1. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Jinzhou City Police Department Receive Secret Order: You Can Shoot to Kill People Who Distribute Falun Gong Truth-Clarifying Materials at Night

In Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, the city government, police department, and "610" office are planning to escalate their persecution of Falun Gong. According to reliable sources, the city police department and the police stations received a secret order from their superiors around June 27: monitor, follow, or arrest every Falun Gong practitioner. You can shoot to kill anyone you find distributing truth-clarifying materials at night.

2. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Hit Practitioner With a Brick

Mr. Dong is a driver for Sanjiang Food Cooperative in Jiamusi City. Because he practices Falun Gong, some police came to our office to arrest him. In front of everyone, officer Zhang Zhiguo slapped Dong in the face five times and cursed him a lot. Dong was then detained in Nanwei Police Station, where he firmly refused to give up his cultivation. Guard Li Fugui hit him on his head with a brick, causing him to pass out and bleed from the wound. Li also kicked Dong on his chest with all his strength. At a hospital, Mr. Dong required 5 stitches to close the gash on his head. When the doctors asked how Dong had been injured, the police lied and said that Dong injured himself. Later on, they drove Dong back to the police station and locked him in an iron chair. Li Fugui said, "Why don't we use a rope and strangle him to death?" He used smoke from a burning cigarette to choke him, and then held his nose so he could not breath for 3 minutes. The police did not stop torturing Dong until 9 PM, when they sent him to the detention center.

3. [Beijing] Exposing the Persecution in the "Law Studying Center"

The "Law Studying Center" is located in Tiangongyuan, Daxing County. Most of the staff members are former guards from Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp and Tiantanghe Forced Labor Camp. The male armed police are from a team of the Beijing Armed Police, which is the only armed police team that Jiang has visited in person. The armed police team has been arresting Dafa practitioners on Tiananmen Square. The female armed police in the center are from places like the No. 2 Institute of Armed Police.

The staff and police guards here receive 1000 Yuan [Chinese dollar. The average monthly salary of an urban worker in China is about 500 Yuan, but only 200 Yuan for a rural worker.] for each practitioner they force to give up his/her belief. Driven by the desire for money, they treat practitioners inhumanly by beating and cursing them at will. The practitioners detained at this center are monitored 24 hours a day by video cameras.

4. [Dehui City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Delay the Rescue of a Girl, then Frame Falun Gong after Her Death

About 8 AM on May 19, 2002, Dafa practitioners successfully released two balloons on Mingzhu Square that had huge truth-clarifying banners attached to them.

Some plainclothes police quickly surrounded the square. Around 9 AM, a high school student tried to commit suicide by taking poison. The student was a girl named Sun Yiming from the No. 1 High School of Dehui City. After breaking up with her boyfriend, Sun committed suicide on the square. Before the poison took her life, the plainclothes police officers stopped her and asked her many questions. By the time they confirmed her identity, it was too late to save her. The girl died in a hospital.

It is obvious that being delayed by the police prevented the girl's rescue, yet they made up the following to frame Falun Gong: "The girl was a Falun Gong practitioner, and she wanted to go to heaven with the balloons."

5. [Kaifeng City, Henan Province] Professor Zhang Tortured in a Mental Hospital

Professor Zhang is a Dafa practitioner in Kaifeng City. On May 25, 2002, the police arrested the professor and took him to a brainwashing class in Pingan Hostel. Yet with all the torturing methods, they could not change Zhang's firm belief in Teacher and Dafa. Around June 4, they sent the practitioner to Kaifeng City Mental Hospital to torture him. Currently, Zhang's body is edematous, and he is in critical condition.

6. [Jixian County, Heilongjiang Province] Taiping Town Police Station Uses Violence on Young Students

Chief Jia Xuesen led some guards from Taiping Town Police Station to nearby villages, where they took pictures of Dafa practitioners, preparing for further persecution. None of the practitioners cooperated, and they could not arrest anyone. The persecutors then went to the local school and arrested 3 teenage students who practice Falun Gong (15, 14, and 11 years-old). Four guards held a 14-year-old girl and slapped her face several times. Jia Xuesen beat and kicked the 11-year-old student. Finally, the perpetrators tried to force the students to sign their names denouncing Falun Gong. However, all three students firmly refused.

7. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Zhang Xiuyu is in Critical Condition

Zhang Xiuyu is a female practitioner in her 40s, who worked as a teacher at the Experimental Middle School of Liaohe Oil Field. In January 2002, her school dismissed her because she refused to attend a brainwashing class. Later on, Zhang clarified the truth inside the school, and some officials reported her to the police. About 7 PM on June 4, 2002, two plainclothes police officers arrested her on the street.

Zhang Xiuyu is currently detained in Liaohe Oil Field Detention Center. She has been on a hunger strike since she was arrested, refusing to even drink water. During her hunger strike, she was taken to the emergency room of the No. 1 People's Hospital of Panjin City. The doctors there diagnosed her with advanced kidney failure; yet the police refused to release her or let the doctors treat her.

8. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Three Practitioners Illegally Sent to a Forced Labor Camp

In late May 2002, the police arrested 3 female practitioners in Mangshan District, Zhengzhou City while they were making truth-clarifying materials. The 3 practitioners are Shi Xinzhi, Li Guixiang, and Zhang Guixiang. The practitioners refused to cooperate with the evil and went on a hunger strike to protest their arrest. The persecutors have sent them to the No. 1 Female Forced Labor Camp of Henan City, for a period of one year.

9. [Huachuan County, Heilongjiang Province] Villagers Comment: The Reporters Will Make up Anything for Money

Zhang Yu and his wife are in their 60s. They are residents of Changsheng Village, Simajia Town. They had been practicing Falun Gong for over 2 years when the persecution started on July 20, 1999. Scared, they stopped their practice. One day, a reporter came to the village. Teamed up with the party secretary, the reporter asked the old couple's daughter-in-law to lie about them, saying that they ignored their field work after they practiced Falun Gong. The reporter video-taped the couple's home environment and left. The villagers all said, "Things have changed these days, the reporter will make up anything for their bonuses."

10. [Huachuan County, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Illegally Sentenced to Forced Labor Camps

Zhang Hong is a female practitioner who lives in Jiefang Village, Hengtoushan Town. In 2001, some persecutors tricked her into a brainwashing class. Because Zhang firmly cultivates Dafa and refused to give up her belief, the persecutors illegally sentenced her to 2 years in a forced labor camp. The practitioner is currently detained in Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp.

Zhang Xianlu and his daughter Zhang Guiping live in Hengde Village, Hengtoushan Town. In April 2002, the local police arrested them from their home. Because they refused to give up their belief, Zhang Xianlu was sentenced to 2 years in a forced labor camp, and Zhang Guiping was sentenced to 3 years in a forced labor camp.

Tang Xueyong is a practitioner who lives in Taimin Village, Taiping Town. For clarifying the truth about Falun Gong, Tang was illegally sentenced to 3 years in a forced labor camp. His wife was forced to become homeless and destitute to avoid persecution. Their 3 children were left at home with no one to take care of them.

Ma Qingquan is a practitioner who lives in Taimin Village, Taiping Town. The local police station arrested Ma in April 2002. The practitioner is currently detained in Jixian County Detention Center.

12. [Huachuan County, Heilongjiang Province] False News About Practitioners in Jiefang Village, Hengtoushan Town

In Jiefang Village, Hengtoushan Town, a couple practices Falun Gong. Through cultivation, the wife, Gao Qinghua, completely recovered from her diseases, and the husband, Liu Ziping's, serious nearsightedness disappeared. Seeing the miraculous changes in the couple, many villagers started to practice too.

After July 20, 1999, the couple went to Beijing to appeal. The police arrested them, and sentenced Gao Qinghua to 1 year in a forced labor camp. During her detention, Gao wrote a pledge (not to practice Falun Gong) against her will. In the spring of 2001, some reporters from the Jiamusi City TV Station came to the village to interview the couple. The county "610" office, township government officials, and the local police station tried to force the couple to cooperate with them in making a false TV program. Scared, the couple cooperated with the wicked people under coercion. It was in spring, and the couple has not yet planted any vegetables. Yet the reporters photographed the vegetable field of some other farmers and lied that after the couple gave up practicing Falun Gong, they planted vegetables and became rich. They also lied that the couple have already sold some of their vegetables in 2001.

