The Persecution of My Older Sister
By a practitioner in China
(Clearwisdom.net) My older sister is a Falun Dafa practitioner. In November 1998, she
accidentally came across the book Zhuan Falun. After she had read it a
few times, she was deeply moved by the profound teachings of Mr. Li. Since then
she has been improving her moral quality [xinxing] and because of her kindness,
our whole family has become more harmonious and gets along with the neighbors
better too. But after July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime started the evil suppression
of Falun Gong and used all means to persecute Falun Gong practitioners, such as
beating, unlawfully detaining, confiscating personal property, fining, and
causing people to lose their jobs. These also disrupted our peaceful and
harmonious family life. In 1999, my sister appealed to every level of the local governments but
received no response, so she went to Beijing to appeal. The sign of the Appeal
Bureau had been removed, there was no place to appeal, and she had to go to
Tiananmen Square instead. There she shouted from her heart, "Falun Dafa is good,
Falun Dafa is righteous." For this she was illegally sentenced to two years in a
forced labor camp for "disturbing social order." In the forced labor camp, my sister did not give up her belief in "Truth,
Compassion, Forbearance", and for this she was moved to six forced labor camps,
where she witnessed the horrible persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the
guards there. My sister suffered a lot of brutal torment. She was forced to live
in a cell mixed together with males and females, her clothes were stripped off,
she was tortured badly, and they tried to force her to tell lies and give up her
belief. When she told the policemen that their actions were unlawful, that they
were breaking the law, they detained her for more than half a year after her
release date. In the Shenxin Forced Labor Camp, the vicious police officer Guo
Yong tortured Falun Gong practitioners brutally. My sister's lower back was
injured, and she could not manage to use the toilet by herself. Later, she was
sent to a supervised hospital in Liaoning Province and placed in a dark and damp
basement, where she underwent further torment. We were only allowed to see each
other three times during two and a half years. In April 2001, our father had a
car accident and while his life was in danger, the guards in the forced labor
camp used her request to see him as an opportunity to force my sister to give up
the practice. She refused their unreasonable request. When my sister was going to expose the truth of the persecution against Falun
Gong practitioners, a kind hearted police officer said to her: "I know you are
all good people, but no one dares to take your cases. Jiang secretly ordered
that the deaths of Falun Gong practitioners from torture would be counted as
suicides. At this moment China does not speak reasonably to Falun Gong, even the
courts and solicitors are told not to take any cases relevant to Falun Gong.
There is no written evidence of this kind of persecution, the orders are passed
down orally." My mother and I reported the true situation of my sister to the
relevant government department and still have not received any replies. My
sister used to weigh 75 kg (165 Ib), however, the torment she suffered left her
weighing less than 50 kg (110 Ib). She was released on bail for medical
treatment when her life was in danger. They took my sister home after 11 p.m. My
sister was very pale and had no strength, and her body bore marks from torture
all over. They sent her home at night, as they knew they were treating Falun
Gong practitioners unlawfully and they were scared to let our neighbors see her
condition. They cheated my mother out of 2000 Yuan RMB [approximately
4-months salary for an average urban worker] to pay for sister's medical
expenses. When my mother asked them, "What is wrong with my daughter?" Nobody
dared to say that my sister's poor health had been caused by torture. My mother
angrily said, "The propaganda on TV says that policemen meticulously take care
of Falun Gong practitioners, regard them as family members, and never swear or
beat them. The policemen are so nice that even good criminals are not willing to
go home. In fact you are half human half demon, you are too good at telling
lies..." My mother kept talking, and they quietly walked away. My sister was persecuted and harassed many times at home. Around 9 pm on July
19, 2002, Su, the political instructor of the local police office, and Zhang
Fucai, the security production brigade chief of the police station teamed up
with seven people and broke into my sister's home without any legal documents.
They beat my sister to the ground after she refused to allow them to confiscate
her personal property. They hit my mother's face and dislocated her jaw, injured
our relatives and also beat a few of our neighbors. When the neighbors demanded
of them, "Are you still called police? You are the real criminals." They didn't
dare to respond. They broke my sister's desk and took away a small TV, a VCD
player, a video camera, and other belongings. They even arrested one of our
relatives for no reason. His whereabouts are still not known. The next day, I went to the local police office and questioned their criminal
actions. They said they had to follow orders from the top. I phoned the security
production brigade chief, asked him to release my innocent relative, and
compensate us for the things they had confiscated. He said it was not his
matter, and that it was up to me to figure out where to appeal for justice. Out of concern for policemen who persecute Dafa practitioners, I want to warn
them that good will be rewarded and evil actions will meet karmic retribution.
Please consider your futures.
