The Physical Abuse I Suffered at the Xiujing Town Police Station in Jingxing County, Hebei Province

On December 31, 2000, around 9:30 p.m. police officers Ma Wenhui, Liang Sanbao, and a driver from the Xiujing Town Police Station in Jingxing County came to my home and took me to the police station without showing me any valid identification, without due process, and without a legal warrant. They disregarded the strong protests from my husband and from me, and demanded that I write a "letter of guarantee" that I would not practice Falun Gong again. Since I did not cooperate with them, Dou Yongsheng, the political instructor, directed the police to beat me with their batons, until I was black and blue all over my buttocks and my legs. I nearly fainted, and I was sweating, even though the weather was quite cold. The Chief of the police station, Tian Yongfeng, witnessed everything. For many days afterwards, I could barely walk, and it was difficult for me to sit down or to sleep.

That night, my husband, a non-practitioner, went to the police station twice to look for me. He asked them what was really going on, and what law I had broken. They blocked him outside the police station both times. As a result, my husband suffered serious emotional trauma. He started shutting the door and bolting it well before 7 p.m. every day out of fear that the police would come again. Every time he saw a policeman or heard police sirens on the street, he had flashbacks of that horrible night.

On the afternoon of May 8, 2001, the Assistant Chief of the Xiujing Police Station, Wang Jihong, and 4 to 5 other agents broke into my home again to search it. I formally pointed out to them that what they were doing was illegal. Then, Wang Jihong pulled out a blank form and said, "OK, then I will fill this out for you." They took away my tape recorder, worth 500 yuan, some flyers (picked up by my family members on the street), and a Dafa book. They demanded to know where I got the book and started viciously interrogating me. Wang Jihong repeatedly slapped my face. My mouth started bleeding, my face swelled up, and my eyes filled with blood. They even found a big wooden stick to beat me with. They handcuffed me to a tree and continued beating me. They made me "ride the airplane" [a torture technique in which the victim must bend over and hold his arms high in the air without moving for long periods] under Director Liu Yongbin's instigation. They continued this torture for more than 10 days. Toward the end, the Vice Chief of the County Public Security Bureau, Li Zhongyong (in charge of persecuting Falun Gong), together with Wang Xichang, and Jia Huimin (Director and Vice Director of the Political Security Section respectively) interrogated me themselves. I told them nothing. Because they did not get what they wanted from me, on June 1, 2001, they sent me to a quasi-military training base in Jingxing County to be brainwashed. On the same day, around 30 practitioners arrived at this base for brainwashing.

In order to force us to give up our beliefs, thugs started another round of torture. They beat us for long periods of time, waking us up at 5 a.m. for running and military training. The rest of the time, until 11 p.m., they made us just sit on the ground. We often sat for more than 10 hours. Due to the long hours of sitting, many people's buttocks were full of blisters and shed layers of skin. No one was spared. They even tortured senior citizens and the disabled. One time, Liu Pingjun (Assistant Director of the Security Section of the Public Security Bureau) slapped a 65 year old grandmother, Li Guiqing, across her face just because she was eating too slowly. Another time, because she refused to sign a document full of slander and lies, she was punished by being made to stand still for a long period of time, until she fainted, and suffered from incontinence of feces and urine. Another time, when Lu Zhiqiang from the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] forced us to watch a slanderous propaganda video, he beat disabled practitioner Gao Baoyuan and other practitioners severely with his own walking cane. (Gao was unable to bend his body above his calves. He used to walk with the aid of two crutches; after practicing Falun Gong, he could walk using only a single crutch or even no crutch.) From October 8 to November 8, the villainous agents separated us and allowed us to only nap on a table from 4 a. m, to 6 a.m., accompanied by threats and physical abuse. After mid-November, they made us stay up all night without any sleep. In order to protest this endless persecution, on Chinese Lunar New Year's Day (February 12, 2002) Xu Genchun and Ren Yanzhen started a hunger strike. After half a month, the "610 Office" was afraid they would die, and decided to release them temporarily on bail, sponsored by three levels of local government. It was said that they would be sent back again after they recovered. On the evening of March 24, 2002, I escaped the brainwashing center and am currently homeless, moving from place to place to avoid further persecution.

I sincerely hope from the bottom of my heart that people will learn more of the truth about Falun Gong and see through the fabrications and lies of Jiang's group of political scoundrels. People who learn the truth will have a wonderful future.
