At 1 pm, August 5, practitioners from the Sydney area held a press conference outside the Chinese Consulate in Sydney regarding Hong Kong's trial of Swiss and Hong Kong practitioners. They called on people of all walks of life to express concern and help stop this "political persecution."

In response of the charges of obstruction and assaulting police, a spokesperson of Sydney Falun Gong practitioners said, in the statement to the press, that the charges were absurd. Practitioners' peaceful appeal is guaranteed by the established Hong Kong law. All the evidence from the videos and photos taken from the scene clearly showed that the Hong Kong police's accusations were groundless. The presiding judge's apparent hostility towards the defense and clear bias towards the prosecution showed that this so-called trial is not about "obstructing the sidewalk" but purely a political persecution.

The spokesperson further pointed out that from the forced deportation according to "black list" from the Jiang regime to the present "political trial," Hong Kong gradually lost its name as international free harbor. The Hong Kong government's conduct in these matters constitute serious violations of human rights.

Practitioners called upon the Hong Kong government to not submit to the rule of tyranny and assist the evil. The Hong Kong government should stop the groundless prosecution of 16 Falun Gong practitioners, uphold justice, and resolutely resist Jiang's extension of its persecution overseas.
