(Clearwisdom.net) In June, 2002, the Governor of the State of Iowa, Mr. Thomas Vilsack, proclaimed the week of June 23 to June 29, 2002 as Falun Dafa Week to honor Falun Dafa. On June 22, practitioners from Iowa and nearby areas got together in front of the State Government Office building in Des Moines, Iowa's capital, to hold celebrations and demonstrate Falun Gong exercises. A practitioner also performed a violin solo of the beautiful music piece, "Pudu."

At the same time, the "Journey of Falun Dafa" photo exhibition opened in the State Government Office building, to be held for one week. The most important newspaper in Iowa, the Des Moines Register, sent reporters to interview practitioners and covered the story. Another local newspaper, the Ames Tribune, also reported about "Falun Dafa Week" and the corresponding activities.
