Swarms of Locusts Reach Beijing

According to a report in the Beijing Youth News, many locusts were seen in Haidian, Shijingshan, and Fengtai, suburban areas of Beijing. Furthermore, locust "scouts" have entered the city itself.

An entomologist from the China Agricultural University, a locust control specialist, commented that usually locusts live in mountains or on prairies. In over twenty years of living in Beijing, he has never seen locusts suddenly swarming into Beijing like this ever before.
