The organizer of an exhibit of works by an artist with a Falun Gong background has lodged complaints over an alleged effort to ban the show's catalogue.

The Australian artist, Zhang Cuiying, was barred from Hong Kong but the exhibit was still held.

The organizer, the publication Epoch Times, said the artist - who was jailed for eight months on the mainland for Falun Gong involvement - was forced to return to Australia with half the works planned for the show.

The Leisure and Culture Services Department sought to stop distribution of the catalogue but the organizer did not comply.
