Vancouver Practitioners Call for People of All Walks of Life to Help Stop Hong Kong's Political Trial of Falun Gong Practitioners

On the afternoon of August 3, 2002, Vancouver practitioners gathered outside of the Chinese Consulate and sent forth righteous thoughts at the top of each hour. We called on people from all walks of life to voice their concern over the political trial Hong Kong police have brought against peaceful Falun Gong practitioners at the pressure of Jiang Zemin's regime. Two local TV stations were present to report the event and broadcasted the interviews on their evening news programs.

On the evening of the same day we came to the consulate again to hold a candlelight vigil and send forth righteous thoughts. These several days were coincident with Vancouver's Firework Festival. When many people drove by on their way home after having watched the fireworks show, they all noticed the long line of candles and peaceful Falun Gong practitioners. It surely left deep impressions in their minds.

Hong Kong's unfounded trial against Falun Gong practitioners has been going on for quite a while. Practitioners realized that it is not an isolated incident, and not just Hong Kong practitioners' business. It is another plot of the Jiang regime that is trying to extend its persecution overseas. Just like the "blacklist" incident, Jiang is testing the extent of the world's tolerance toward his evil conduct. As Falun Dafa practitioners, we have the responsibility to tell the truth to people of the world and disclose the true nature of the political trial and to call upon people around the world to stand in solidarity to resolutely stop this political trial. In the meantime, let the world be aware of the Jiang regime's tyrannical nature and see clearly that Hong Kong under the rule of the Jiang regime is losing its democracy and autonomy. This will awaken people's righteous thoughts. In the meantime, people who understand the truth will have a bright future.

Practitioners will distribute information about Hong Kong's political trial to residents in the Vancouver area and collect signatures. We hope through our efforts people will realize that the persecution of Falun Gong not only takes place in China, but that the Jiang regime's persecution is extending overseas to all corners of the world. Jiang is nibbling away at the democracy and freedom which is the very foundation of Hong Kong's prosperity.
