On July 27th and 28th, English practitioners promoted Dafa during the United Kingdom Sports Meet. The parade team of Falun Gong brought an oriental festival atmosphere to Manchester. Tens of thousands of Dafa flyers in Chinese and English were quickly distributed. The city government strongly supported and encouraged the Falun Gong parade and performance. Two local practitioners were also the performers in the opening as well as the closing ceremony of the game.
On July 27th, some Toronto practitioners in Canada wrote a letter to the consul general of the Chinese consulate, Sun Shuxian. The letter asked the Chinese consulate not to spread rumors among overseas Chinese. The letter says: "In China, many political movements in history incited people to go against each other within themselves, which have resulted in many tragic events. You may have experienced or heard about the resulting spiritual and ethical damage, and you should never forget about this lesson in history."
