A Non-Practitioner's Comments: It is not a Political Struggle, but a Problem of Basic Human Rights

(Clearwisdom.net)

Basic human rights grant every human being in the world equal political and civil liberties. No individual, or organization, should wield power to forcefully oppress others. Those who do not believe in Falun Gong have the right to express their opinion; at the same time, Falun Gong practitioners also have the right to refute accusations against them.

On this basis, if in China, Falun Gong had a newspaper to publish its own voice, then I might oppose Falun Gong practitioners?petitioning to those agencies that issued defaming articles.

If the Chinese federal government and various other levels of Chinese government respected their own laws, and justly and openly received the peaceful Falun Gong appeals, then I might oppose their protesting on Tiananmen Square.

If the China Central TV network allocated airtime in proportion to the taxes Falun Gong practitioners paid to the government, then I might oppose them broadcasting their own signals on national television and satellite TV.

If those government officials who brutally beat, slander, and torture Falun Gong practitioners were appropriately prosecuted and punished according to the law, then I might oppose Falun Gong lawsuits against Chinese officials overseas.

But until these fundamental human rights are rightfully granted to Falun Gong practitioners, I have no choice but to fully support their efforts in refuting the media which has criticized them, fully support their hard work to broadcast their own television programs, and completely approve of their worldwide lawsuits against those Chinese officials who conspire maliciously against them. The perpetrators must be brought to justice, even if they try to escape to the edges of the earth.

The Party denies others their constitutional guarantees, and uses terrorist and deceitful techniques to achieve absolute dictatorship. It suppresses all opposing voices and denies its citizen's human rights while refusing to be held responsible for any wrongdoing. Kindhearted and upright people, who are most deserving of their rights and freedoms, especially cannot tolerate these gross violations.

I am not a Falun Gong practitioner. My views are in support of basic human rights. I realize that if I keep silent when the rights of others are unjustly trampled upon, then others will not speak out on my behalf if I encounter the same injustice some day.
