The Xindian Labor Camp is the only one reaching the so-called Bureau "civilization" Standard in Shanxi Province. The management portrays itself as, "civilizing, educating, moving, saving" the inmates and "persuading with rationality," but many policemen there violate the law while supposedly enforcing the law. They make harsh threats, and use clubs and electric batons to beat and shock the detainees. They use brainwashing methods along with coercion and rewards, physical punishments, torture, sleep deprivation, forced labor, etc. Their cruel and debased methods are shocking.

Since July 20th, 1999, nearly 200 Falun Dafa practitioners have been illegally detained there. In May 2001, all male Falun Dafa practitioners that were illegally held in Shanxi Province were transferred to the Xindian Labor Camp. They organized many selected teams and the director personally organized brainwashing classes to "transform" practitioners through use of torture. They used prisoners who are drug addicts to monitor Dafa disciples. They would not allow Dafa disciples to talk to each other or walk freely. They forced Dafa practitioners to watch government propaganda programs on TV slandering Dafa.

In June 2001, team leader Gong Junsheng from the brainwashing class and two other policemen harshly beat Falun Gong practitioner Guo Jianjun. They punched and kicked him to the floor and then kicked his head and chest hard. When Guo could not bear any more, he hit his head on the floor and passed out. Those inhuman police not only continued the torture, but also shocked his head and neck with electric batons until he regained consciousness. Then, they handcuffed him. The police also directed prisoners in the labor camp to beat Guo Jianjun with sticks. The prisoners were afraid they would be exposed so they stuffed a towel into Guo's mouth and violently beat him. While beating him, they asked, "Aren't you going to write a "Guarantee Letter?" [a letter promising to denounce and not to practice Falun Gong]. We won't beat you anymore if you write one." Guo's beating resulted in bruises and lacerations over his entire body. Scars cover his face. His eyes are purplish and he coughs blood. He could not take any food for over a month. Every day he tried very hard to swallow the steamed bread given at meals. In order to cover their crime, the police confined him to a room. He needs other prisoners to help bring his meals and water.

Team leader Gong Junsheng directed prisoners to torture Dafa disciples. Practitioner Wang Tielong was tortured 6-7 days continuously without sleep. He was brutally beaten without any clothes on. He fell onto the floor of the lavatory when he was beaten and the prisoners poured cold water onto him. Other practitioners, such as Yang Bin, Chen Hailong, and Cao Runquan were all beaten. Police also used the strategy of exhausting the practitioner through sleep deprivation and harassing and "talking" with practitioners non-stop around the clock. After the head count was taken in the evening, the other prisoners were permitted to sleep but Falun Gong practitioners had to "talk" with one of the team leaders throughout the night. The team leaders rotate while Falun Gong practitioners are kept awake all night. They have to join regular activities during the day and continue to "talk" in the night. Their purpose was to not allow Falun Gong practitioners to sleep until they broke down and wrote the "Guarantee Letter." No.1 team leader Ma forced the steadfast Falun Dafa practitioners to perform heavy labor for lengthy periods. If someone was slightly slower or could not finish his task, he would be badly beaten on the spot. The team leader used the bottom of his shoe to hit the practitioners' heads or beat them with a stick. He called practitioners at midnight to "talk" or forced them to recite the camp rules. He tried to force them to write the "Guarantee Letters" by depriving them of sleep. The police tried to force Dafa practitioners to give up their belief using all these methods of torture.

"Good is rewarded with good, evil is met with karmic retribution." This is a principle that is eternal in the universe. We are warning those police in Xindian Labor Camp to stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.
