1. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Persecutors Check Out Tenants in Rented Apartments

Recently, the Jilin City government started to undertake door-to-door checks of rented apartments. Community offices and police stations check and register every residence. We hope that practitioners who have been forced to leave their homes and are now renting apartments in the city will be careful, and send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil behind the persecution, using righteous thoughts and wisdom to reject the arrangements of the old evil forces and the persecution from wicked human beings.

2. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Gangtun Police Station in Lianshan District Abducts 5 Practitioners

On May 22 and 23, 2002, Gangtun Police station abducted practitioner Zhang Guangxia (female), Liu Yan, Pei Yuxia (female), Luo Youhe, and Du Xiaomei (female) and sent them to the Xifei Hostel brainwashing classes in Xingcheng.

Since April 25, 2002, police from Suizhong County, Huludao City have abducted about 20 practitioners. They have sent the abducted practitioners to detention centers, brainwashing classes and forced labor camps.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Crimes in Heizuizi Forced labor Camp

Instigated by the guards, inmate Zhang Jing (convicted and sentenced to the forced labor camp for theft) from the No. 1 Group forces the practitioners to write letters renouncing Falun Gong by torturing them in various ways. Zhang uses needles to prick the practitioners' fingers, forces them to stay awake all night and handcuffs them.

Due to poor health, practitioner Xiang Lijie cannot take care of himself. The guards do not allow Xiang's family members to visit him, and they beat and force-feed the practitioner. Practitioner Zhang Shuqing, an instructor from Changchun University, is also being force-fed.

4. [Pengzhou, Sichuan Province] Mengyang Town Government Illegally Persecutes Senior Practitioners

The Mengyang Town government has illegally detained more than 10 practitioners since last November. The practitioners were taken to the courtyard of a town government building and then tortured brutally. They beat the practitioners, hung them up in the air and tortured them, tied them up, threw them on the ground and stomped on them. After the torture, the persecutors detained the practitioners inside "cells" built by the town government until their family members bailed them out.

Most of the practitioners detained were over 50 years old. There was even a baby under 2 years old included among them. The family of a female practitioner in Yuanshi Village is quite wealthy, and the persecutors demanded that her family immediately pay them 10,000 Yuan. [Chinese currency. The average monthly salary of an urban worker in China is about 500 Yuan, but only 200 Yuan for a rural worker.] Since the money was not delivered quickly enough for them, the persecutors ordered the security heads of over 20 villages in the town to torture the practitioner. With a baton in each person's hand, 20 people tortured the old practitioner until she was on the verge of death. Her family members delivered the money and took the practitioner home in critical condition.

During the harvest season, the town government detained a practitioner couple, and their crops were left in the field unharvested. Trying hard to gain the release of their friends, the village party committee treated the officials of the town government to an expensive dinner. The officials agreed to release the two practitioners after the dinner, but they did not keep their promise.

Five practitioners were considered "key people" by the persecutors of Mengyang Town. They built a special cell for the 5 practitioners. The cell is like a sealed iron bucket located right next to a restroom. There is no ventilation in the cell, and no sunlight gets in. The electric lights are on all the time, and the people inside the cell do not even know whether it is day or night. The practitioners are allowed two meals a day and to wash themselves once a week. Other than the once-a-week wash, the 5 practitioners are forced to stay in the cell all the time. There is a small bucket in the cell to hold feces and urine. The feces and urine often overflow to the floor with maggots crawling in the waste.

We urgently call for help from kind-hearted people to stop the atrocities and save the kind and innocent practitioners.

5. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Police Guard Liu Wei Ferociously Tortures Dafa Practitioners

Liu Wei is a male police guard around 40 years old. Liu is the former chief of Wanli Town Police Station in the developing area of Dalian City. Because he worked so hard to persecute Falun Gong, his superiors gave him an award. Later on, Liu became a division head by bribing a director of the city police department . Since his promotion, Liu is persecuting Dafa practitioners more wildly. He is vicious and inhuman toward the abducted practitioners. In 1999, a female practitioner went to Beijing to appeal and was subsequently arrested and escorted back. Liu used two electric batons to torture the female practitioner on her buttocks. He also forced the practitioner to sit in an "electric chair" and shocked her for over 30 minutes. Later on, Liu used an instrument of torture where the practitioner's 10 fingers were clamped and shocked with electricity at the same time. He did not stop shocking her until she lost consciousness from the extreme pain.

In May 2001, Liu Wei and some other police guards arrested a male practitioner. Liu forced the practitioner to sit in an "electric chair" and shocked him for over 30 minutes, including on his testicles. When the practitioner fainted, the persecutors poured cold water on him to wake him up, and then they beat him again. The practitioner's skull was fractured in many places, and his shirt was ripped to pieces.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Police Persecute the Good and Ignore The Wrongdoers

The police in the developing area of Dalian City ignore the criminals and put a lot of manpower and resources into hunting down Falun Gong practitioners. They hired 500 "security staff" (mostly thugs from the street) to patrol the streets looking for practitioners. Currently, the degree of public security in the developing area is terrible. On so-called "sensitive dates," all the police guards are on the streets trying to arrest Dafa practitioners.

7. [Hainan Province] Practitioner Liao Liming Illegally Sentenced to 5 Years in Jail

For browsing Dafa websites in the Internet, practitioner Liao Liming was turned in to the police by a member of the public deceived by the propaganda against Falun Gong. In early 2002, Liao was illegally sentenced to 5 years in jail. Currently, Liao Liming is detained in Luoniushan Prison in Hainan Province. Liao is a former employee of the Bank of China in Hainan Province. After July 20, 1999, Liao's superior asked him to choose between his job and Falun Gong. Liao chose to practice Falun Gong, so his work unit fired him.

8. [Beijing] Practitioners Li Bin and Yu Kai Abducted by the Police

Li Bin is a former employee of a Beijing TV station. After July 20, 1999, he left his job to become a taxi driver. As a taxi driver, he was able to clarify the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution to people while working. Around 6 weeks ago, after he bought a CD burner, the police abducted him. At the same time, the truth-clarifying material site he worked at was destroyed. Other practitioners at the material site were also arrested, and all the equipment and vehicles were confiscated. It is believed that one week after his arrest, Li Bin still refused to cooperate with the evil, and he did not say a word to the persecutors.

After practicing Falun Gong, Yu Kai recovered from the scoliosis he used to suffer from. The police deceived Yu's father to turn him in. The persecutors then arrested Yu and destroyed the material site he helped out at. Yu was sentenced to 3 years in a forced labor camp.

Li Wei is a reporter for Dalian Daily News. On May 21, 2002, Li published an article in his column that twisted the facts and slandered Falun Gong.
