The Beijing Police Department is in charge of holding so-called "computer security personnel training sessions" for business Internet users. The Police Department also asked the businesses to use the IC cards provided by the Police Department in order to control both the use of the Internet and transfer of information by these businesses. Those businesses that do not participate in this program cannot use the Internet. At the same time, the Police Department asked the personnel who attended the training session to register their ID numbers, contact phone numbers, gender, nationality and work units, etc. They also asked for 500 Yuan per person for the training session [note: 500 Yuan is equal to the average monthly salary of an urban worker].

Around September 10, a large number of truth-clarifying VCDs appeared in two big cities in two different provinces in Southern China. Tens of thousands of VCDs appeared in bustling business districts and every university, college and educational institution. Many people who received the VCDs all said that Falun Dafa is good after watching the positive content of the VCDs. The VCDs include the following videos: The Truth of the Self-Immolation, The Truth of the 4.25 Incident, SOS Urgent Rescue, and Falun Dafa Spreads Widely in the World. Also on the VCDs are e-books (all the Falun Dafa books, some Clearwisdom articles from 2001 and 2002, and The Path to Return), software for getting on the Internet, and other materials. The content of the VCDs is very broad and thought provoking.

During this same time, fellow practitioners posted and distributed truth-clarifying materials, fearless of the accompanying hardships and dangers. In a short time, Falun Dafa flyers and truth-clarifying VCDs appeared everywhere on the streets. Some VCDs were delivered to the entrance of police stations, some were delivered inside the police stations, and some were delivered inside the Police Department Branches to let people there learn the truth.

Zhang Peng is a student in the Department of Computer Science in Shandong University. His home is in Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province. He has gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong three times. After he was illegally sentenced to forced labor, he was inhumanly persecuted in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. Zhang Peng was fearless of the cruel persecution, firmly upholding justice and truth. He shouted "Falun Dafa is good!" during the "flag raising ceremony" and was forcibly sent to a mental hospital. Later, the persecution caused Zhang Peng to suffer a mental collapse, and he has been released on bail to seek medical treatment. Right now he can barely speak, and he is a very different person compared to what he was before being persecuted.

On June 20, 2001, the Wanjia Tragedy that shocked people both inside and outside China, took away the precious lives of three Falun Dafa practitioners. Yet, one year later, the police once again have sent the elderly woman, Pan Xuanhua, who recovered after being in a coma for five days, to the inhuman Harbin Wanjia Forced Labor Camp.

In March 2002, Falun Dafa practitioner Pan Xuanhua and fellow practitioners were reported while distributing truth-clarifying materials. She was arrested and sent to the Harbin Detention Center. While she was in the detention center, this elderly practitioner suffered all kinds of inhuman tortures and almost lost her life once again. In July of this year, she was once again illegally sent to the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp for three years of forced labor. She is now detained in the training team on the third floor of the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp for strict discipline.

The "Legal System Education Center" in Hebei Province, which is also a brainwashing center, is located near the No.2 Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City. It currently is illegally detaining dozens of Falun Dafa practitioners from Shijiazhuang City and Luancheng City, Gaoyi County, Gaocheng City, Zhengding County, and other areas. All of the Falun Dafa practitioners were detained by the local "610 Office" [An agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems].

Once the practitioners arrived in the brainwashing class, every practitioner was locked up in a "small cell" by themselves, and was not allowed to sleep for 24 hours. Several people took turns torturing each Falun Gong practitioner individually, while disseminating fallacies that confused right and wrong, or else using threats, or pretending to be nice and distorting Falun Dafa by quoting the writings of Falun Dafa out of context. After torturing Falun Gong practitioners to the point of being less clear-minded, they seduced and forced some practitioners to give up their belief. For the practitioners who went on hunger strike, they first pretended to be nice, persuading and begging them to eat, even crying real tears and appearing quite sincere, all with the goal of making the practitioners give up their belief. If the practitioners still did not compromise, they would reveal their ferocious nature, using torture instruments, burning practitioners with cigarette butts, shocking them with electric batons and violently beating practitioners.

Some people could not endure the torture and wrote the promise letter [not to practice Falun Dafa] against their will and later painfully regretted this action. But even so, the perpetrators still did not let them go, and still forced them to write articles every day to betray other Falun Gong practitioners, slander Teacher, and slander Falun Dafa. Thus they forced them to walk towards the abyss step by step, completely betraying Falun Dafa, becoming mentally disordered and losing a normal person's actions and ability to judge right from wrong.

