It has been more than three years since the head of the evil started this persecution against Falun Gong. Through persistent and in-depth efforts of clarifying the truth, all walks of life in society--especially people overseas, have come to a better understanding of us. Support from governments and non-governmental organizations has been continuing. The last struggle of the evil head and the old forces has also become even more vicious. Clarifying the truth via the media is a very important route to further utilize the wisdom Dafa has bestowed upon us to let more people understand the true situation and thus be saved.

Then, at present, how do we make our truth-clarification efforts more solid and more powerful? We think it is very important if we can explicitly highlight the following issues and explain these issues clearly.

1. Jiang Zemin Is the Number One Perpetrator Who Persecutes Falun Gong

On the issue of why Falun Gong has been persecuted and who is directly responsible for this unreasonable persecution, some media reports have been superficial and unclear. Therefore, when we clarify the truth to media, we have to put our emphasis on clearly pointing out that Jiang is the only reason that Falun Gong has been persecuted. We have to point out that Jiang is directly responsible for this unreasonable persecution, that Jiang started this persecution out of his own, personal evil nature, that Jiang has made Falun Gong suffer injustices, that Jiang has harmed innocent people, and that Jiang has brought shame to several thousand years of Chinese civilization.

Falun Gong brings people health and teaches people to become good people. Falun Gong brings harmony to hundreds of thousands of families, and improves society's moral standard. Falun Dafa is good--this statement is echoed from the hearts of countless people who have benefited from the cultivation practice of Falun Gong. This is a fact that nobody can deny. In a short seven-year period, Falun Gong has unselfishly given millions of people healthy bodies. The improved moral standard among the large number of practitioners has brought boundless new vitality and hope for society. Falun Gong's immeasurable virtue lies in such improvements. This is why our benevolent Teacher is so greatly revered.

Out of his jealous nature, Jiang could not tolerate others' being popular and revered. He could not tolerate one hundred million people looking to the founder of Falun Gong for guidance and direction in their lives, nor could he tolerate the fact that Falun Gong practitioners outnumbered Communist Party's members. Therefore, using the excuse that his power and position were being threatened and challenged, he abused his power and started this evil persecution against Falun Gong practitioners.

Nevertheless, once people's minds understand the truth, they are unshakable. Even though Jiang has resorted to every unimaginable means, Falun Gong has remained solid and unshakable even to this day. In the face of unjust criticism and unfairness, Falun Gong practitioners adhere to the principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and manifest great breadth of tolerance, compassion and forbearance. In the face of persecution, every thing Falun Gong practitioners have done over the past three years has been based on the benevolent intention to help different groups and people to understand us. There is also the hope that after learning the truth, people and governments can act together to uphold justice by working to stop this unreasonable persecution, which should never have existed at all.

Just like people everywhere, we also care about the people in the great land of Mainland China. For many of us, our families, relatives and friends, as well as our past and our future, exist there. As cultivators, we do not have an attachment to everyday people's quest for power, and we don't have any "political goals" either. Our request is to stop this unreasonable persecution and clear the name of Falun Gong.

2. This Persecution Directly Harms All Chinese in China and Damages Society's Moral Standard; It is a Form of State Terrorism

When clarifying the truth to media, it is very important to explain clearly the nature of this persecution, its scope, and the direct damage it has created to society. In fact, this persecution of Falun Gong is a direct persecution against everyone in China, which also damages the foundation of society's moral standard. It is a typical act of state terrorism.

On the superficial level, this persecution appears to be targeting Falun Gong practitioners, while in fact, it directly damages the interests of all China's people. Not only have Falun Gong practitioners been severely tortured, detained and even killed, but also ordinary people have been harmed. As a direct result of Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful appeal activities, the authorities at Tiananmen Square have been on the alert for anything. Even an everyday person's movements of stretching and yawning can lead to a serious beating by the police, who mistake their movement for Falun Gong exercises. In order to stop Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful appeal and to arrest Falun Gong practitioners, roadblocks have been set up on roads, and passengers forced to say something to defame Falun Gong or do something to insult Falun Gong. This has not only trampled people's basic rights, it has also forced innocent people to use foul language and encouraged them to engage in hateful acts, causing a severe decline in their moral standard. This persecution of Falun Gong also targets the foundation of human society; that is, the moral standard. Falun Gong teaches people to become good people. Falun Gong practitioners follow "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance". Human's benevolent nature has been maintaining the peace and stability of the living environments and society for the past several thousand years. Attacking Falun Gong attacks the foundation for a good living environment and destroys mankind's kind, basic nature. Attacking "Truthfulness" certainly encourages dishonesty. Attacking "compassion" certainly encourages "evilness". After the incident of September 11, 2001 in the US, while kind-hearted people all over the world were shocked and in mourning, some Chinese who had lost their benevolent nature were cheering on the Internet. Attacking "Forbearance" no doubt encourages "violence."

