Falun Gong is an ancient Chinese teaching of mind and body improvement. The entire teachings of Falun Gong are freely given to anyone who wants to learn them. You may hear other terms for Falun Gong, such as Falun Dafa, but the most accurate name is "Falun Cultivation Dafa". It is the manifestation of the great Fa [law], the Buddha Fa, in the ordinary people's world.
Falun Dafa has rapidly spread to about sixty countries. The Falun Dafa books have been translated into more than twenty languages and are embraced by people from all walks of life. Many of these people are highly educated and all are diligent Falun Dafa practitioners.
The fundamental principles that Falun Dafa is based upon are "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance". Practitioners do not pursue self-interest or fame nor do they have political agendas. During the brutal persecution and the vicious defamation campaign, the righteous thoughts in their hearts stayed constant. They seek to spread the truth so that more people are not deceived by the defamation and lies spread by Jiang Zemin's regime. They want others to understand Falun Dafa for what it truly is and not just from the propaganda and lies that have been disseminated from the Chinese regime.
Jiang's regime launched an attack to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners out of jealousy and political struggle; the extent of this widespread persecution is not completely known, but rivals the serious crimes against humanity committed by other heads of totalitarian regimes. Jiang's regime uses the media in China to deceive people. In the days following the so-called "Tiananmen Self-immolation Incident," the regime continued to fabricate lies by falsely accusing those committing murders that occurred in the country as acts committed by Falun Dafa practitioners. Meanwhile, the"610 Office" [An agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] was created to organize and further spread the persecution against Falun Dafa. Practitioners are abused in almost every township, every county, and every city in China. As of August 28, 2002, more than four hundred and sixty practitioners deaths due to torture have been confirmed. Over one hundred thousand practitioners have been sent to forced labor camps. Several thousand practitioners have been sentenced to prisons. Countless practitioners have been forced into homeless lives in China to avoid further persecution. The Jiang regime blocks all Falun Dafa websites and bans Falun Dafa books so that the Chinese people will only hear their slanted side of the story and be unable to discover the true facts for themselves.
Although the persecution and abuses have been immense, practitioners are determined to reveal the truth and expose the lies that the Chinese government has spread. Falun Dafa practioners believe that it is important that everyone have a clear understanding of the Buddha Fa as this is a major event in our history. Good acts will be rewarded with good, evil deeds will meet with evil in return. In the near future, all karmic debts will be settled.
