Persecution of Dafa Practitioners in Beipiao City, Liaoning Province

1. Ms. Hu Guohong is a 35-year-old teacher working at the Beipiao Agriculture Technology Center in Liaoning Province.

On December 20, 1999, Hu Guohong traveled to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. Upon arrival she was kidnapped, forced home, and then detained for over a month in Beipiao City. She was extorted in exchange for her release. Later, her boss imposed unreasonable pressures at her workplace until she was forced to resign and set up a store to make a living. On May 26, 2001, she was kidnapped again. In August, Hu Guohong, along with practitioners Zhang Huaping and Yang Xinyu were given a show trial. The three practitioners conducted themselves righteously and spoke out with the power of truth, so the trial was unable to finish and hastily ended. The courthouse of Beipiao City secretly sentenced Hu Guohong, Zhang Huaping, and Yang Xinyu to four years each. At present, Hu is still jailed in the women's prison of Liaoning Province.

2. Mr. Wang Yanqing is 35 years old and holds a BS degree. He was employed as a teacher in the First High School of Beipiao City, Liaoning Province.

On December 4, 1999, the police detained him after he sent quilts to six Falun Dafa practitioners who were being illegally held by the authorities. Policemen ransacked his home and stole his computer. Then they searched his office and confiscated his Falun Dafa flyers, along with a letter that he was writing to clarify the truth about the persecution to others. The police detained him in the Chaoyang Re-education School of Liaoning Province. Later, he was sent to the Re-education School of Huludao and brutally tortured. In January 2001, he conducted a hunger strike to oppose the illegal detention. After 36 days, he was released. Over 30 needle-like marks were left on his face from the electric shock baton torture. After two weeks the "610 Office" of Beipiao City forcibly sent him back to the Re-education School of Huludao. In April 2002, he again conducted a hunger strike to protest the persecution until his body was on the verge of collapse, and he was sent home. The city "610 Office" then commanded the First High School of Beipiao to have eight students stay at his house 24 hours a day. They were afraid that Wang Yanqing would tell others about his persecution by the authorities. Before May 1, Wang was again kidnapped and sent to the Re-education School of Huludao. He has still not been released.

(The 610 Office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political or judicial systems.)