The evil person who controls the Legal System Education Center in Hebei Province is the Director of the "610 Office" of Hebei Province: Wang Yongzhi.

Around July 20 in Changde City, police set out to systematically break into and ransack Falun Dafa practitioners' homes, taking away Falun Dafa books. The police also arrested and detained more than 20 Falun Dafa practitioners. In August, police arrested another Falun Dafa practitioner, who was illegally detained for carrying truth-clarifying VCDs.

Fu Liang, Falun Dafa practitioner in Anshan City of Liaoning Province was arrested at a Falun Dafa materials-producing site located at the north entrance of Lishan, in February 2002. He was illegally sentenced to 8 years in prison and is now being detained in Anshan City Detention Center.

A list of Falun Dafa practitioners who have received heavy prison sentences:

Zhao Shuaiqing, male, 27 years old: 7 years.

Liu Rongpei, female, 29 years old: 7 years.

Chen Ying, female, 29 years old: 6 years.

Liu Xiaoli, female, 50 years old: 3 years.

Falun Dafa practitioner Tang Hao will also be tried without legal representation within the next few days.

On September 12, 2002, the evil police from Balipu Police Station arrested Falun Gong practitioner Li Jiechun (male, about 50 years old) from Qidaoquanzi Town, Longcheng District, Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province, while he was distributing truth-clarifying materials.

Shanghai police use very despicable means to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. They do not allow landlords to lease homes to practitioners. If the police learn that Falun Dafa practitioners have rented a house, they employ all means to force the landlord to evict the practitioners. Especially for the normal leasing activities of those Falun Dafa practitioners who have the ownership of property (such as leasing the house to fellow Falun Gong practitioners who need to rent a place), the police have used every possible way to threaten them and make things difficult.

On September 1, Falun Dafa practitioners in a rural area in Northern China successfully held a Falun Dafa conference that was attended by dozens of practitioners.

Female Falun Dafa practitioner Ma Shuhua from Harbin City in Heilongjiang Province headed out of town from Harbin in late April 2002. She has not been heard of ever since. It was said that there were three Falun Dafa practitioners who traveled together. It is quite likely that they have been arrested by the police. Ma Shuhua's husband, Zhao Fangcheng, is a Falun Dafa practitioner currently being held in illegal custody in the notorious Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp. Their son is trying to make a living in southern China and has lost contact with his parents.

Before July 20, 2002, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hebei Province went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to petition and to tell the facts about Falun Gong to the world. After the police caught him, they sent him to various facilities for torture. Only after the practitioner suffered from fracture of his spine which had resulted from compression, authorities in Beijing notified the local police station to take him back to Hebei Province. He was then illegally held in the local police station for over a dozen days before his family was notified to take him back, too late to receive timely medical treatment. Currently, this practitioner cannot take care of himself, and has to lie in bed all the time. Local authorities in the town have assigned a person to constantly keep an eye on him under the excuse of "paying a visit" to him at home.

Around 3:00 a.m. on August 19, 2002, about ten Falun Gong practitioners were arrested. They were then sent to a brainwashing class in Ciyutuo. On August 31^st, the police came to the No.2 Chengzhen Middle School to forcibly take away two young female Falun Gong practitioners. Both practitioners were in charge of classes respectively, and August 31^st was the day when all teachers and students were returning to school after the summer vacation. In the brainwashing class, brainwashed people took turns and pulled all the tricks in an attempt to force practitioners to give up their belief. Authorities are also tried to dig out information about the whereabouts of Falun Dafa practitioners. Everything has been done in order to trap and arrest Falun Dafa practitioners.

Recently, the political rogues are playing a slanderous movie that defames Falun Dafa and poisons the public in Weifang City, Shandong Province. The "610 Office" has issued documents printed on official letterhead to all the middle schools and elementary schools across the city, forcing them to purchase group tickets from the "610 Office" and organize everyone to watch the movie. [The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] From September 13^th to September 16^th, 20,000 to 30,000 students and teachers have been badly influenced by the movie. The "610 Office" has also started to work on government agencies, organizations, and enterprises. Young students are pure, easy to be blindly misled, not easily to discriminate the bad from the good, and thus are among the first victims of the "610 Office."

