(Clearwisdom.net) Over 30 Chicago practitioners participated in the annual parade on Independence Day in Evanston, a small town close to Chicago with a long history. The famous Northwestern University is located in this town.

Before the parade, the practitioners prepared carefully. Practitioners from Northwestern University and Chicago made banners, models of lotuses, traditional Chinese dresses and other props.

The parade started at 2:00 p.m. The huge banners reading, "The world needs Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" on both sides of the float were especially eye-catching. On the float, three young practitioners sat on the lotus, while other practitioners demonstrated the exercises. The procession moved slowly under the Dafa music Pudu. The exercise demonstration was warmly received. Words of praise and encouragement came from the spectators time after time. Senator Richard J. Durbin walked along with the procession for a bit and shook hands with the practitioners.

Along the procession, the practitioners distributed truth-clarifying materials to the spectators. Many people extended their hands to request the literature. Some people said, "I know Falun Gong. Good luck." Some explained to those not knowing Falun Gong, "Falun Gong is the group being persecuted in China." One said, "I live near the Chinese Consulate. I see you appealing there every day. Good luck." About 20,000 people were present to enjoy the parade.