For clarifying the truth to people, Liu Ziping was sent to a forced labor camp for a 2-year term. Gao Qinghua and her daughter are forced to become homeless and destitute to avoid persecution.

13. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] The Jinzhou Railroad Police Sub-department Arrests Practitioners and Puts Them into Brainwashing Classes

On June 24, 2002, Jinzhou Railroad Police Sub-department tried to force some Dafa practitioners into a brainwashing class. To avoid the persecution, some practitioners were forced to leave their homes. It is believed that there are over 40 practitioners on the persecutors' list. On July 1, the police arrested 5 practitioners. Police guard Ding Tongliang from Zhengda Police Station and the director of Zhengda street community office arrested practitioner Miao Jianguo at is work unit, and then sent him to a brainwashing class. Miao has been detained there ever since.

Note: The persecutors require each brainwashing session to have at least 10 practitioners. This time, the brainwashing class did not even start, because most of the practitioners escaped or firmly refused to cooperate.

At 9 AM on May 26, 2002, Zhou Gaosheng went to visit his wife Zou Caiyun at Qidong County Detention Center (Zou is illegally detained for practicing Falun Gong). Zhou took out 200 Yuan and handed the money to his wife. His wife Zou did not take the money and wanted him to take it home. However, when Zhou was walking out of the detention center, the guard stopped him, twisted his arms, and grabbed the money from his pocket.

15. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] The No.1 Division of Changchun City Police Department Brutally Tortures Practitioner Jiang Lide

Jiang Lide is a practitioner in Dehui City, who disappeared for almost 3 months. We only recently learned of his whereabouts: Jiang was arrested on the afternoon of March 20, 2002, while he was making a phone call at a pay phone in Jiutai City. He was then sent to Jiutai City Police Department where the persecutors handcuffed his hands behind his back, poured cold water over his body, and put him in front of a strong fan (it was still very cold in northeast China in March). They did not stop torturing him until midnight. The police also tortured him by covering his head with a plastic bag and suffocating him until he was half-dead. The vicious torture lasted for over 10 hours. On the same night, Jiang broke free from his restraints and tried to escape by jumping off the building. As a result, he suffered from multiple fractures of his spine, thighs, calves, and his jaw. He was unconscious for days in a hospital. The police and the hospital tightly sealed any information about his whereabouts and condition. Jiang stayed in the hospital for over 2 months. On June 13, his family members learned about his situation and took him home to recover.

16. [Chongqing City, Sichuan Province] Maojiashan Female Forced Labor Camp Tortured Practitioner Wang Jiqin

Practitioner Wang Jiqin was detained in Maojiashan Female Forced Labor Camp, where she was ferociously tortured both mentally and physically for firmly holding onto her beliefs. On December 26, 2001, guard Yang Ming and two doctors ordered 8 inmates (drug addicts, including Zhou Shulan) to force feed Wang with some medicine. Wang fainted on the spot. Fearing that she may die in the labor camp, the guards sent Wang back home on January 18, 2002. As a result of the brutal torture, Wang Jiqin was extremely underweight. Her mother hardly recognized her. Wang told her mother, "Mom, they almost killed me."

17. [Chongqing City, Sichuan Province] Qijiang County Police Department Detains Practitioners for Prolonged Terms

Since November 2001, practitioners Liu Bijing (female), Yang Longmei (female), Zhao Jiafen (female), and Wang Zhonglin have been kept in Qijiang County Detention Center. In May 2002, the local police arrested Gong Biming and Cao (female) from their homes. The two practitioners have also been detained in Qijiang County Detention Center since they were arrested. In June 2002, two more practitioners, Tao Dengyou and Gu Xianglun (female), were illegally detained for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong.

Some practitioners in Songzao, Qijiang County were illegally detained by the local "610" office. The practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest their persecution.
