Taiwan's Vice President: "Falun Gong is Innocent! People Who Violate Human Rights are Guilty!" Mingxin
(Clearwisdom.net) On July 20, 2002, almost 2,000 Taiwan practitioners
held a candlelight vigil in Taipei. It was a gloomy day and drizzled from time
to time.
They gathered in the evening in front of the music stage at Ta-an Forest Park
in Taipei to express their appreciation with this candlelight vigil for the
continuous support from all areas, and to call for an end of the persecution of
Falun Gong practitioners by Jiang's regime.
Practitioners silently sat with their legs crossed, forming a sublime scene
filled with sanctity. It is because of this peaceful spirit that Falun Dafa has
moved governments and kindhearted people all over the world. "A righteous
cause enjoys abundant support."
Vice President Madame Lu Hsiu-lien (Annette Lu) and Premier of the Executive
Yuan, Yu Shyi-kun, showed their support via a videotape and a letter. Both of
these individuals firmly oppose Jiang's illegal actions of violating human
rights and persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. The vice president said
solemnly, "Falun Gong is innocent! People who violate human rights are
guilty!" She also sent her best wishes to practitioners.
Among the speakers at the vigil were Chen Shih-meng, Secretary-General of
presidential office, Lin Feng-jeng, the president of the Taiwan Association of
Human Rights and Lee Ying-yuan, a Taipei mayoral candidate. They expressed their
support for Falun Gong from the perspective of protecting freedom and human
rights and all agreed that such a brutal persecution has harmed human rights and
freedom of belief, which are the values that can help maintain a morally sound
society. Every well-meaning person should conscientiously stand up to oppose
such persecution.
