1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Changchun Police Department Detains Nearly One Thousand Falun Gong Practitioners

On July 25, 2002, Changchun Police Department detained nearly 1000 Falun Gong practitioners. In order to protest the persecution, currently more than 400 practitioners are on hunger strike and practicing the exercises. The police force-feed and brutally torture the practitioners every day. We call on the international community to pay attention to this matter.

2. [Masanjia, Liaoning Province] Masanjia Forced Labor Camp Persecutes Falun Dafa Practitioners

In May 2002, Masanjia petitioned to the province to extend the sentence of female practitioners Li Liming of Shenyang, Sun Jinjun of Anshan, Song Guixiang of Dandong, Huying of Tieling, among others. The request is still pending.

Female practitioners Li Ping of Dalian and Zhang Juxian of Dashiqiao have been on a hunger strike for three months at Masanjia and their lives are in danger.

3. [Qingdao, Shandong Province] Zhang Yuhe, Wife of Dafa Practitioner Zou Songtao Who Was Tortured To Death, Is Now Detained at the Dashan Female Detention Center in Qingdao

Qingtao Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Yuhe's husband Zou Songtao was tortured to death at the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. Zhang, who had been living on the streets to avoid the persecution, went home to visit her son Rongrong during the Spring Festival. Several practitioners went to visit her at her home. The police arrested her and have been holding her in Room 8 on the 2^nd floor of the Dashan Female Detention Center since February 2002. The police intend to illegally sentence her. She is likely to be sentenced secretly after more than half a year of detention and sent to the Jinan Female Prison.

Zhang's mother suffered from severe mental trauma because of Zou's death and Zhang's detention. She passed away in 2001.

4. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] The Police Escalate the Persecution Of Falun Dafa Practitioners

Currently, Dashan Detention Center in Qingdao City is secretly holding many practitioners from different areas of Qingdao. The police no longer send practitioners who are found distributing Dafa materials to labor camps. Now they are being immediately sentenced to prison. In the beginning of 2001, Qingdao practitioner Wang Minliang was found distributing Dafa materials by the national security bureau using a cellular phone locating technology. He was sentenced to five years in prison. Wang is still steadfast and persists in his cultivation. He is currently being illegally detained in Room C201 of the Dashan Detention Center.

Qingdao practitioner Jiang Tao (male) was arrested during the October national holiday in 2001 for distributing Falun Dafa materials. He was sentenced to four years in prison and is currently being illegally detained at Dashan.

5. [Qingdao, Shandong Province] A Partial List of Male Falun Gong Practitioners at Licun Forced Labor Camp

Wu Jiangguo of Jimo City, sentenced to three years for making Falun Dafa DVDs.

Zhou Xingyan, sentenced to three years for distributing Dafa materials.

Tian Yongjian of Qingdao City, sentenced to three years for making Falun Dafa material.

Jiang Fengyi of Laixi City, sentenced to two years for possessing Dafa material.

Yang Naijiang of Qingdao City, sentenced to two years for distributing Dafa materials.

Lu Renxin and Wang Deheng of Malianzhuang in Laixi City, each sentenced to two years for distributing Dafa material.

Fu Zhengqiang of Qingdao City, sentenced to two years for attending an experience-sharing conference.

Kuang Ronghao of Jiaozhou City, sentenced to two years for distributing Dafa materials.

Tian He of Qingdao City, sentenced to one and half years for attending a Dafa conference.

Wei Wei of Longkou City sentenced to one and half years for attending a Dafa conference.

Wang Chengpi of Laixi City, sentenced to one year for distributing Dafa materials.

Currently, all male practitioners illegally arrested in Qingdao area are sent to the Licun Forced Labor Camp. Approximately 300 practitioners are currently detained there. The police brainwash the practitioners using such violent means as denying sleep and giving them beatings.

Since the provincial female forced labor camp in Jinan City is very full, all incoming female practitioners from Qingdao area are sent to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo.

6. [Shantou City, Guangdong Province] Eight Dafa Practitioners Are Illegally Given Heavy Sentences

On the morning of July 26, 2002, Shantou Jinyuan District Court sentenced eight practitioners to three to ten years. These practitioners are:

Li Jiashan, male, sentenced to 10 years and three years of deprivation of political rights, Zhuang Zepeng, male, sentenced to 8 years, Lai Lifeng, female, Wu Yanpo, female, Wang Huipeng, female, Chen Shaoyun, female, Chen Yixia, female, and Chen Shuan, female.

7. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] News From Changchun

The Zhang Xiaodong couple of Shuangyang district betrayed Falun Dafa practitioners. Many practitioners were arrested because the couple identified them.

Recently, some people "practiced Falun Gong" in Changchun's parks. According to people inside the police department, the activity was used as bait to attract Falun Dafa practitioners and then arrest them.

Recently, Changchun established a regulation regarding house renting. It contains such illegal rules as, "Tenants must register at the police station." "Landlords should not rent to people who conduct Falun Gong activities."

Some Dafa material sites were raided in Jilin Province recently.

8. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] "610 Office" in Yuelu District Hold Slanderous Exhibition

Recently, the "610" Office [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches] in Yuelu District of Changsha City held an exhibition that slandered and attacked Dafa. It also held a "Knowledge Contest for Prizes" that attacked Dafa, and organized a show that slandered Dafa and poisoned the people of China.

9. [Qingdao and Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Zhou Zhaohua Is Illegally Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

The "610 Office" of Qingdao and Jiaozhou persecuted Zhou Zhaohua for distributing Dafa materials. He has been detained at Jiaozhou Detention Center since January 1, 2001 and was secretly sentenced to four years in prison recently. His fellow practitioner from the town of Yanghe was illegally sentenced to five years.

• Police illegally seized 800 Yuan from Wang Hui, female.
• Liang Yuying, female, 50, has been homeless in order to avoid persecution. In March 2002, she was detained for 36 days. The police confiscated 4000 Yuan from her family members.
• Liao Anan, female, was detained in March 2002. The police confiscated 6000 Yuan from her family members. Police officer Zhang Mingcai took 1000 Yuan for himself.
• Wang Jidu, male, has been detained twice. The section chief of the district police department took Wang's stamp collection, gold rings and a necklace, as well as 5000 Yuan when searching his house. His work unit stopped his pension for half a year.
• Tao Yuzhen, female, was detained once.
• Zhang Xiuying, female, was detained and sentenced to a labor camp in May 2001. The labor camp rejected her for medical reason and she is serving her sentence outside the labor camp.
• Wang Li, female, was detained once and had 2000 Yuan confiscated. She is now forced to perform heavy labor for extended hours at her work unit and has had her salary reduced.
• Wang Jun, female, is persecuted at her work unit. She is forced to perform the heaviest and dirtiest jobs without pay.
• Si Liping, female, was detained once and had 3000 Yuan confiscated. She is forced to perform heavy and dirty labor at her work unit and receives on a minimum salary.
• Guan Guoling, female, was detained once and had 3000 Yuan confiscated by the police.
