Traditional Culture Honored, Chinese Descendants Show Their Pride (Photo)

(Clearwisdom.net) On Saturday, June 29, 2002, Falun Dafa Week in Hornsby, a town in suburban Sydney, Australia, was kicked off at the central open-air square inside the biggest shopping center in the area -- Hornsby Mall. From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. is the busiest time period in the mall. Falun Gong practitioners demonstrated the exercises and give performances that they designed. Some Western practitioners shared their cultivation experiences with mall patrons passing by. Many passersby stopped to watch. Accompanied by Chinese traditional music, the audience's laughter and praise could be heard from time to time. Some of them even followed the practitioners to do the movements. The happy crowd was immersed in the atmosphere of traditional Chinese culture.

Falun Gong practitioners carefully decorated the ground that they used as a stage with beautiful handmade yellow lotus flowers. Around the stage, practitioners displayed poster boards introducing Falun Dafa's wide spread around the world. They also set up an information desk and traditional calligraphy demonstration. Many practitioners handed out Dafa literature, introducing Falun Dafa and traditional Chinese culture to the audience. At the nearby library, the practitioners set up a free class. Quite often people came to learn the five sets of exercises.

Sydney Falun Gong practitioners carefully organized and prepared for the event. The programs were quite rich and diversified. Female practitioners performed in traditional Chinese costumes gracefully and beautifully. They also performed the lively and joyous Yangko [a traditional Chinese dance]. Young practitioners performed the carefree lotus dance. One practitioner of Japanese nationality played Dafa music Pu Du and Ji Shi on the violin, and the practitioners also demonstrated the gentle, peaceful Falun Gong exercises. Many Western practitioners shared their cultivation experiences with the audience. Those passing by could feel a pure field that was filled with peacefulness and tranquility. Many people came over to ask to learn the truth about Falun Gong after seeing the practitioners.

This Falun Dafa Week activity gained support from the local government and the mall management. Prior to the event, the officials and administrative personnel did thorough research on Falun Dafa and approved the arrangements for the entire week's activities. Their conclusion was that our activities were definitely befitting their new establishment.

After watching our performances, the manager of the mall warmly said that they would invite us again to participate in the multi-cultural activities they would sponsor, and would also introduce us to other similar malls in other areas to take part in their performances or other activities.

The Mayor of Hornsby Steven Pringle and MP Nan Horne especially sent messages of congratulations.

In recent Fa-promotion activities, Sydney practitioners have incorporated Dafa's broad and profound inner meaning in the unique traditional Chinese culture and adopted various ways that cater to people's interest to make it easier for the public to get in touch with, recognize and accept Dafa in their hearts.
