunately, we have learned to understand the propaganda in the opposite way. From the propaganda I have seen the dignity and sacredness of Falun Dafa. I want to read Falun Gong books on the Internet, but the access to the Falun Gong website is blocked by those in power. This can only indicate that those in power have done something that they do not dare to make public. People have the ability of differentiating right from wrong. Recently, the newspaper has been saying that one Falun Gong practitioner strangled her daughter to death. I could hardly believe this propaganda, since several previous false reports about the self-immolation in Tiananmen Square were exposed by the videos on the Cable Television Network in Changchun City, Jilin Province, this March. I hope to be able to know the truth about this incident soon. Evil can never defeat righteousness. From Falun Gong practitioners, I see the hope for mankind. I will no longer do anything that is against Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance. Friends, I believe that you can also differentiate the truth from the lies and tell good from evil.