Once that small amount of kind nature remaining in people is destroyed, people without kindness will become enemies of one another. Once humans do not possess the moral standard that they are supposed to have, people whose moral standards have collapsed will face an unimaginably terrible situation. From this, we can clearly see that this persecution of Falun Gong is not just a simple issue of freedom of belief, nor is it an issue of believing in "theism" or "atheism". It is not just an issue involving practitioners and their family members. This is a large-scale persecution of human nature. In the face of obvious truth and obvious lies, it is everyone's duty-bound responsibility to stop this evil persecution.

3. This Persecution Is Directly Against People's Wishes, and Has Unwittingly Plunged China into Crisis

This unjust persecution against Falun Gong over the past three-years is against human nature and also against the Chinese people's wishes. Because of this, it has plunged China into a crisis that many people are still not aware of. This unjust persecution, which was started single-handedly by Jiang, is in fact greatly against the Chinese people's desire to build up their economy peacefully and to push society toward civilization and a just legal system.

Before July 20, 1999, over one hundred million people practiced Falun Gong in Mainland China. Besides ordinary civilians, many high-ranking officials of the Party, government departments and military departments were also practicing Falun Gong. The number and scope of people practicing Falun Gong were unprecedented. Moreover, the spreading of Falun Gong was by word of mouth, from heart to heart. In the seven years following May of 1992, wherever Falun Gong went, it brought healthy bodies and noble morality to the people. Through the practice of Falun Gong, everyone's family had become harmonious and society had become stable. People were living in peace and harmony and everyone was grateful to Dafa's graciousness and mighty virtue. In an attempt to find some kind of political agenda ascribed to Falun Gong, China's Ministry of Public Security was instructed to conduct a secret investigation of Falun Gong that lasted for two years. The result was that a large number of personnel at the Public Security Ministry learned to understand Falun Gong through the investigation and, in the end, took the cultivation path, from which they benefited greatly. This clearly demonstrates in which direction people's hearts were leaning and what their wishes were.

Amidst this persecution, some of the people who were asked to participate were very reluctant to do bad things against their better judgement. After coming in contact with and understanding Falun Gong practitioners, they realized that Falun Gong practitioners were being unjustly persecuted and they didn't want to do something against heaven's law. Yet, despite objections within the Party, Jiang forced the Government and people to submit to his personal will. His action itself violates China's Constitution and violates the human rights declaration that China has signed at the UN. This in turn has damaged the Chinese Government's image and standing in the international community.

There are already countless numbers of cases which indicate that the great majority of personnel in police and government departments have been forced to participate in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. When China's unemployment rate rose extremely high, they were forced to choose among participating in the persecution, losing their jobs, or being persecuted themselves. Some government workers who refused to take part in persecuting Falun Gong received threats of being fired or fined, and some received the same kind of torture meted out to Falun Gong practitioners. They were forced to take part in this persecution reluctantly. It is very easy to see what people's hearts were leaning toward and turning away from.

Jiang's regime spent huge amounts of government money on persecuting Falun Gong, which has led to sharp rise in the government's deficit. Irrecoverable bank loans, lowered efficiency of government-owned industry, a larger and larger gap between the income of the rich and the poor, a huge unemployment rate, the stagnation of the agricultural economy, and many other factors are causing havoc in the economy. Two hundred million farmers are out of work, and the non-stop natural and man-made disasters, along with the deterioration of the environment due to poorly managed resources are also adding fuel to the fiery situation. Corruption and embezzlement is rampant at all levels of government and business. Increasing tax rates and taxes on goods as well as deflation are also a problem. These factors are pushing the economy to the brink of collapse. In order to prop up their feeble existence, Jiang's followers are making continuous efforts to use bribery, promises and loans to attract foreign investors. At present, although China's economy seems to be growing on the surface, in actuality it is beset by crises from all directions. China's economic statisticians have always been known for producing misleading data. Officials of all levels have been accustomed to reporting only what is good while concealing what is unpleasant. Yet, at the present time when the growth of Western economies are slowing down, foreign investors who are used to depending on statistical analysis have been deluded by the false image and have gone to China to seek capital investment opportunities. If this persecution continues, the result will definitely be a chaotic society with a collapsed economy, and foreign investors' money will go down the drain. The direct victims will include the large population of people in Western countries who buy mutual funds or stocks.

4. This Persecution Which, to A Great Extent, Is a Throwback to the Cultural Revolution, Has Already Extended to Overseas Countries

Not only has Jiang persecuted Falun Gong in Mainland China, he also, in order to extend the persecution all over the world, has sent secret agents to engage in illegal activities outside of China. They use their diplomatic offices stationed in foreign countries to exert pressure or threats on foreign officials, and they attack and harass Falun Gong practitioners and Falun Gong supporters in these other countries. They also seek to control the information foreign media receive about Falun Gong and the persecution.

There are many cases like these. Everyone, please pay attention to, collect, and quote these incidents, so foreign media can become familiar with them and report about this situation.
