Letter from Canadian M.P. Roy Cullen
Sep 12, 02
Dear Mr. [name withheld],
Thank you for your letter dated August 22, 2002, which I received on August
26, 2002 and please forgive the tardiness of my reply.
I share the grief of the family members of the fourteen Falun Gong
practitioners who are incarcerated in China. The practice of persecution against
the member of the Falun Gong is unconscionable. Please find enclosed the letter
I wrote to the Hon. Bill Graham, Minister of Foreign Affairs expressing
objection to the continuing persecution the members of the Falun Gong.
On a happy note, I was pleased to learn that Yanying Wu, sister to Yanxia Wu,
who lives in Toronto, was released from the Jianxin Labour camp in Hexi District
of Tianjin City. This is evidence that the international condemnation of the
imprisonment of these peaceful individuals is beginning to inoculate the harsh
measures imposed by the Chinese authorities. I wish to assure you that Canada's
role in the effort of stopping these abuses of human rights will continue until
the last prisoner is released.
Thank you for sharing your concern with me.
Yours sincerely.
