Gong Zaiqiang, male, 37 years old, lived in Nanhua Village, Town of Xinhua, Hegang City. Beginning this past April, officers from the Xinhua Police Station often harassed him. Liu Zhixiang, the Commissioner of Law and Politics in Xinhua is the person in charge of persecuting Falun Gong in that town. The police instructed him to keep Zaiqiang and other practitioners under surveillance and to prevent them from leaving the village. In the middle of that month, Zaiqiang traveled to the Inner Mongolia Province to purchase sheep. Liu Zhixiang led police there to arrest Zaiqiang. On April 28, Xinhua police officers abducted Zaiqiang in the Town of Heli, located in Tangyuan County. He is now being detained at the Second Detention Center in Hegang City. We have heard that Falun Dafa practitioners are being tortured very severely in that detention center. The police lift and beat practitioners with iron batons, do not allow the practitioners to sleep or to do the exercises, and try to force them to renounce their beliefs.

The following practitioners were also residents of Nanhua Village and were illegally arrested by officers from the Xinhua Police Station and the Hegang Dongshan Police Branch:

Yu Shuxiang, male, 38 years old, was abducted from his home on May 13, 2002. He is now being detained at the Second Detention Center in Hegang City.

Wang Xiufang, female, 33 years old, was abducted from her home on April 22, 2002. The police found some Falun Gong DVDs in her house and illegally sentenced her to three years in a Forced Labor camp.

Tang Shuqin, female, 61, was taken her home on April 22 and was sent her back to the Jiamusi Forced-Labor Camp. (She had been persecuted there previously.) The Jiamusi Camp officials refused to accept her when they found out that she had congenital heart disease; they sent her to the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Forced-Labor Camp to be tortured. She was illegally sentenced to two years in that labor camp. The camp is located at 239 Xianfeng Road, Taiping Harbin District.

Wang Huirong, female, 33 years old, has been persecuted since at least 2001. She, her sister and her aunt went together to Hegang City to withdraw some money. Commissioner Liu Zhixiang found out and informed the police station. The police caught the three women halfway to the city and confiscated 1,000 Yuan from them. [Note: 1,000 Yuan is the equivalent of two month's salary for an average urban worker.]

On April 22 of this year, police officers from Xinhua Police Station and Hegang Dongshan Police Branch abducted Wang from her home and sent her to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp for two years. Her husband, Gong Zaili, was illegally sentenced to two years at the Jiamusi Forced-Labor Camp. They were forced to leave an elderly father and a 7-year-old child at home.

Two persecuted practitioners from other villages in Xinhua County:

Gong Guihua, female, 33 years old, from Junde Village, and her sister, Gong Guizhi, 40 years old, from Honqi village, along with their sister-in-law, left to go to the Hegang "610" Office to request her illegally confiscated bank deposit money. Liu Zhixiang reported her to the police. Members of the Xinhua Police Station caught the three of them when they were halfway to the office. [Note: The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute powers over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.]

The officers found glue on Guihua's clothes and suspected her of putting up Falun Dafa posters. They sent her to the Second Detention Center. She was detained there until June of 2002, before being sent to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. Jiamusi officials refused to accept her because she has congenital heart disease and sent her to the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labor Camp for three years.

They sent Guizhi to the Hegang Second Detention Center and released her only after her family paid 2,000 Yuan. On April 22, the police from the Hongqi Village Police Station and the Hegang Dongshan Police Branch abducted Guizhi from her home and sent her, her sister, and mother to the Hegang Second Detention Center, and then to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. Jiamusi officials refused to accept Guizhi when they discovered that she also has congenital heart disease and sentenced her to the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labor Camp for three years.
