Washington DC Falun Gong Practitioners Appeal outside Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On August 5, 2002, Falun Gong practitioners of Washington DC came to a representative organization of the Hong Kong government--the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Washington DC--to hold a peaceful appeal, calling on the Hong Kong Judiciary Department to stop the politically motivated trial against Falun Gong practitioners immediately.

On March 14, 2002, sixteen Falun Gong practitioners (including four Swiss practitioners) appealed peacefully outside the China Liaison Office in Hong Kong. The police used violence and arrested these practitioners without legal procedures and later falsely accused them of "obstructing traffic" and "assaulting police." The witness and on-site video clearly showed that it was the Hong Kong police officers that obstructed the traffic and assaulted the innocent citizens. The case should have been dismissed immediately, but in fact it has lasted over 40 days. During the hearing, the judge seemingly was siding with the prosecutor. All indications show that this trial is politically motivated.

Around 11:30 a.m. August 5, practitioners from the Washington DC area came to Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Washington DC and unfurled three banners that said "End the Political Trial," "Falun Dafa," "SOS," as well as other banners. Three Falun Gong practitioners contacted the security guard and asked for a talk with the officials in the office. After several contacts through the security guard, the officials of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office refused the request to talk, using the excuses of "in meeting" and "have no time." The security guard told the practitioners that she knew that Falun Gong is peaceful. In the end, she agreed to deliver the practitioners' press statement and videotape showing that the Hong Kong policemen used violence to arrest the practitioners in front of China Liaison Office in Hong Kong. A Chinese media reporter witnessed the whole event.

Some practitioners distributed truth-clarifying flyers and VCDs to the passersby. Other practitioners did exercises in the garden across the street. All practitioners sent forth righteous thought every half hour. The peaceful appeal finished at 2:30 p.m.

We call on the Hong Kong government to show the respect to facts, human rights and law, respect democracy and freedom, withstand the pressure from Jiang's Regime and stop the unreasonable political trial immediately.
