Exposing Lies of China's Propaganda Machine With My Experiences at the Wanjia Labor Camp
By a Practitioner in China
May 25, 2002 (Clearwisdom.net) Jiang's regime has relied on slander and sham accusations in its
persecution of Falun Gong to deceive the public. An account of my personal experiences follows. I was illegally detained in the Wanjia Labor Camp when the so-called "Tiananmen Square
Self-Immolation" farce occurred around the Chinese New Year, 2001. One day a dozen or so Dafa
practitioners under solitary confinement were summoned to watch some videos. In addition to a video
about the immolations, we were shown footage of a conference condemning the incident held by the
Provincial government, as well as a video of some reporters' visit to the labor camp to interview
"Falun Gong practitioners" about the self-immolation incident. Any true Dafa practitioner could instantly tell that the immolation incident was a fabrication
since there is no such connotation within Dafa. Self-immolation is contrary to the teachings of Dafa.
Those people invited to the conference to condemn Falun Gong were obviously following orders from
the higher government officials. During the program entitled, "Reporters Come to the Wanjia Labor Camp to Visit Falun Gong
Practitioners," around twenty so-called Falun Gong practitioners appeared on the screen. I
immediately felt the power of the media's deception, under the control of Jiang's regime. No one in
the outside world knew that there were more than 400 resolute Dafa practitioners being detained in
Wanjia. The reporters interviewed none of us. Those who appeared on the screen were ones who had
been "transformed and converted," having given up Dafa under the intense persecution and
brainwashing. They were no longer Dafa practitioners. The three who spoke could not represent the
hundreds of Dafa practitioners being jailed there. All of the Dafa practitioners who were under detention had our right to speak stripped away from
us. We were forbidden to reveal the truth while in the detention center. The deputies would tape our
mouths if we spoke. This was considered a "light punishment." Still, as Master said,
"Coercion cannot change people's hearts." Deception, slander and lies can never last long!
