We Hope That Hong Kong Authorities Will Stay on the Side of Justice and Civilized Society

(Clearwisdom.net) More and more people realize that the final battle between righteousness and evil foretold in many prophecies is being manifested in the peaceful and non-violent appeal of Falun Gong practitioners and the brutal persecution against Falun Gong by Jiang's political regime. Every country and nation's attitude toward this persecution is directly related to the future of its people in that country.

Hong Kong used to have the name of "the pearl of the east." This is because it is not only an important center of trade and business in world economy but also a free, democratic, and civilized society. It is the window of converging and communication of politics and culture between the east and west. During the time when Mainland China is under the control of Jiang's regime, the "pearl of the east" is especially meaningful because of its unique status.

At the early stage of Jiang's persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China, only practitioners in the special administrative region of Hong Kong had not been tortured. However, with the escalation of the persecution, the Hong Kong government and judiciary system are now also involved in the persecution under pressure from Jiang. In March of 2002, sixteen Falun Gong practitioners including four Swiss citizens peacefully appealed in Hong Kong. This act of justice did not gain any support from the Hong Kong government. Instead, Hong Kong police violently interfered with the appeal and even falsely accused practitioners of "obstructing the street" and "attacking the police."

This act of fabricating charges is very dangerous. On one hand, the law in Hong Kong will lose its dignity. As a result of this, not only Falun Gong practitioners but also many more Hong Kong citizens will become victims. Once this power replaces the democratic system that has been established for more than one hundred years, there will be no room for justice in Hong Kong. On the other hand, international societies including the US, Canada, European countries, Australia, Japan, East and South Asian countries have all gradually come to realize the true nature of this persecution against Falun Gong and they all condemn the torture. When more and more kind-hearted people all over the world are condemning Jiang's regime, what will be the future of Hong Kong's government and judiciary system? We hope the government of Hong Kong will stay with justice and civilized society.
