China Central TV's "Focal Point" Program Forces Thief to Blame Falun Gong

(Clearwisdom.net) Around November of 1999, CCTV's "Focal Point" program broadcast the story of a thief from Yutian County in Tangshan City of Hebei Province, who claimed to be a Falun Gong practitioner. After verification from Yutian Dafa practitioners, however, this was proven to be pure fabrication. This thief had never been a Falun Gong practitioner.

After his arrest, the thief was sent to the local police station. The thief decided to claim that he practices Falun Gong and has supernormal capabilities, such as when he steals, that no one can see him. Yet how could the behavior of a thief be compared to the behavior of Falun Gong practitioners? Towards the end of the interrogation, the thief told the truth, admitting that he does not practice Falun Gong. However, the police station in Yutian County wanted credit for arresting a Falun Gong practitioner. The police told the thief, "If you claim that you practice Falun Gong and cooperate, we will commute your punishment." This was how the thief and the police acted together to deceive the public and shifted the blame to Falun Gong.

After a Dafa practitioner from Yutian County watched the TV program, he went to verify the truth with the thief's family. When this Dafa practitioner found the thief's mother, he asked, "Does you son practice Falun Gong?" The thief's mother answered, "No." The practitioner then asked, "Does your family keep Falun Gong books?" The thief's mother answered, "No." The practitioner asked again, "Has your son ever practiced Falun Gong?" The thief's mother answered, "No." The thief's mother further told the practitioner, "The child's father passed away. He has never had a decent job, has never practiced Falun Gong, and surely does not know what Falun Gong is all about. He probably has only heard of it from the TV."

In order to clarify the truth and uphold the reputation of Dafa, the practitioner went to Tiananmen Square with a loudspeaker to speak out the truth and expose the lies. He was then arrested and sent back to his workplace. The managers in the workplace claimed that the practitioner suffered from psychosis. The authorities sent this practitioner to a mental hospital to be tortured, and we do not know his current whereabouts.

In February 2000, the thief was taken to a detention center where practitioners had been held before. At that point, the prisoners asked why he lied about being a Falun Gong practitioner. The thief could not answer, and he was beaten up by the prisoners. The prisoners warned him, "You blindly claimed that you practice Falun Gong. None of the Falun Gong practitioners are anything like you."

Falun Dafa can do all kinds of good for society. Falun Dafa practitioners are good people who live by high moral standards. Jiang's regime intended to attack Falun Dafa and its practitioners, so they framed Falun Gong with ploys such as this one. Even with their enormous propaganda machine, the army, police and everything else at their disposal, they cannot keep the truth from the people forever.
