This week, Beijing has experienced the highest temperature for this time of year in 50 years. The weather forecasters have measured the highest temperature as being over 40^oC (~104 ^oF). It is the highest temperature for mid-July in the history of Beijing, and the temperature is forecasted to continue to be very high.

Looking back in history, it is rare for Beijing to experience temperatures as high as 40+?C.

Beijing residents who are suffering from the heat probably remember what happened in July 1999. Extremely high temperature lasted for a few days before and after July 20, 1999. In fact, the temperature even got as high as 42.2^oC (~108 ^oF) on the 24^th and 25^th, marking the highest temperatures recorded in over 250 years!

As a matter of fact, over the past 4 years including 1999, a high temperature of over 40?C has hit Beijing every year near July 20 without exception. This year was no exception.

July 20, 1999 is a day so dark in infamy that all kind-hearted people will never forget. It was on this day that the evil forces that control the Chinese government disregarded the hearts of the people and started to persecute millions of Falun Dafa practitioners and began to arrest them in large numbers. Especially this year, almost every day practitioners are tortured to death. Among these was a little baby who just had her first birthday. An elderly person over 70 years of age also was killed. Hundreds of thousands of Falun Dafa practitioners are still being tortured in jails today, and their lives are in great danger. The persecution of the Buddha Law and the killing of these kind people will definitely be punished by heaven. We hope that all kind-hearted people will notice and understand the signs from heaven that good will be rewarded and evil will be punished.
