Hong Kong Falun Dafa Practitioners Peacefully Appeal on July 20th to Call for an End to Persecution (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) July 20th marks the third year of Jiang's suppression of Falun Gong in China. Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners peacefully appealed in front of the Chinese Liaison Office and at the Chater Gardens to call for all people with a sense of justice to together end the Jiang's brutal persecution of Falun Gong.

On July 19, 2002, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., several dozen practitioners gathered in the designated area opposite the Chinese Liaison Office, read out loud an open letter, practiced the Falun Gong exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts. Among practitioners who participated in the peaceful appeal were four Swiss practitioners who are being wrongfully charged for their peaceful appeal in front of the liaison office this March 14.

Practitioners pointed out in the letter that Jiang's persecution of Falun Gong is not only rampant in mainland China, but also extends to Hong Kong, Macao and other countries overseas. It has violated the human rights and freedom of people in these countries. In recent years, the Hong Kong government has also intensified its repression of Falun Gong, for instance, rejecting practitioners' application for a rented place to hold activities, barring Falun Gong practitioners from other countries from entering the region to join peaceful appeal activities, and arresting and wrongfully charging Falun Gong practitioners who peacefully appealed in front of the Chinese Liaison Office. All these have seriously violated Hong Kong's rule of law and undermined the policy of "one country, two systems."

At 4:00 p.m., the practitioners gathered at the Chater Gardens to hold a peaceful appeal. They held banners reading: "Never in history has someone who persecuted those with upright beliefs ever succeeded" and "Together we will end the persecution." They lined up to practice the exercises and send forth righteous thoughts.

From 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the practitioners held a candlelight vigil. They used candles to form four English words, "Stop persecuting Falun Gong."

Swiss practitioner Simone Schlegel said that July 20th was a sad day, and she would try her best to stop this persecution.

The practitioners distributed to local residents recently printed Falun Gong truth-clarifying VCDs in Cantonese, in order to let the government and the people of Hong Kong learn the truth about Falun Gong and the evil nature of the persecution.
