(Clearwisdom.net) Jilin Province --- Mr. Piao Shihao, a professor of the Medical School of Jilin Yanbian University, was imprisoned for several months for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people. On August 21, 2002, he was tortured to death.

Professor Piao, who was in his 60s, was arrested and imprisoned in the Yanji Detention Center. He suffered tremendous torture at the detention center, but he remained steadfast in his belief in Falun Dafa.

An official from Yanbian Medical School confirmed that Professor Piao died in the detention center and said that his body was cremated. A police officer from the Yanji Detention Center claimed, "Professor Piao died after he was set free." When he heard that the medical school confirmed that Professor Piao died in the detention center, he immediately hung up.

Reports show that Professor Piao Shihao was not the first Falun Gong practitioner who was murdered in the Yanji Detention Center. Sources show that in December 2001, practitioner Liu Hong, a teacher, suffocated and died when the police violently force-fed him. The tube was inserted haphazardly and the food went into his lungs. It had been only about one month from the time when Liu Hong was arrested until his death. The Yanji Municipal Police Station and the Yanji Detention Center had been strictly blocking this news.

It is estimated that over 465 Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to death in China during the 3 years of persecution. Some officials from the Chinese government disclosed at the end of October 2001 that the real death toll from July 20, 1999 until then exceeded 1,600.
