Hong Kong Falun Dafa Practitioners Peacefully Appeal at Charter Gardens, Requesting the Release of Three Practitioners Illegally Detained by Chinese Police (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) At 2:00 p.m. on June 12, 2002, Hong Kong Falun Dafa practitioners held a three-hour activity at Charter Gardens. They sent forth righteous thoughts and delivered petitions. The purpose of the petition is to rescue two Hong Kong practitioners Cheung Yu-chong and Suen, (whose family doesn't want his full name to be disclosed) who were detained in May by Chinese police and have not yet been released, and another Hong Kong practitioner Chu O-ming who was arrested in 2000.

The other purpose of the petition is to appeal to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to respect the basic human rights of Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners and treat them fairly. The practitioners hoped that the Hong Kong government would not to stand together with the Jiang's regime and become an accomplice to suppress Falun Gong. The practitioners also pointed out that the Hong Kong government and its people would gain support from other countries around the world that value human rights for upholding justice and safeguarding the human rights.

During the appeal, more than 100 practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts at each half-hour. A practitioner and Cheung Miao-qing, sister of Cheung Yu-chong, each read a petition letter to Donald Tsang, Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong. Around 3:30 p.m., more than ten practitioners and Cheung Yu-chong's sister walked to the government office to deliver the petitions. They held a banner reading, "Rescue Three Hong Kong practitioners, Treat Falun Gong Justly and Fairly," and a poster board with photos of Chu O-ming and Cheung Yu-chong.

Four Swiss practitioners were also in the group. Last March, when they were holding a hunger strike to peacefully appeal in front of Beijing's Liaison Office, they were forcibly pulled away by the police and unreasonably charged with obstructing a public area. On June 17, they will be in court with twelve other Hong Kong practitioners who supported them that day.