Luquan City is planning on playing a slanderous movie that defames Falun Dafa. All students of the fourth grade and above and everyone in the Party and government agencies and organization are asked to watch this movie. It is likely that the movie will then be played in subsidiary towns and townships.

Yang Chenchen, female, is 69 years old. She has been sentenced to forced labor for practicing Falun Gong and is currently held in the No. 5 Brigade.

Lu Xiuzhen, female, 68 years old, is from Shijiazhuang City in Hebei Province. She has been sentenced to forced labor and is currently held in the No. 5 Brigade.

Ning Yongzhai, female, 26 years old, is from Shijiazhuang City in Hebei Province. She was forced to receive brainwash, deprived of sleep for many days, and is currently held in the No. 5 Brigade.

Zhang Jinling, female, is a teacher at Shenzhou City in Hengshui. She has been sentenced to three years of forced labor. She was forced to receive brainwashing, and punished by forced standing for an extended period of time without rest or sleep.

Li Xiumin, female, 43 years old, is from Shijiazhuang City in Hebei Province. In the No. 4 Brigade, she was beaten, given electric shocks, and otherwise tortured for resisting brainwashing. She is currently held in the No. 5 Brigade for repeated brainwashing, and has been deprived of sleep for extended period.

Li Aisheng, female, is from Zaoqiang County in Hengshui City. She has refused to be brainwashed and thus been deprived of sleep. She is currently held in the No. 5 Brigade.

He Qing, female, 22 years old, is from Shijiazhuang City in Hebei Province. She has been sentenced to two years of forced labor. She has refused to be brainwashed and thus been deprived of sleep and forced to stand as a punishment. She is currently held in the No. 5 Brigade.

Many Falun Dafa practitioners have been held in the No.5 Brigade in the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp. Among them, the 69-year-old elderly lady Yang Chenchen has been sentenced to forced labor for practicing Falun Gong. She has been deprived of freedom and her rights to spend her retired years peacefully. The forced labor camp forced these elderly people to engage in physical labor. Everything has been done to coerce them to give up practicing cultivation. The 68-year-old Lu Xiuzhen had already been sent to forced labor camp for firmly cultivating Falun Dafa in the past. Zhang Shuzhen, 60 years old, had been extorted 20,000 Yuan and then handed a forced labor term. [The average monthly salary of an urban worker is about 500 Yuan.] Jiang and his followers do not even let go of these elderly people. The brutality and all-pervasiveness of this persecution is far beyond the imagination of kindhearted people. Countless practitioners have been forced out of their homes and live in exile.

Female Falun Dafa practitioner Yao Qiuyang from Guizhou Province is over 50-years-old. She was arrested for distributing materials that tell the facts of Falun Dafa. She was sent directly to the Zhongba Forced Labor Camp and given a three-year term of forced labor.

Falun Dafa practitioners Li Zhenwen and his wife Zou Limei were forced to leave their home a year and a half ago in November 2000. On May 28, 2002, Li Zhenwen was arrested by the Fushan Police Station in Jiangxi Road in Qingdao City. He was sent to the Qingdao Dashan Detention Center for custody on June 1. Li Zhenwen has been on a hunger strike abstaining from both food and water since May 28^th demanding unconditional release. (It has been over 100 days by now.) At the end of July, the Nanqu Court in Qingdao City put Li Zhenwen on secret trial without notifying his family and sentenced Li to three years in prison. Li Zhenwen provided no "confession", refused to sign his name or provide fingerprints, and remained righteous all along. The "610 Office" of Qingdao City did not take into consideration at all Li's extremely poor health, his inability to walk by himself, and tremendous loss of weight. On August 15, the "610 Office" sent Li Zhenwen to the Weibei Prison for forced labor without conducting a physical examination. Currently Li Zhenwen has been sent to the Weibei Prison Central Hospital. However, his family members are not allowed to visit him. His life is in imminent danger. We appeal to kindhearted people to help bring attention to his situation.

Around 10:00 p.m. on August 19, 2002, a female Falun Dafa practitioner of the last name Chen was arrested by the police while telling the facts about Falun Gong in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province.

Ye Fenglin, male, 45-years-old, was a former employee of the Armed Department at Tuanjie Township in Bijie City, Guizhou Province. He was tortured to death at 7:30 a.m. on June 27, 2002 at the No. 6 Brigade in the Zhongba Forced Labor Camp in Guizhou Province. People responsible for his death include:
