My Understanding of the Importance of Studying the Fa

(Clearwisdom.net) After studying Teacher's lecture "Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Boston," I have some further understandings as to the importance of studying the Fa and would like to share them with my fellow practitioners.

The purpose of Fa-rectification Dafa disciples' Fa-study and cultivation is not for individual Consummation. It is the Main Consciousnesses of Dafa disciples that is controlling our human bodies, helping the sentient beings in our own cosmic systems assimilate to the Fa through our own bodies. When the Main Consciousness of a Dafa disciple reads the books and studies the Fa with a clear and calm mind, it is to help the sentient beings associated with us assimilate to the Fa. If Dafa disciples slack off in their efforts in Fa-study, it will not only directly influence the sentient beings' obtaining the Fa, but some very bad states in our minds and behaviors will also manifest in this surface dimension. This is in part the result of Dafa disciples' own notions and karma, and it is also due to the factors resulting from the sentient beings deviating from the Fa.

We all have had the kind of experience in our cultivation wherein some very bad states and attachments are reflected in our minds, for which human means can only play some function but seem to be incapable of fundamentally resolving. When we can truly study the Fa with a clear and calm mind, we find that before we know it, the problems have been solved. Our minds become peaceful, and our attachments are also eliminated. At this moment, it is probably the result of the sentient beings that caused us to have a bad state of mind assimilating to the Fa. The factors involved in cultivation are complicated. This is only an understanding from one aspect. During our cultivation, we don't need to distinguish whether it is due to our own reasons or to that of the sentient beings. They are all a part of us, and in cultivation we all have to look inwards.

So looking at it from this perspective, when Dafa disciples study the Fa, it is actually the opportunity for the sentient beings, who have great hopes and expectations for us, to assimilate to the Fa. When we get attached to something, have a bad state of mind, or when we quarrel over Dafa work, most of these are probably the result of the factors of the sentient beings deviating from the Fa. This is actually reminding us that we have not studied the Fa enough. If we do not rectify this in time, these lives and our surface minds will interfere with each other, and will probably make our cultivation difficult. The evil would also make use of this loophole.

When Dafa disciples meet with conflicts and problems, if we can look inside in time and study the Fa with a clear and calm mind, it will not only help us to do much better in assisting Teacher to save sentient beings, but will also help the sentient beings to be rectified in time and be saved. Otherwise, they will be eliminated in the Fa-rectification process because we had not studied the Fa well and had not cultivated well enough. So it is very important to pay attention to Fa-study from the depths of our hearts.
