Washington Post: China Tightens Clamp on Satellite Broadcasting (excerpt)

(Clearwisdom.net) According to a Washington Post report on Sept. 5, China has launched a nationwide
clampdown on satellite networks following a string of [unauthorized] broadcasts
on state television by the Falun Gong spiritual movement, state media said
today. Although the Chinese government's report did not mention Falun Gong, the orders come about a week
after Falun Gong intercepted the a network in a city near Beijing and
aired 70 minutes of programming. Falun Gong's U.S.-based information center said in a statement that the
group's adherents had [tapped into] airwaves on Aug. 23 and 27 in the city of
Baoding, in Hebei province.
Television station officials and police in Baoding denied the incident had
happened.
