San Francisco Press Conference: China, Stop Exporting Your Brutal Persecution Overseas (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) At 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2002, more than 40 Falun Gong practitioners from the San Francisco Bay Area held a press conference in front of the Chinese Consulate to condemn the Jiang regime for exporting their policy of persecution overseas and to show support for City Councilman Mr. Chris Daly's testimony in Congress.

On Tuesday morning, in his testimony Mr. Daly exposed the Jiang regime's persecution against Falun Gong outside of China, interfering with routine operations of the American government, and stirring up hatred among US citizens. Mr. Daly said in his testimony that soon after he took the post, he received letters from constituents in his district and Falun Gong practitioners describing the Chinese Consulate's intimidation. Mr. Daly put forward a resolution on this issue in October 2001. The resolution was not passed after the Consulate General of Chinese Consulate in San Francisco wrote to the city council.

Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Xuerong said, "I am grateful that Mr. Daly testified in Congress. More and more western government officials understand that Falun Gong practitioners are peaceful and follow the principle of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.' More and more western government officials know that the Jiang regime tramples on basic human rights. They uphold justice under pressure and safeguard basic human rights. They are remarkable."

Falun Gong practitioner Pan Jun said that he and other four practitioners were attacked by a large group of thugs when practicing the exercises in a park in Chinatown. He was beaten to ground, and had his eyeglasses broken and clothes torn.

Zhang Xuerong said the actions such as beating and intimidating practitioners, damaging practitioners' cars, hacking into websites, depriving the practitioners of the right to visit their home country through passport cancellation, and the Chinese Consulate's interference with the daily operations of US government offices -- all of them perpetrated by the Jiang regime - were forms of persecution carried out against Falun Gong in the United States and violate basic human rights in western countries.
